Great App & Great Customer Service

I have been using Office Time Sunshine Edition ever since version 1 , after having tried all kinds of time tracking & billing apps (Freshbooks, Zoho, etc.). None of them were a perfect fit, but Office Time pretty much ticks all the boxes for me. Everything was great, until an Apple update that merged reminders and calendars... suddenly, my time tracking was not synced to my calendar anymore... I wrote, got a quick answer, and the bug was more or less fixed. Then, a couple of Apple updates later, I realized that the calendar sync was still wonky... so I wrote customer service again. Again, they answered really quickly, were super helpful and proactive, and SOLVED the problem! Which was not directly related to the software, but rather to my settings.
The whole experience was really smooth, and I am preparing to upgrade to version 3 with 100% trust that whatever happens, somebody will be there to help me (but I do keep my fingers crossed 😉).

Great time-tracker and best tech support ever

I've used OfficeTime for years. I still prefer version 1, which is simpler though not as full-featured as version 2. It's still a great time-tracker, but earlier versions were also great for invoicing. I've found that v. 1.99 (4) – which may be the last update of v.1 – doesn't generate the invoice format I like and used for years, so I called OfficeTime support for help. John was my support contact. He was incredibly understanding and helpful. We probably spent two hours on the phone over several days. He offered to try formatting an invoice in the form I wanted, and sent me the result. Unfortunately, it still wasn't what I wanted, but John provided the best tech support I've ever had from a software company.

Best time-tracker for freelancers, as well as teams

I am a freelance writer and, although I don't have a team of employees/coworkers, this is absolutely the BEST time tracking software I've tried.

I can create an unlimited number of clients and projects, as well as categories. The categories are essential to me, as they allow me to assign different hourly rates to different clients and projects. Being able to color-code project is also helpful.

I love the fact that I can use it on my desktop and, when traveling, can summon it on my iPhone, iPad, and laptop. The Cloud syncing works very well. I also have the option to use it locally without any Cloud syncing, which is a terrific option in this world of cyber horror stories.

I've been using OfficeTime for more than 10 years now the owner was responsive anytime I experienced a bug, fixed it immediately, and works continuously to tweak to add and improve features.

I purchased the Sunshine subscription and it's a terrific value.

Been using OfficeTime and LOVE it!

I’ve been using OfficeTime for several years. I love it and use it all day every day to keep track of time spent on jobs for billing. The company is always improving the software making my job easier with every upgrade. I’ve tried other timekeepers and this one has the features I want without becoming cumbersome to use. The program is quick and intuitive, and affordable! The company is great, offering very responsive support – which I have almost never needed, because the program works so well.

Excellent app, excellent developer support

I am a freelance graphic designer and I have been using OfficeTime for many years to track my time on freelance projects. I have found the app easy to use (even though I have a very low threshold for technical hurdles) and I love the fact that if a client calls me to ask how much time I’ve put into any given project I can answer their question right then with the click of a button.

Recently I had to update my MacBook OS and I freaked out when I saw the app icon dimmed because it was not compatible with the new OS. I had no idea what to do. I emailed the developer who answered back very quickly with questions about what I had going on. Once I laid it out he gave me simple instructions on how to update the desktop app and everything is now back in order with very little intervention on my end. I simply followed the link he sent me in the email. My only criticism is that the website should do a better job of explaining what happens during an OS update and what you need to do to fix it. But since the developer was so responsive it wasn’t a big issue.

I cannot say enough positive things about how useful this desktop app is for me, a freelancer. I click to start the timer when I start to work, click to stop. If I get on a call and get pulled off task it asks me if I want to bill the time or subtract it because it knows I’m not on the computer. It keeps track of my invoice numbers and if I accidentally duplicate a number it alerts me. When it is time to send an invoice I can pull up the hours on that invoice and sort the time by the notes, which allows me to specify which hours are being billed to which project. In the “Report” function it allows me to mark the time as billed, then archive the invoice information. It allows you to set your minimum time and whether you want to round up or down.

It is easy to use and does everything a sole proprietor graphic designer like myself wants and needs. And it does all that without a monthly subscription fee!

If you have never used a time tracking app you should definitely give it a try, as it has been a much bigger help than I ever imagined. If you are on the fence about which one to buy I would encourage you to give OfficeTime a go. It is very easy to use and well supported by the developer.

Great product and customer service

I'm a lawyer and work as an independent contractor, so timekeeping is of the utmost importance. Don't know what I'd do without this product (yes I do, I'd lose money).
When I have a problem, which happens rarely, they provide excellent customer service. I'm moved to write a review because it's such a rare occurrence.

As a freelance book designer I have…

As a freelance book designer I have used OfficeTime since it's early days and I just bought it for my new Mac running Mojave. It is simple to use, comprehensive enough for my record-keeping and it can also generate invoices if you wish. It is just the "right" amount of help without being too invasive on my system like so many of them are right now. A program that is light but powerful. Just right!
Thank you!

I’ve used OfficeTime for years and it’s simply the best!

I’ve used OfficeTime for years after exhausting pretty much every timing app there is!
OfficeTime is an app that feels like it’s been written just for me! It has everything I’m looking for plus a lot more!
And the developer is a great guy always ready to provide a fix if there is a rare problem! Plus if you suggest a feature he listens and digests if it will be beneficial to all or not the one thing I’ve never felt is fobbed off!
Why can’t all software be this good?!

9 years and counting...

I have been using OfficeTime since 2009. It's worked very well for me as a freelancer who has multiple clients and charges both retainer and hourly rates; and I have recommended it often. I have never reviewed the program before, but a recent event made me realize just how much I depend on it.

I was in a hurry and rather than wait for OfficeTime to shut down properly, I forced it to close. The next time I launched the software, my computer asked ME where the file was. I am not tech-savvy...shouldn't my computer know where the file is? Why is it asking me?!

It's okay, I thought. OfficeTime allows for various backup options and I had it set for automatic backups. Surely I could just pull that up. Wrong. I couldn't find those either. Now, I'm starting to panic. Nine years worth of billings and invoices, not to mention current billable hours, seemed to have vanished. I sent OfficeTime an email.

Keep in mind that since I'd bought the software 9 years earlier, I'd had little reason to contact the company. Can you imagine going back to the store 9 years later to question why your blender has stopped running?

Stephen got back to me in 12 minutes. We went back and forth multiple times as he suggested different things to try. Nothing worked and by now I was nearly in tears, even calling data retrieval specialists all over town.

But Stephen never gave up on me. Despite the fact that I'd had the software for 9 years. Despite the fact that this wasn't an OfficeTime, issue (rather it was an issue with my computer.)

I sent screen shots, logs, and finally whole files and then, 24 hours later (big time difference between us), I got the email from Stephen saying he figured out what had happened, he could see my data even though I could not, and he walked me through how to bring it back up.

In summary, OfficeTime is an easy to use program that allows users to track time and activity for numerous clients, projects, etc. There are many options to personalize, including rounding time up or down in increments as low as 5 minutes. It allows you to multitask and track more than one client at a time. You can track expenses, choose from a menu of options for generating reports, make notes, create invoices, and sync with online calendars and mobile devices. A mobile app is available too.

All of these features have allowed me to focus on my work rather than my timekeeping (you simply click to start, and click to stop or pause.) But nothing, NOTHING, has meant more to me than knowing that OfficeTime is there when I need it--even 9 years later. THAT'S customer service.
