We didn't receive what we paid for…
We came across the stall of this company during a visit to the Lake District, at a small market in Bowness-In-Windermere, selling various chilli sauces and other items.
Having tasted several samples of his sauces, I purchased two of them at a cost of £8 each for 150ml per bottle, (a tad expensive for the amount, but I succumbed to his detailed description of manufacturing costs, being a small exclusive company, etc) …
I selected Murphy’s Mortis Hot Sauce & Murphy’s Smoked Chipotle Garlic Hot Sauce, both of which gave me a decent kick, (as I am a big fan of hot chilli sauces and have over the years, grown many of my own chilli’s).
When he placed them in a bag, I took them both out before paying, to check what I’d actually received, both were out of date! He apologised and stated that he had simply printed the incorrect dates on the labels and assured me that they were both in date until 2027!
Stupidly, I accepted this explanation…
Having now arrived back home and having used both of the two sauces I purchased, they are like a mild ketchup and a mild BBQ sauce in taste!!
None of the ‘kick’ of a hot chilli sauce and certainly not what I tasted as a ‘sample’ whilst visiting his stall.
I would absolutely not recommend these chilli sauces from this company; I feel that I was completely ripped off…
