HDMI to mini display port does not work

Ordered a HDMI to mini display port cable. Does not work. After 44 days of back and forth emails, theirs in mostly incomprehensible gibberish posing as English, still not close to getting a refund. Example of approach of this company? Asking for a video proving the part being dysfunctional.

Newegg not too bad, Purolator are TRASH

Ok, so I ordered a motherboard, CPU, and some RAM from Newegg.
The motherboard and CPU arrived today, left in a snow bank for 3 hours before notifying me it was delivered so the box was completely soaked through...Purolator are HORRIBLE, for the record...but the RAM...the shipping label was created on the 16th of March, it is now the 23rd of March, and the RAM is still just sitting there, unshipped, for 7 days, so I literally cannot finish my PC build

I contacted customer support and spoke with an agent named Amanda. She was very helpful and polite, especially considering I was quite pissed off at first.
She did a great job, was very friendly and helped me submit complaints about Purolator as well as getting me an expedited replacement order.

So the TL;DR is:
Newegg are actually not bad and have good customer support
Purolator are an absolutely TRASH company who don't give a damn about their clients or the packages they deliver to those clients If at all possible NEVER use Purolator as a shipping option

Beware of high shipping costs

I received a Gift Card for Christmas and was looking forward to spending it at newegg.ca. I live in a somewhat remote area, but we have a Canada Post office here and I have never had anyone charge me $84 dollars for shipping something that weighs a few grams and fits in a small Xpress Post envelope. I will use my gift card, but never use newegg.ca ever again and actively inform people of there rip-off rates for shipping.

Newegg Canada is the ART of BAD BUSINESS

I acquired back in January 2022 a pre-built PC from Newegg's house-brand (California-based ABS). I was used to build my own PC's, but this time wanted to try and trust NewEgg's brand (I am a 7-year Newegg Canada customer).

It was a close to the top, high-end Gaming PC (worth 4000$) with most of components and specs looking reliable. There were 2 weakness points however :

1. RAM installed was only 16GB, totally insufficient for high-gaming experience, so I had to upgrade this to 32GB, replacing and reselling existing 16GB modules … and voiding PC warranty without knowing ! Nice trick, is it not ?

2. Video card (nVidia RTX3080) was manufactured by GIGABYTE (in most opinions, the weakest of the big three's – MSI and ASUS being top quality) ... risk was a little higher to get problems because of known occasional cheaper chipsets (based on some reviews on the net). Problem when selling is that they do not mention which brand it is going to be … another nice trick !

The video card was not performing at full efficiency as expected, right from beginning, but ABS refused to replace it. Then, last month (October), the video card finally worn out and started "black screens" issues, with the final outcome of now not booting at all. Card was never overclocked, except what it was designed for by GIGABYTE.

I contacted ABS through their California customer service (chat), but finally ended up with an email from a supervisor stating that they were sorry, but they could not offer parts replacement to their Canadian customers !!!!!!!! WOW, Magnifique !!! … and no mention anywhere on their web site that warranty coverage is of different quality level for Canadians !!!

I then contacted New Egg Canada customer service (chat) with exactly the same result : no parts replacement in Canada and no PC replacement (even within 1-year warranty) because RAM was upgraded to 32GB and were not the original modules ! RAM has absolutely no effect on video card defect. Furthermore, I suggested to simply re-use new PC 16GB RAM and swap the modules into the returning unit, so I keep my own investment in the 32GB modules and they fulfill the requirement of same original build… This was making a lot of sense … if good will and honesty in finding win-win solutions is the objective.

Trying to negotiate with Newegg Canada was just as bad as rigidness of their parent company ABS ... I am stuck with that defective video card and neither ever demonstrated the least effort to solve the issue !

So, BEWARE, they prefer to save a few hundred bucks while not honouring their warranty and discriminating CANADIAN customers rather than understanding the long-term benefit of selling again and again to a happy customer, repeating business through faith and trust.

Simple enough, message clear, I hope that this will serve other people in avoiding a high-risk situation of being deceived.

Conclusion en français : New Egg Canada offre un produit-maison (ABS) qui peut contenir des composantes de haut prix, comme une carte vidéo à 1500$+, de marque de moins bonne qualité (GIGABYTE, connue pour parfois inclure des chipsets de moindre qualité) et deviennent très rigides dans l’application de la garantie en cherchant des problèmes (des raisons pour éviter d’honorer leur garantie) plutôt que des solutions.
Je RECOMMANDE FORTEMENT D’ÉVITER L’ACHAT DE PRODUITS CHEZ NEW EGG Canada, qui n'ont démontré aucun effort minimum à chercher une solution gagnant-gagnant !

Acheter chez Newegg Canada est à haut risque.

I bought a $2000 CyberPower PC computer…

I bought a $2000 CyberPower PC computer through New Egg. 2 months later the computer stopped working.

I called New Egg and they told me I need to deal with the manufacturer, (CyberPower PC) directly. The manufacturer is in California, they offered to repair it but if I wanted it repaired, I needed to pay for the shipping myself from Canada to California and then back to Canada when the repair is complete. I was also encouraged by the fact that they encouraged me to insure the shipment because should anything happen in transit, I would be responsible. There was also no timeline on when I would get the computer back.

I asked if I could just have my money back since this seemed like an unreasonable ask considering I spent $2k on a computer 2 months ago. The people at CyberPower did not flinch or show any sign of empathy for the fact that this really isn't right and made 0 attempt to make it even close to being right.

I would not recommend Newegg.ca or CyberPower PC to anyone in Canada, I have to think that there are better choices out there and I regret this purchase.

Missing keyboard - support refused to send one

The computer arrived, but it was missing the keyboard that was supposed to come with it. When I messaged support, they were incredibly unhelpful. They basically told me that they couldn't just send me the keyboard separately, and all they were willing to do was refund $30 off my total purchase price (which was over $2,000!) I'm sorry, but if it was THEIR screw up not shipping me the correct parts, then they should be OBLIGATED to send me the missing items. I definitely will never shop here again.

Careless client support, stolen items

I bought PC items for 3000$ on New Egg Canada and the carrier (Purolator) just delivered the package in front of my door on the road as I was not at home. The packages were obviously stolen. I contacted Purolator who told me to check with the neighbors or if the package was not carefully hidden by the carrier. This was not the case, and Purolator eventually confirmed that they just put the package not hidden at all, and that I needed to see with Newegg for next steps. Newegg issues 2 claims but denied it eventually (no email, I needed to call to get some news) because "it has been correctly delivered". However when you check their Canada delivery policy page it is written carriers MUST check if they can put the package in a safe place. So they are just not consistent & honest with that.
Updates : after getting a police report and advice from the OPC I reissued a claim. Which was denied all the same by NewEgg. Besides, Purolator had the nerves to send me a survey to measure my satisfaction, but when I clicked on the link, I had a message saying that it was a mistake that they sent the survey to me.

Newegg sales and support is a joke

Newegg behind the scenes is one of the most disorganized companies I have ever done business with. If anything goes wrong with your order, be prepared for a very long and frustrating process that is basically broken. Newegg has no control over their 3rd party vendors. When an item you've paid for never shows up, its your word against the 3rd party vendors word, with newegg trying to act like the ref. After jumping through countless hoops and almost a week of correspondence with newegg and the third party vendor, they finally issued me and RMA for something I didn't even have, It took them several business days to turn the RMA into an actual refund order, and then another 3 business days for them to send me official correspondence that a refund was issued. I was told I would see funds back in my account in 3 to 5 business days. On the 6th business day, I called newegg customer service. After waiting on hold for a long time I got a call on my second line from the customer service rep i was talking to. Apparently the first line we were using "froze" and this happens sometimes. ok.... The customer service rep put me on hold again for about 20 mins and came back on the line to say yes the refund order was issued, but that it was never actually sent to my account. Apparently someone must have forgotten. So anyway, now im told, this has to be escalated to their accounts payable and it will take them 2 to 3 business days to investigate this, at which point they will actually send the refund which I'm assuming will once again take another 3-5 business days to actually post to my credit card. Are you feeling me here? Do yourself a fav, stay clear of newegg canada.

Do Not Buy From Newegg.ca - Terrible Device Replacement Policies

Don't buy anything of value from Newegg.ca if you expect a hassle free replacement policy.

I bought a new laptop on sale from newegg.ca and had to send it in for replacement immediately due to backlight bleeding.

Newegg happily accepted the return, only to deny the replacement (claiming it was out of stock). Then on the same business day, they posted the exact same laptop on their website (new listing), with a $900 increase.

I believe they intentionally did not honor the replacement due to the sale being close to over.

I spoke to chat (online and phone) including a supervisor, and they couldn't help me reach a reasonable solution.

Shady practices. Honestly, just buy from almost anywhere else.

I bought 800$ headphones

I bought 800$ headphones, received the item . Original box was bigger than shipping box so they crushed it inside. More… it was an open box item… headphones…. I mean wth 800$ brand new headphones plz!!! They say they will credit me after receiving photos, now more than a week , no call back . When i call , put in hold for more than an hour everytime….. you just stole 1k from me . Never again

NEWEGG DECIDED TO TROLL TO DEATH AND REJECT IT as it arrived with bent pins, it was a systematic attack once again and you can check online for more reviews. Keep in mind that the board purchased was " open box " and newegss team " made sure " its issue free before shipping it to customer. Scammers scammers and scammers.

Bought an item on sale and credit card…

Bought an item on sale and credit card was charged immediately for the item only to receive an email next day saying it was out of stock at the time I placed the order. The email indicated my money would be refunded in 1-2 days due to the CC company processing times. Then I received another email today saying that the refund was processed and it will take 3-5 business days to refund!

Shipped to a totally different address than mine. UPS won't tell me who received the package and now Newegg wants me to return the package to get my money back. What a scam and waste of time. I put a claim into Paypal right away because they are giving me the run around.

Half of Contents missing, no refund from Newegg Canada

Paid $314 for a pair of SDRAM's from Newegg.ca The envelope delivered by Purolator had a broken plastic SDRAM package inside with half the contents missing. Newegg said it was delivered completely yet the weight of the envelope I received with the missing SDRAM was not less than what Purolator said the package weighed when they got it from Newegg. Multiple polite responses about reviewing the case from Newegg Canada but no followup and no refund.

DO NOT TRUST THE MARKETPLACE

DO NOT TRUST THE MARKETPLACE! The company I ordered from on the marketplace only allowed shipping through that company. It turns out that the third party shipping is some guy from that company drives it to my personal house. This wasn't the type of guy you want in your neighborhood, and the next morning my wicker chairs were stolen. I can't PROVE it was them, but c'mon!

When I told newegg's customer service about it they shrugged me off and basically said "third party sellers do their own thing". Basically, trust the newegg marketplace as much as you would trust craigslist. It's very unsafe and as far as I can see completely unregulated.
