Went to Norcutts in Widnes today. Ate lunch at the restaurant. Food was fabulous and clean premises. Including clean cutlery. Lovely staff, found them to be fast and efficient. Will go again

Very disappointing menu
Very disappointing menu, and the food even worst. The best they had by 1 for lunch was a very average jacket potato. Not even the pasta from the children menu were good, they were really undercooked. We used to come here a lot, but the breakfast menu got thinner as well, and the quality is really what not it used to be. :( I wish they didn't lose their standards and enthusiasm. Last time here..
Dogs not allowed everywhere as it seems by their website
I’ll start by saying this review is for the restaurant, not the rest of the centre. I planned an afternoon out with my family to do some shopping at Notcutts in Ditchling and then have a bite at the restaurant. Before setting off I checked to make sure dogs are allowed. Their website seems proud to say that ‘Dogs Welcome’. Then I checked the restaurant specific page, scroll down and it says ‘pet friendly’ right next to an image of a dog. All over the centre there’s references dogs are welcome. Well, they’re NOT! Not in the restaurant. So we went today and sat down for lunch. Placed our order, paid and only then, while waiting for our food we were told our little yorkipoo isn’t allowed in! Say again!? There’s posters all over the place saying the opposite. But again, they explained not in the restaurant. Makes no sense to me. Pubs that are a lot more crowded and intimate than the spacious Notcutts dining area happily allow dogs. We were told to leave our dog in the outside sitting area in the 5C temp. Without choice we did that and waited for our food to arrive to down it and leave as quickly as possible. But behold, our order was messed up 3 times before they got it right which prolonged our stay. We just wrapped everything for home and left. Never to go back again unless their dog policies change!!! Mediocre service, good food and selection, poor experience. Make it obvious if dogs aren’t allowed. Don’t promote the opposite all over the place and online!

Beautiful garden centre however I had the Turkey Brioche. The Turkey was so dry pigs in blankets dry roast potatoes must have been standing for a while very hard to chew. Must say I have had this before and it was delicious. Disappointed this time round

had a coffee in the cafe very clean and spacious good chocolate this has just been refurbished
Terrible customer service in Restaurant
Terrible customer service within the restaurant in Woodford. Staff standing around trying to look busy whilst the person appearing to be in charge was too busy clearing tables to sit people down. As a disabled person I gave up waiting after 10 mins despite there being plenty of space as nowhere to sit whist queuing and empty promises of getting to us soon. Shame as I have been a regular visitor in the past but will think twice before returning.

Went last Saturday to look at fish tanks went yesterday to buy it to find it was £30 more!! Then to be told prices change weekly???absolute disgraceful and idiotic staff with there replies 🙄
Online delivery excellent
I decided to chance an online delivery with this company, the reviews on here didn’t look great but I was only wanting to order a hamster cage, what could go wrong? Absolutely nothing did 😀 My order arrived at my door after 2 days, I was given a text delivery time slot on the day which was great & it was well packaged. I saved around £20 buying from this company & I got £5 off my order for signing up to their email newsletter. I would happily order from Notcutts again. All the negative reviews here just makes me think so many people are too quick to complain & not many people bother to stop & compliment!
Notcutts Woodford Park-Avoid!!
Yesterday I visited Notcutts at Woodford Park and I can honestly say I have never encountered such rude, obnoxious and unhelpful staff both in the garden centre and restaurant. I’m not one for writing reviews but I’ll make an exception for this establishment. Please find an alternative garden centre where the staff won’t make you feel uncomfortable and struggle to crack a smile. Such a shame, the place has great potential if it weren’t for the staff. I won’t be visiting again nor will other people I have informed.
The restaurant at Notcutts
The restaurant at Notcutts, Staines, used to be a nice place to visit but things have taken a severe turn for the worse since lockdown. They have seen fit to abolish the catering discounts from their loyalty card (the main reason many, like myself, purchased one) while not reducing the price of membership, they have also hiked the prices of their food and drink - in some cases quite severely. It is such a shame as I will no longer visit the centre where I used to spend a great deal on food, plants and goods.
Cancelled my order - DO NOT BUY FROM WEBSITE
Cancelled my order, extremely disappointed as the items were hard to find. Website stock list not up to date. Very disappointed.
appalling quality plants - one to avoid
oh my word what a truly disappointing garden centre ( Notcutts in Nuneham Courtney Oxfordshire ) - a vast number of plants were in a terrible state - very leggy very straggly very dry and I doubt they’ll ever grow into acceptable plants
we definitely won’t be going back - it was dreadful
I have never come across a Café or Restaurant who would accommodate this.
Just a simple thing. We visited Notcutts Café in Ashton-under-Lyne at 1.45pm on 18th September 2021. We asked for the potatoes to be changed for chips with our daughters fishcake meal when we were ordering. Apparently this is not possible because they would have to take the potatoes off the plate to add the chips. Given the time it took for our food to come they obviously don't have meals plated up ready before they are ordered. It was a very simply request, I have never heard of a any café or restaurant not being able accommodate this, particularly for children. They said I would have to by the chips separately on top of the price of the meal. We can eat healthily at home, we should be able to choose what I want to eat when I am out. This isn't to much to ask. I not sure if it is policy, or whether it was just someone being awkward in the kitchen. Either way it's not good customer service.
Advertised serving breakfast to 11:45…
Advertised serving breakfast to 11:45 here at 11:20 not doing any food till dinnertime And told us breakfast is finished it’s not that busy which is a shame won’t be relying on them again in the future and their Internet connection is very slow in the café Very disappointing all round
I ordered a Brittany dining set
I ordered a Brittany dining set, a few weeks ago, received a confirmation email, and then received a phone call to say it would be delivered the following week, all sounds great right. Yes dining set was delivered by a nice chap, very helpful in placing goods in garden.
We went to put the table together, 3 legs done, but the fourth one doesn’t fit at all.
Contact customer service by email enclosing photos of problem leg, get a response of have forward your problem to our webstore.
I have again emailed customer service today, the response I got was have been in contact with webstore and will email you an update as soon as we can.
Not particularly helpful as the dining set is now out of stock. Think this might be the most expensive 6 chairs, 2 footstools, side table and umbrella known to man.
Just wonder how long before this is rectified.
Will I buy from them again, most probably not.
Poor quality plants delivered
I ordered 10x Thuja Emerald trees of between 80-100cm. I received 10x dying 70cm trees.
Social Distancing Concerns
Have recently returned from visiting Edwalton, Nottingham branch. Social distancing measures at the exit are non existent. People who are queuing to pay and those already at the till points are experiencing people who do not require the tills, having to push past them in close proximity, via the same till points, to leave the store. Surely this needs to be addressed. It seems illogical to put all the measures in place for social distancing around the store, only for the exit points not to meet the required guidelines. This seems unfair to be placing both staff and customers in this vulnerable position.
Rubbish Seed compost
Bought three bags of seed compost from my local Nottcutts rather than drive an extra 10 miles for a known and trusted brand. Wish I’d been less lazy. Honestly, standard B&Q multipurpose is finer than this rubbish. I had to sieve it all and throw about 1 1/2 bags worth of coarse material, up to an inch in diameter, straight onto the beds. Lesson learned.... again.
Rat droppings in notcutts nuneham Courtney
Just visited the nuneham courtney store and absolutely horrified when I noticed my dog eating something off the floor and saw that there was lots of rat droppings, smarties chocolate and the wrappers all over the floor!! This is absolutely disgusting this store should not have opened in this state surely? I told a member of staff what had happened and asked is there rat poison in the store which he replied yes scattered around so I told him my dog had been eating something off the floor and I saw rat dropping and chocolate and surely there should be signs up warning customers of this a d he replied yes that’s a good idea!!I’m just hoping my dog isn’t sick after this. I can’t believe this can happen they were then frantically hoovering but a bit to late now!! I Also mentioned this to a supervisor who just said sorry about that when I told her my dog had eaten some of it whether it was rat pop chocolate or rat poison didn’t seem to bother any of them!!! I’m absolutely fuming and very worried about my dog and for other customers who may do the same thing and also the ones who buy food products that have obviously had rats on them!!
Victoria - Breaking COVID Rules
I have just visited the Victoria store and my first impressions were great. I was very sceptical visiting at this time of year given the current pandemic.
However as I was queueing to pay I was utterly disgusted with what happened to me.
Another customer was stood outside the barriers of the queue waiting for someone, she was stood rather close already so I wasn’t entirely comfortable anyway but as I got to the front a staff member asked her to queue inside the barrier and wait there. She was then stood directly at the side of me and I had nowhere to go unless I was willing to leave the queue which I had been waiting in for 20 minutes.
I have reported this matter and I am very disappointed with this behaviour. The company should be grateful that they’re allowed to open during this latest lockdown, I run a toy shop and have been forced to close again losing thousands at this time of year. I will not be returning
Nottingham - mealybugs on purchased plant
Nottingham: I love the range of houseplants. However, recently bought a plant and now it's home, I can see it has been infected with mealybugs (which are hard to eliminate and can pass to other plants). I've kept it separate to my other plants so, hopefully, there won't be any cross-contamination.
When I was in store, I noticed one had them and informed a member of staff. I chose the same plant from a different location and it appeared unaffected but sadly isn't. Now I have the expense and inconvenience of having to treat the plant to try and get rid of them. Wish me luck - they are pesky!
