Rated 3 out of 5 stars

3 Stars for 2 products, but 5 Stars for Karlo at Customer Service Dept.

3 Stars for 2 products: Bento Bag and Small Tomogachi Sling Bag. Both are way overpriced for what you get for your money.
Materials on both bags are stiffer than what you would expect from luxury bags. The Bento Bag needs several improvements: The exterior bottle holder is completely useless, too small and too short to fit my medium size Yeti water bottle. The leather straps are always on the way and will not lay flat to the sides when opening the main compartments. The zippers are NOT very smooth for a high end product. The actual capacity though organized is smaller than what I expected for a clamshell, and when it’s full, it can get heavy and uncomfortable, it also tightened up the exterior zippered front pocket. In other words, it becomes less flexible due to its stiffer material. The two bonus items that are included with the Bento Bag are TOO SMALL and NOT that useful. The Small Tomogachi Sling Bag in Black color is NOT a nice, vibrant black color, but more of dull black. The shape is slightly crooked on the curved corners. The size is OK, but the zipper is not very smooth and has tendency to get stuck around the corners. Free shipping requires over $200 purchase and non-refundable shipping fee for order less than $200 when returned. Buyers, BEWARE of their FINAL SALE items because whether you like it or not, you CANNOT return them nor exchange them. I am stuck with the Berry colored Bento Bag that I completely regret of buying just because it was 30% off. I could not sell it because nobody would buy it at $212. I honestly think their products are overpriced and overrated. Quite a disappointment.
However, this 5 Stars is for Karlo at the Nomad Lane Customer Service Team for his patience and understanding for my return and exchange then return again of the Tomogachi Sling Bag. He communicated via emails within reasonable amount of time and was always very pleasant and explained in details every aspect of my orders and returns. Karlo definitely stands out as an EXCEPTIONAL employee of this company and FYI, I am NOT paid to say this about Karlo.

The bento bag is excellent, but the customer service is even better!

Well, first of all, this is my second Nomad Lane bento bag, which, given the cost, says something! It seems a lot to pay for a personal item bag, but in an age of increasingly stringent carry on rules (Canadian airlines are starting to charge for carry on cases, only the personal item is free with some fare types), it really pays to have a personal item bag that maximizes space. The bag is really well designed for organization, with so many different zippers and compartments, but done in a way that just makes sense. For example, the bag lays flat and unzips completely so you can pack it like a suitcase, but there are two top pockets that are easy to pack with flight essentials and access easily during a flight. The included clear toiletries bag fits in one of those pockets, and is easy to access during pre-flight security. It is small enough to satisfy even stringent European security requirements. The other pocket is perfect for those small in flight essentials that make a longer flight more comfortable - mine is mostly filled with snacks :-) These two pockets take up much of the space in one half of the case, leaving room for things like a pair of shoes, first aid kit, TSA-compliant emergency kit, book, "junk drawer" pouch, travel laundromat, and a few other things. The other half of the case essentially functions like a compression cube on steroids. You would not believe what you can fit in there! Packing judiciously with items that mix and match with a carefully thought out flight outfit, you can easily pack for a week. One of my two bags is kept in my car at all times as a 'just in case' motel bag. In just one half of the case, I can fit: a pair of leggings; 2 long sleeve and 1 short sleeve merino wool T; a collared blouse; a fine wool cape; a light kimono style top; a flannel nightgown that doubles as a robe; 3 pairs of socks and 3 pairs of unmentionables. (Mind you, this is all plus sized clothing!) The other half has ballet flats, slippers, toiletries, and other necessities. There is space for a tablet/mini laptop and various chargers, as well as a book and a few other things I like to have with me when I travel. Despite how good the bag is though, it is the customer service that really makes this company stand out. You are not dealing with a mega giant here! Customer service is personalized and you find someone who really listens to you. I ordered something during the Black Friday sale, then later changed my mind about the colour I wanted. Hey, no problem, of course we can send your preferred colour. There was a mistake with the order during their Black Friday rush, and customer service immediately sent a prepaid label for me to return the item for what I wanted. They even went to the trouble of looking up the 3 UPS locations closest to the border for me! You won't get that kind of service from [insert your preferred mega online shopping platform here.] The couple who started this company have put their all into it, and it really shows!

SCAMMERS

The worst place to purchase from. Pretty sure fraudulent business. I bought bento bag. Decided I didn’t like it, emailed them within the time allowed for returns, they provided with their address (apparently they hide it from the public). I shipped it back, using my own money. A month later, it comes back to my address, they had apparently refused it. Then I emailed them, and this time they gave me a prepaid fedex label. So once again I shipped it back to them and then a month later it comes back to me. No refunds.
