Web Of Distrust.

No https, not only biased, but compromised.

"WOT was discovered to be selling personally identifiable user data in November 2016. This breach of user privacy, initially discovered and reported by investigative journalists in Germany, was widely reported in the press, resulting in the removal of the Web of Trust plugin from all major browsers."

Hey Flavio,
Gordon from the Support Team here, I’d be happy to clarify this.
Our current product is a very different product from the one in which the previous issues were raised. We are aligned with most strict privacy policies, including GDPR & CCPA, and we also implemented state-of-the-art technology to make sure your data is protected.

This is so biased

This is so biased. You can't trust it, it's rating sites as dangerous that are most certainly not. If you like free speech and unbiased protection you've come to the wrong place.

Hey Helena,
This is Gordon from Support, thanking you for your feedback.
WOT is a community-driven platform where any user can express their opinion regarding a website and/or the website's services.
We do not interfere in the discourse and do not add, edit or remove comments unless they violate our community guidelines.
This is done in order to be transparent and enable our users to form an independent and unbiased opinion.
I encourage you to engage in the discourse and share your comments and reviews with the community and report conspicuous websites.

Untrustworthy ratings..

Untrustworthy ratings... Even on their own forums they encourage each other to attach a website rating simply because the owner of the site questioned them about their rating or what they could do to improve. Unethical practices.

Untrustworthy

I stumbled across this site, it gave a web site a 4 star rating, yet all the reviews for the site in question had one or two stars. How does that work then?? That alone looks really dodgy, not to mention the web page did odd things like scolling badly, large intrusive pop-ups, my browser blocked a push notification request and a location tracker. So no, nothing to trust here.

Do WOT Mods Love Chronic Illness?

A chain of suspicious events transpired after I left an honest, positive experiential opinion, complete with disclaimer, for an alternative health website owned by a great humanitarian. This site was graded by a few other users; 2/3 were not only negative but downright appalling with abusive, vile language and malicious lies that were clearly made-up falsifications of science.

Arena and incident of my grievance with WOT: the health treatment in question is sodium chlorite mixed with citric acid. The result, Chlorine Dioxide, is about as dangerous to live human tissue as table salt and must not be confused with sodium hypochlorite, aka "industrial bleach." Glowing anecdotes testifying to the healing powers of CD fly in the face of propaganda. CD has saved many thousands of lives around the world from malaria and more; it helped me much more than conventional medicine, so I wanted to share the good news. Well, apparently, doing so is a violation of terms for WOT. They don't like it when kind-hearted people try to help others, it seems.

My post was respectful and explained the chemistry of a compound that is maligned by, I suspect, paid pharmaceutical shills. I wrote out the formula and the chain reactions that occur after internal administration. First I get a thumbs down minutes after posting the comment. Really? Real-time down-votes? Who does that?

Then I edit the post with even more information regarding the pathological synergy between heavy metal toxicity, liver stone disease and worm infestation and BAM! My 7 year old account is banned.

I contacted WOT to inquire as to what terms of use violations I was guilty of and would they please restore my account. No response.

Update: I checked the same website scorecard later from a new WOT account only to find that not only had my first bronze badge-rated account been banned and all reviews removed, but also the one other (years old) POSITIVE review submitted by another user was ALSO REMOVED! The two bullying, expletive-ridden, lying troll reviews are still there, which should be removed if terms of use are to be honored, all opinions being equal.

Four days later and still no reply from WOT. Big surprise there! What would they say if they did reply? Hmmmm... "Dear valued bronze status WOT member: We regret to inform you that we at Web Of Trust are the spawn of the Devil and therefore are abruptly terminating your account. No good deed *gag* goes unpunished. Henceforth your work is lost and you are forbidden from posting any more truther *gag* comments on our platform. Stop trying to be a good person, *gag* you are wasting your time and making us sick. Now kindly get lost. Sincerely, The Web Of Trust Team."

I did not violate their terms, rather they seem to be watching flagged websites live and frantically covering for the medical mafia, who deliberately interfere with information dissemination on viable and legitimate alternative treatments to protect billion-dollar, patent-based revenues.

Whether WOT's biased support of the abusive posts is based on misunderstanding or outright avarice and hatred, the effect is the same: the truth is cut down while invasive lies flourish.

Thanks a lot "WORGS (Web of Real Garbage and friends)" to quote TigerT, for being such loyal and staunch proponents of fascist capitalism and for, it "seems", leaving the suffering masses clueless and out in the cold. >:-/

Oh, and as an aside, WORGS/WOT/OWT sells any intimate data you may have via the Firefox extension. Can anyone say RAT Exploits?

Stay away from this

Stay away! Not a safe site, and do not trust. WOT uses extortion methods to try to get you to pay them. They delete the positive reviews, and focus on negative reviews. The browser plugin is a scam filled with malware. Hopefully they get shut down soon!

myWOT has a flawed rating method.

For instance, from their own Help Center:
"Why does my site have a poor reputation even though I just created it?
If your site is hosted as a sub-domain of a shared domain owned by your hosting service, the poor reputation is inherited from the parent domain."
That means that myWOT automatically and immediately gives you a negative rating just based on supposition, without even bothering to actually look at your website...
So, your website will be found "guilty by association" from the very beginning.
Is this a fair and trustworthy method? No.

Following are myWOT instructions on how you can get more/improve ratings for your website:
"If you want to improve the reputation, we recommend asking your friends, business partners, blog followers, or customers to submit ratings for the site. You can either ask them to use the WOT add-on, or simply point them to your site's scorecard where they can rate the site after creating an account."
How reliable and trustworthy is that? Anyone wealthy can bribe people to summit ratings in order to get a good site reputation at myWOT...
Conversely, anyone wealthy can bribe people to summit bad ratings in order to get some (competitor's) website a bad reputation at myWOT...

Web of Trust Potential Scam

When calling up my website, I noticed Web of Trust several listings below and was curious. It had listed my website as 0/100 in terms of safety. Because we reach out to many, many people and organizations with opportunities to change lives, I decided to check the site out. I registered and was immediately given an opportunity to download an html or metatag to upload to my website front page. Being a cautious person I did not proceed with this download, but instead sent a request for more information. After approximately, one week there was no response. Their site says 140,000,000 downloads (approximately 1/3 of US households.
Not being willing to continue with a potentially risky venture, I cannot say that this site is definitely a scam. I did not spend any money. I suspect I'll never get a response. However, if an organization's method of operation is to list you as unsafe without any actual review, there is a high level of probability that it is a scam of some kind. Probably best to avoid being associated with them and I strongly suggest you do not proceed with their download procedure.

MyWot is a very dishonest website that is involved in all kinds of scams and extortion. They routinely delete positive reviews from their website unless you've payed them. Because they have no business model whatsoever they depend on running an extortion scam. Their browser addon also monitors your surfing activity and they sell your data to scam artists. Hopefully the authorities will get involved soon to shut them down.
