Do not use OpenTable! Book with the restaurant direct. OpenTable charge £20 per person, if you give less than 48 hours notice of a cancellation!

about La Petite Maison very bad experience
I would like to complain about la petite maison restaurant in London UK the lady ( her name is Fet) she was rude and the manager as well we had ordered all at the same time we got the food except one of the guests and they were Saudi Arabia royal family members we asked why didn’t we get that meal the managers answer answer was the kitchen closed!! The water glasses smelled bad they did not even bother to apologize for the missed dish we ordered and never got this will be the last time we reserve at this rude place
I booked a table for 2 for Saturday 6th…
I booked a table for 2 for Saturday 6th September 7pm at La Piccola restaurant in Heath Street Hampstead NW3 on opentable.co.uk. I made the booking 2 days ago. I received a confirmation on the website with an extra request for me to fill in my mobile phone number and email. Then they confirmed my booking for 6th September.
When I arrived at the restaurant this evening at 7pm, the manager had no record of my reservation and because they were almost full they repeatedly tried to persuade us to leave. We did not leave. They finally squeezed us in. But it was an unpleasant experience as I and the restaurant had clearly been massively let down. I will never to use opentable.co.uk again since I can't be doing with such inefficiency
Terrible service
Terrible service, I will refuse to use this app when ever I am faced with it, they took credit card details and then cancelled the reservation....
Continue to send spam emails!
Booked once through them but now constantly inundated with their emails!
Have clicked unsubscribe several times but they continue to send emails.
Abysmal trying to log on
Abysmal trying to log on. Sent a message to the restaurant and they claim they never got it. Avoid!
Awful software
Awful software. My local restaurant uses it and knows how bad it is. Your booking is lost every time you go to validate your card payment because the software deletes your reservation. Utterly fed up either it. Avoid this company like the plague
Hopeless customer support
Over time I've built up a number of points and so decided to exchange for Amazon vouchers. Which they issued in US Dollars, but I'm based in the UK so they're unusable. I've contacted customer support a few times over 10 days now, but got no reply which resolves this. All you get is "Hi, I'm Armando and I'm thrilled to help", only Armando is totally incompetent and offers no help whatsoever, but at least he's thrilled. I'll use them as an easy way to see if tables are free, then just phone and book direct. There aren't that many restaurants listed to be honest, so it's just one of a number of places I look.
predatory model that bankrupts businesses
We have capacity for 200 diners a day, Opentable give us 30 per month. They charge £2 per diner, £4 per diner through a campaign and £150 month.
Sadly, their performance is piss poor. We get so few diners through them that it has become annoying having to deal with adding them to our diary.
We get 30 diners per month through them.
Their crap performances means we are paying near £10 per diner. Accordingly, we don't make any useful profit on their referrals.
I'd assumed they would provide a competent service - however,it is a major waste of time.
They won't let us leave the contract, even though they are completely useless.
Their contract is 40page of smallprint, so no restaurant will ever win a dispute unless they waste time on a good lawyer.
The way the operate is predatory. If they were able to actually boost bookings then it might be worth paying for...
I've given feedback over 10x to them privately and now posting out of sheer frustration
Please take off the automatic name function
Please take off the pre-programmed name function when booking a table. It gives me the option to change but the booking always comes back to the automated name when I receive the confirmation email. This is frustrating when I support several execs and book restaurants regularly for each of them. I have to call the restaurant every time to change the name and can't forward the email to anyone in case of confusion
Open Table Charged Us 5% of Menu Cost
Open Table added 5% charge to the cost of a full prepayment required for a tasting menu reservation. We didn't realise this until the venue showed us the cost of the menu and explained the charge doesn't come to them. There may be some pathetic small print that covers this sneaky practice but this is a total rip-off.
Irritating repetitive ads and a bad app.
Irritating repetitive ads and a bad app.
Rather than invest in proper development to fight the plague of fake reviews within the app, they have decided to invest in incredibly annoying adverts. Pretty worthless business.
Not a serious company
Unfortunately I can't put zero stars!!!
Really not a serious company. Many of the restaurant reviews are completely fake. There are many restaurants that use people with fake accounts to boost their rating. Unlike Google and TripAdvisor they do not take into account the IP from which the review comes, so it is very easy to write fake reviews.
Bot-led, unaccountable, useless grasping company
Absolutely useless company.
I booked a table for three for lunch at Bocas in Clerkenwell. It was confirmed by the stupid OpenTable automatic emails which even asked me to confirm my booking again later the same day, and I did. Then HALF AN HOUR before my reservation, when I was already on my way, they sent an email telling me the restaurant had canceled (sic) my reservation. I turned up there and the place was closed, it clearly doesn't open for lunch
What is hateful about this is not only that they should never have taken the booking but having made that mistake they should not have said it was cancelled (particularly not with the gross US misspelling) but should have acknowledged that they made the mistake.
And of course there are no real people anywhere to talk to about this, just bots which only answer questions they determine, rather than the ones I wanted to ask. There's no customer service, just noreply email addresses.
Very annoying but helpful as I'll definitely swerve OpenTable from now on and make sure to bad mouth it to everyone I know!
This company said I was a no show
This company said I was a no show. Not true. The venue was uncontactable despite trying to call them endlessly. .
Best to avoid OpenTable
I NEVER book a restaurant using OpenTable. The service is totally unfriendly to the customer.
Remember it is the customer who chooses where to eat and who pays the bill.
There are many superb restaurants that do not use this rip-off service.

They were so slow in confirming my e mail that we lost the table time! Rubbish service
Don’t trust them
Don’t trust them, there are not the best ones, maybe the cheapest ones. Most of them don’t have fresh food and everything is pre cooked and regenerated.
Arrogant account manager & lack of customer service
Our experience with OpenTable has been frustrating due to a complete lack of customer service and poor communication. When our account manager changed, we were not informed, and despite reaching out via email, the new manager did not respond even after four days.
After multiple unaddressed concerns, we decided to cancel our contract. Customer service showed no interest in resolving the issues. Following our cancellation request, we were asked for feedback, which we provided in detail. However, after scheduling a call to discuss our concerns, no one followed up as promised.
This level of service is highly unprofessional and disappointing. Businesses deserve a platform that values communication, reliability, and customer support—unfortunately, our experience with OpenTable did not reflect that.
Very unpleasant to deal with. Better call the restaurant
Opentable offered me to make a reservation in a London restaurant for 9:30pm, after an event. I checked that the restaurant closed at that time(!), Opentable should never have offered this booking slot. The local staff were puzzled and wanted us to come earlier - or it would be too late. Of course, this was not possible, I said, we would not come 9:30pm or later. The show overran so we could not come. Next thing I hear is a HARSH reproach from Opentable for "non-show"! I took the time to explain what had happened. An unhelpful response from Opentable came, no admission of their mistake nor apology for causing inconvenience. No promise to correct their booking slots!
Avoid Opentable if you can, call the restaurant directly.
Really bad experience
Really bad experience - tried to modify a booking via OpenTable and had to create an account after entering lots of details it said I have to contact the restaurant to modify - what a waste of time and redundant app
