Thanks For The Trauma!
An awful, traumatizing, and dehumanizing experience.
As a previously behaviorally-challenged teen, now functional adult, I can assure you there are many better options for treatment out there.
First, reports were made against staff for inappropriate behavior, including discussing politics or adult topics with the teen patients. Nothing came of these, and staff continued to behave inappropriately with patients.
Second, as I said, this was dehumanizing. Little effort was made for even the simplest of accommodations, and much of the treatment was cookie-cutter and surface level (completely unhelpful.)
I wouldn't call this care, I would call it a glorified prison for struggling teens. Do better for your children and do not trust Newport Academy to treat your child with respect and empathy or to help them heal.
