Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 88 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with payment processes, often receiving fines despite paying, or being charged multiple times for the same session. Customers frequently faced high charges, typically £60 to £100, for minor infractions, short overstays, or due to unclear signage and non-functional payment machines. The appeals process was often difficult, and unpaid charges quickly escalated to debt collection, resulting in increased fees and significant stress for many. Reviewers widely perceived the company's practices as overly focused on maximizing profit through penalties rather than effective parking management.

Horrible company with robot like staff

Horrible company with staff that do not deviate from the script. I paid for parking at the time, but the pay station glitched during payment and did not produce a receipt (penguin appeared on screen). I thought I may have to get a new ticket but checked my account and saw that the transaction had gone through. 1 week later, I received a PCN through the post. I immediately appealed this and showed evidence of the transaction on my account. I hadn't heard anything for months so assumed that my appeal was accepted, but last week I received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus stating that I had to pay £170. I tried getting in touch with Ocean directly and they referred me to their information email. I raised the above with them and they claimed that they rejected my appeal 2-weeks after (it went in my junk and then deleted). The reason for rejection was that the reg plate was not put into their system but this was because their own pay station glitched so did not send through the required info!! I told them this but they could not care less, so I provided further information of my initial payment, including the Terminal ID, Authorisation Code and the Acquirer's reference from my bank. I asked Ocean if they could check transactions on the pay station within a 10-minute window on the date but they would do nothing and said that they would not accept multiple appeals. I have shown clear evidence of payment and the error was the fault of their own system, but I'm still having to pay out because they won't follow up on any details. I would have went to court about it but can't risk it affecting my credit score as I'm trying to move out - unnecessary amount of stress added that was not needed. Don't bother ringing Anchor Security Services either because they're in the same office so won't help you with anything. Terrible company - will be getting in touch with the land owners to make them aware of the terrible service (if they aren't already aware).

Do not shop at Gloucester Quays

Outrageous.....despite shopping at their outlets, we were fined £60 for staying a couple of minutes more than 2 hours despite the fact there were 100's of free spaces....we wont shop there again. We have since been contacted by others fined for similar experience and it appears that customers are going to start boycotting the retail park. I can imagine the landlords will be overjoyed

Disgusting excuse for a company

Disgusting excuse for a company
Avoid shopping at Milton Keynes area E1. Entered from Silbury Ave side and no signs to indicate privately owned. All signage indicated that car park belonged to the city council. Parked up opposite a council machine, paid said machine, no markings on floor or again signage to indicate private owned. 14 days later i receive a PCN for no ticket despite paying at the ticket machine opposite. Challenged to be told id parked in the wrong area of the car park and i wasn't in a council space and that there was 47 different signs around the car park to indicate otherwise. Surely my eyesight isn't that bad not to notice at least one sign indicating private ownership. Funnily enough on rejection of the appeal they immediately reduced the charge to £20. On principle i dont want to pay this but feel i have no choice but i cant prove the poor signage as i live nearly 3 hours away. This is just pure entrapment of unwary visitors to the city center

Worst nightmare situation

Worst nightmare situation. Day light robbery in UK ! Been done twice. Once you walk over to Gloucester Quays shops, You get fined. Even the shops do not warn you. Amazing how Ocean Parking gets away. The signage not as clear. May be on purpose. Last time We use Gloucester Quays. Done it for many years. Not now.

Daylight thievery

Parked in a car park called "Gloucester Quays Retail Car Park" and visited the site "Gloucester Quays" right next to it. Apparently they don't belong to each other, though obviously this is not made clear by Ocean... why would they. Their "officer" covertly see me leaving, but makes no attempt to inform me that I would be in the wrong... any surprise there? No clear explanation on PCN other than "abused patron parking" as if everyone would know what that means. POPLA sided with them, so here I'm... paid them now.

Parking in Central Milton Keynes the…

Parked in Central Milton Keynes the other day and paid parking at a meter in the carpark. Four days later had a PCN for not displaying a ticket. Turns out the meter used belongs to Milton Keynes council and not Ocean parking , no signs are displayed saying not to use the meter for the carpark run by them. I assume this is just an entrapment device for Ocean to make more money.

I parked on Mc Donalds car park in…

I parked on Mc Donalds car park in Walsall. Received a parking fine from Ocean who manage the car park saying that I hadn't paid for car parking. You don't expect to pay for parking at Mc Donalds! I entered my reg number on a little machine in the corner of the restaurant to validate my stay yet they claim that I didn't. I appealed and didn't hear back from them until just over a month later saying that as I hadn't paid I now owed them £100. I said you haven't given me the decision of my appeal how can you put the fine up?! The reckon that they had emailed me the outcome (offering a reduction down to £20 if paid within 14 days) but I genuinely did not receive this email, despite receiving replies to every other email I sent them. I told them I had not received anything yet they have refused to honour the reduced rate offer (that I never received) and are demanding £100. That was one expensive Happy Meal! McDonalds are also in the process of trying to get rid of them as they are losing custom because of this scamming company!

Clearly just money hungry. The new parking enforcement in Gloucester is ludicrous and having a staff member there definitely is not welcoming.

Shocking Robbers

Shocking Robbers, parked at Peel Centre Gloucester, apparently not allowed to leave the premises of the car park, shopping at Gloucester Quays doesn't count. You're not allowed to cross the road. Although the name of the car park is Gloucester Quays Retail car park. Not shopping there anymore. Ocean parking consider Pay & Display for the premises.

Parked in the Stockport plaza car park…

Parked in the Stockport plaza car park got an alert that my house was literally on fire with my dog and cats in it so left my food that I had paid for and didn't even start eating to rush home. Explain this with all of the evidence that I could. They sent it to an independent adjudicator which was actually just a part of the same company. So the appeal time lapsed and they just said no absolute crooked

Parked at the peel centre Stockport for a 3O minute shop at marks and spencer I know I purchased a parking ticket because I received a £1 discount on my shopping. I have paid my £60 fine because I no longer have my parking ticket or food receipt to prove otherwise. I emailed the company asking if it was possible the payment machine was not working properly, even giving them the machine number I paid at .I received a standing reply Sir/Madam you have paid the matter is now closed. How can we know this isn’t happening to many people.
I don’t give this company any stars

Parked at the peel centre Gloucester

Parked at the peel centre Gloucester. Received a fine for shopping at the local Home Bargains shop. Reason for fine was not clear, no option to appeal after raising an enquiry as to what the fine actually was for. Apparently I left the site car park, where the boundaries are not marked. No evidence provided for proof of me leaving this car park. Just pictures sent of my car parked on site. Refusing to pay! Wont be back again, this is a car park not a prison. I'm now getting debt collector letters on my back. Contacted my local MP for help, as this is a disgrace, and am awaiting for court proceeding to fight the parking SCAM in court! Disgraceful!

Parasites

Parasites. Parked at the Gloucester Retail Park on St Ann’s Way to use the shops. Left the car park briefly and got a £100 fine. Well done. I will NEVER return. I’m sure the shops on the park really appreciate the cracking service you provide driving away their customers.

Ignorant Thieves at Gloucester Retail Car Park

These people can only be described as another form of scammer. They are supposed to look after carpark areas and train their staff accordingly to the area being looked after as to their T&C.
I parked at Gloucester Quays Retail Park before Christmas 23rd Dec, visiting Home Bargains, Next and later Burger King. However we also visited across the road and were watched by their 2 parking attendances standing together. They were still in the same spot when we came back. All this was done under the 2 hour parking period. They have taken 1 photo of my car with noting the time it was taken but no 2nd photo to say I was over the 2 hour period, So all parking was within their T&C.
But Ocean parking have still issued a parking fine. I gather this has happened to a lot of people visiting this car park in Gloucester.
Just to let you know, If this happens to you and you conformed to their T&C, I would suggest you take them to the small claims court and claim for all your time and any expenses if you wish to be represented.
This company is notorious for issuing these fines throughout the UK even when NO infringement has been committed.
