Suffolk Trading Standards should be ashamed in not protecting the public from this company, especially as ‘Jim’ was already on their radar.

Court Summons Recommended!
This is a carbon copy tbh of the experience of so many on here. One star is one too many for this thief. Immaterial possibly now as his website states that he’s no longer taking orders, so looks like the net is closing around him.
Ordered 10x hurdles and 15 litres of wood preserver in October 2022. He emailed after a long time to say they were “ready to ship”. I paid over £900 not long after in good faith and that’s when the runaround began. Delivery dates randomly provided with no consultation and then missed. No phone calls answered. Excuses via email etc etc.
Long story short, as the debt was over £800, I threatened a Winding-Up Petition and the goods arrived the next day! Well, the hurdles did, but not the preserver and that’s worth £106.
Continued emails and no response. Advised I intended to sue in January. Off sick since February so delay getting round to it.
Court Summons now issued so let’s see if he ignores the Courts!
Like others have said, he and his wife sold 56 Allens Hill, Bozeat in April 2010 for £570,000 and bought Vales Hall, Fressingfield at the same time for £927,500, so they’ve got capital!
In 2014, both he and his wife were made bankrupt but he set up in the same business again. Trading Standards took him to court and the judge said he had conned everyone! He was supposed to clean up his business practices or he would be in contempt of court. That carries a custodial sentence.
My question is why he has been allowed to trade for almost 10 more years when Trading Standards could easily have taken him back to court and had him banged up?! It would have saved all these people on here the heartache and financial loss.
My lessons learned from this are. . .check Trustpilot next time I intend to buy from someone I don’t know!!
My only regret is not posting this earlier and warning more people when I had the chance. I apologise for that and would just say don’t hesitate to sue him as it’s quite easy and not too expensive. Good luck, I hope you all get your money back.
UPDATE: As of 1 August 2023 Natural Fencing t/a Winstow Limited is in Liquidation.

I ordered in June ‘22 was contacted to say the order was ready. I duly paid nearly £600 for fencing, then nothing…. No contact, No delivery, No answer to several emails, No answer when phoned. I have requested a refund, threatened court, no response!

I wish I had read these reviews before I paid. How is this legitimate looking website allowed to still be live when there have been so many court cases and trading standards rulings against this guy? When I’ve done some digging his wife featured in country living magazine showing off their luxury country home …..paid for with stolen money 😡

James Lynch Maydon is the sole director of Winstow Limited The Natural Fencing Company. He took my payment for fencing supplies 11 months ago.
He has not delivered the goods I ordered. And he has refused to issue a refund.
Yesterday a County Court Judge found him to be in breach of contract and issued a CCJ against him which will only be removed from the register in the event that he repays what he owes me.
He refuses to respond to any form of communication.
If you are having a similar experience it is worth you knowing that he lives at Vales Hall, Dales Road, Fressingfield, IP21 5RL.
He purchased it in 2010 for £927,500 so if he owes you money too, you know where to find him, and that he has significant assets that should enable him to repay his debt to you.

Rating should be zero. My story is the same as most other people who have ordered from this company - seduced by pretty pictures and allegiance with National Trust. I ordered, I waited, I was asked to pay up because delivery was imminent. After that - nothing. No response to increasingly irate emails. No delivery. After three months I cancelled the order and requested a refund. A month later they have not responded. Have no choice but start proceedings to recover hundreds of pounds. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!

Ordered 7 hurdles in April 2022. Limited communication until August 2022 when I was emailed that they were completed, ready for delivery and so duly paid the full amount as requested, £700.
No hurdles arrived by September, so I contacted Suffolk Citizens Advice who gave me the correct legal procedures, templates and advice to pursue a full refund. Not an onerous task. They also passed on my experience to Suffolk Trading Standards who told me they are collating an ever increasing file relating to this firm. If your experience has been similar to mine contact them too. They’ll appreciate it.
At the end of January 2023 I submitted a Small Claims Court (easy to do online). Finally getting a full refund plus Court costs and interest in March 2023.

Lovely rustic gate
I had a very good experience with this company. I ordered a bespoke 'hobbit' style gate 1.5m high x 60 cm wide. I first contacted them in October of last year. Received a quote beginning of November which I was very happy with. After a little tooing and froing, I confirmed the order a week before Christmas. The gate was made on the 4th January and I was sent a photo and an invoice which I paid by return. Jim confirmed receipt of payment and said he would arrange delivery. There was a slight delay, but yesterday I was contacted by a courier to confirm they had my gate and posts and would be delivering today, 10th February. The gate is great and I am very happy with the overall experience of buying from this company.

Great communication prior to placing order. Invoice and photo of goods emailed to me over a week ago. Goods looked just as I had hoped. Paid the invoice in good faith..and then radio silence! Have emailed several times and phoned daily (always going to recorded message)
Pleased to report that my panels have finally arrived over 2 weeks after originally promised. They are very well made and good value for money.
Scam Company
No delivery, place order in September, in November I was told my order was ready, so I paid in Full as requested over £700.00 and then complete failure to deliver. No comms now since December and will be going to small claims court now. Avoid this company they take your money and never deliver.

My experience of this company is so like many others, I ordered 5 hazel panels in June 2021, I sent 6 e mails to find out where the order I made had got to. I had the false promises regarding when they were to be delivered, why they hadn't been delivered etc, then nothing. I got advice from a solicitor and wrote a final e mail to say I was making a time of essence for the agreement, and the fact that there was a material breach of contract, so to give them a last chance to return my money or provide me with my goods I paid in full for. 8 weeks on and not a dicky bird has come forth from them. My decision now, do I continue to take them to small claims court, or just put it down to experience. Can anyone tell me if any of their efforts to go to small claims court has been successful regarding this dreadful company?
SAME SAME SAME
Like many on here, we are very keen to buy British and support local craftsmen making beautiful things. Our order was placed at the beginning of May 2022, for a couple of six foot hurdles and seven three foot hurdles. We had confirmation & an email at the end of June saying, 'nearly there'. Importantly on the 4th August we were told, 'ready to go'. Jim sent an invoice with a promise to dispatch once payment had gone through. We duly paid & then silence with no hurdles. After 30 days (6th Sept) we received an apology, saying it should come this or next week. However, three weeks later we still have nothing and no update. My partner Jed has been writing to Jim & has been very patient. But we are getting pressure from our neighbour who is sick of us being able to see into her garden (and she's probably not enjoying seeing our slightly messy one either). We understand the stresses of running a small business. We'd really, really like the hurdles & will happily update on here once received. But if we don't hear from Jim soon, we will have to take him to the Small Claims court.

DON’T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. Despite their horrendous reviews I put this down to covid and I stupidly ordered 22 Hazel Hurdles on 15th May 2022. I had a message in late June 2022 saying they were delayed and then finally was told on 4th August that they were ready for delivery as soon as I paid £1651. I paid this on 5th August and they have gone silent despite 4 chaser emails and umpteen calls to their only phone number. There is never an answer and no ability to leave a message. I believe this is probably a fraud and will be taking measures to recover my money.

I wish I'd check the reviews here before ordering, my experience was just the same as so many others.
I ordered 10 hazel hurdles, as nowhere locally had them in stock. There were repeated delays in delivery, followed by no responses to my emails.
Thankfully I had the foresight to pay by credit card so after asking for and failing to get a refund after three months, I approached my credit card company for a section 75 refund.
Halifax were excellent and refunded my card, but the company continued to dispute it with them (despite having made no delivery after 3 months!). That took another few months to resolve and caused some stress.
An Excellent Experience
I ordered a jumbo wigwam from Natural Fencing at the end of January. Although there was one delay of one week in the delivery date, it came when it was expected. Throughout the process communication was good, and all questions were replied to. The product itself is wonderful, a beautiful colour and very robustly built. It makes a very attractive addition to the garden. The grandchildren will be delighted using it.
Excellent Service and Products
We ordered our hazel hurdles with Jim at Natural Fencing and received his invoice.
He said that as soon as we had paid he would get the hurdles dispatched.
We went to our Barclays online banking site to pay the invoice and had a message warning us that the bank couldn't be verified and to pay at our own risk as no monies could be recovered if something went wrong.
We were a bit suspicious so decided to look at the reviews - which were dreadful.
We didn't pay and emailed Jim to cancel our order.
Jim emailed us straight back to say that the bank was a bank in Ireland which they went with because it was a less expensive option for them for their online trading.
He also said that he had already dispatched the hurdles and that payment on receipt would be fine.
Our hurdles arrived the very next day.
What can I say then - our experience with Jim and Natural Fencing was absolutely tremendous. Ordered on the Thursday, dispatched on the Friday, delivered on the Tuesday! Don't know what has gone on before and all those dreadful reviews.
We definitely give them 5 Stars - great customer service, very good value for money and an excellent product.
