I settled my account with Opus Energy in June 2023 after spending ten uneventful years with them, then the problems began. Shortly after this i received a letter from a debt collection agency for the recovery of an unpaid debt to Opus, i thought i had paid the bill but then again i thought perhaps i had been absent minded and forgot, so i paid the amount asked for and moved on. Months later i received yet another demand from a debt collection agency for the same amount, i knew i had paid the bill (possibly twice) so i sorted through old bank statements and sure enough i had paid the bill initially, and again - so now i have paid twice for the same bill and yet again they are sending me demands to pay the same bill for a third time. I emailed them, no response, i called them, absolutely useless - they could not understand what had occurred and did not seem to grasp the concept of basic math. In the end they played the old 'send it to our finance department' trick from which i would receive a response in due course, i never did. What i did receive was more demands from debt collection agencies for this effing bill which i had paid in full back in June 2023. Eventually after countless unanswered emails & calls to their automaton center (they are actually human but you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in many cases) i finally managed to speak to somebody whom i shall refer to as Mr B. Who did seem to take an interest in what had gone wrong and decided to do some digging into my account. He acknowledged that i had paid the final bill in June 2023 and that should have been the end of the matter, and to be fair to him, he was as perplexed as i was that things had been allowed to get this far. I have never written a negative review for anything before but felt compelled because of the stress this company has put me through in periodically threatening me with legal/enforcement action over a bill which i had initially paid on time and in full. I'm hoping that the matter has now been resolved because i have paid them AGAIN, just to get them off my back. Will i receive yet another threatening letter from them for this thrice paid for bill at some point? - we shall see. Reply from Opus Energy

Hi,
I am really sorry to hear about these issues.
I will be in touch today about this matter.
Thanks,
Gavin - As of this edit and despite them promising to contact me they have still not been in touch to sort this issue out, next stop ombudsman.

I could not be more pleased with the help and service given to me today by Doris Gerard, when I telephoned your company.
She explained everything to me very clearly, and was very patient and kind in her approach to my queries.
She took as long as possible to make sure that my queries were properly dealt with and that I fully understood the position.
Thank you.

Over the last couple of years an alternate supplier had been charging. Howeverit turned out we were actually an Opus customer. A huge muddle and Opus customer service - the lovely Elaina walked and helped us through the process of recovering all monies and at that point we were able to settle the Opus bill. They were professional and helpful and always went that extra mile. Thank you Opus

Felt pressurised to sign up to a 2 year contract based on a cold call and repeated mention of unstable world economy and pricing likely to rise due to war.
Very clever psychological manipulation used to disturb me and clever tactics to close down any negotiation ie forget the standing charge, it’s cheaper than the tariff you are on. When asked about the tariff, distraction tactics used to divert conversation away from unit prices.
When complained, very unhelpful and denial.
Not satisfied at all.

Gavin, an energy relationship specialist, was the only person at Opus to make any sense and sort my problem out, all in a very timely manner. Everyone else I spoke to on the telephone or emailed just didn’t have a clue how to handle the customer and resolve the situation.
Thank you Gavin and three cheers to you.
