Was denied flight to Mexico because I presented a passport card and not a passport booklet. I cancelled my "return" flight from Mexico and my motels while in Mexico. Today I received my refund of $16.00. No more Orbitz.

Being a customer of Orbitz

Being a customer of Orbitz, expedia for the last 20 years but never had this problem before. I made a reservation car rental from this company "Economy Rent a Car" through orbitz. Waiting for shuttle, lobby for more than 2 hours, make 4 phone calls and then was told they ran out of car because orbitz overbook. Not only me, at least 5 other people around me had same problems. How many of customers have same problems, hope they all voice in public. Why didn't they let us know in advance, why I called them 4 times they told me wait for their shuttle. Its ridiculous. I missed my business meeting , had to find another car rental in the late night. I will file complaint with business bureau . Not sure why Orbitz doing business with such company. It is a BIG issue and NOT acceptable

Absolute fraud and scam

My flights from LAS to GOT got cancelled. It took 5 hours of chatting with support to find any kind of solution. Only thing they could do was to book me on a flight the next day, so I miss work. There were plenty of other bookable flights the same day but they refused to offer that.
They accidentally downgraded me from Premium to Economy. I have now been chatting with their support for 2 weeks, total of 11 hours trying to fix this. They take an incredible amount of time and each time it ends up with "we can't change this right now, get back to us in a few days".
They also demand that I call them instead. To call from Sweden to America it costs approximately 10sek or 1$ per minute. So if you don't have an American phone number you can not get any help.
The chat support is only there, so it looks good, in reality they can't change any booking over chat.
I did end up making a call from my Swedish number anyway in order to talk to a supervisor, she then assured me that since my phone bill is getting extremely high, they will solve my issue over chat instead. Once I starter the chat again, the support told me that it is impossible to do so and I absolutely have to call.
I had my American boyfriend call, he called multiple times, in total 4 hours, and nothing got resolved.
Now they want us to call again, so they can transfer us to a different team.
This is absolutely insane. I had originally booked correct tickets, but they messed up when they rebooked me.
At several occasions they were lying to us saying that there are no more Premium seats. This is of course super easy to check online, and we saw that there's multiple unoccupied and bookable Premium seat.
My boyfriend will have to call them again in the morning, but I'm on the verge of breaking down and crying.
These endless calls and chats are absolutely draining, they DO NOT want to help whatsoever.

I also get random e-mails about my flight to LAS being cancelled but when I ask about it, they simply say that it's a technical error????? So I get worrisome e-mails for no reason.

Lies Through Fine Print

Do not use Orbitz, they blatantly lied to me about my refund. I tried canceling a trip, but on several occasions making sure with the agent, “it was refundable, correct?” They assured me it was, then days later when I realized my money wasn’t back into my account, they used their shady fine print.

I had used them for years, but after the rudeness, lack of transparency, and communication, I will never use them again.

Tried to charge me a crazy “airline change fee” when I offered to put the airline agent on a three way call for the no cost (change or fare difference) ticket I had just purchased from Orbitz. I called their bluff and they said I was probably right but they couldn’t do anything. It’s a scam. Just book direct with the airline.

Dodgy Business Practices

I booked a flight through Orbitz and was charged twice the amount for what was originally displayed. I called and cancelled the flight and was only offered a travel credit. I selected the option to use my travel credit on the Orbitz app and booked a new flight. Once booked I noticed I was still charged on my card. I called Orbitz and they said they couldn't issue my credit without cancelling the flight which was $200 to cancel and rebook with my credit. This has all been very frustrating as I was under the impression that I had already used my flight credits. Highly recommend avoiding Orbitz!

Use GetYourGuide not Orbitz!

On May 31st. 2023 we booked a trip on Orbits. The tour provider didn’t show up the next day. I contacted Orbitz and they couldn’t reach the tour guide neither, so they promised me a refund. Three days later they emailed me a “sorry letter” that a refund wasn’t possible due to “strict policies”.
What kind of “strict policies” allow a tour provider to get paid and not show up? Isn’t this also know as a scam?

Rental Cars are a Scam

We booked a rental car through Orbitz but then couldn’t make contact with the company at our destination. We called and they finally answered after 10 tries and they said they had no record of our prepaid reservation! We had to rent a car from another company and couldn’t get our money back. Orbitz customer service said they couldn’t reach the rental company either so they could only refund the insurance of $77 ‘as a courtesy’. Total ripoff! Orbitz has our $300. Total scam site!

Avoid Chester Double Tree

Hotel information on use of pool for under 16s is not clear....yes Spa is for over 16s but tell me what child goes to a Spa?
Staff...albeit rude agreed to change booking from 2 nights to 1, but still charged for 2 nights
Room was right next to the wedding venue so disturbed til 1am with loud music, why not leave those rooms next to the wedding for guests attending or leave empty.....at very least warn those staying. Complained advising why hotel think is acceptable... told by Duty Manager Wendy 'it is, we are a hotel' What a ridiculous statement to make.

Orbitz stole $673.64 from me

Orbitz stole $673.64 from me. After 3+ hrs of a combination of completely inept customer service via chat and then a 90 minute phone call with a service rep, nobody was able to resolve a simple discrepancy in price between a credit I was due for a cancelled flight and applying that credit to a future booking.

The customer service rep I spoke to didn't even speak proper English and used phrases like the following:

"I already give you the fly you looking for and not pay any amount."

I shall see you in small claims court Orbitz.

DO NOT USE ORBITZ TO BOOK YOUR TRAVEL, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR TIME AND YOUR MONEY.

Used to love Orbitz, but no longer trust them

The only reason I gave them two stars instead of one is because we have had no problems with them in the past. However, the last couple dealings with them has resulted in them losing my business for good. I booked a flight through them and they didn’t let me know that the flight was canceled. My flight still showed on my account as if I was still going. The only reason I found out before showing up at the airport is because I went straight to the airline to upgrade my seats and was told by the airline that the flight had been canceled. Orbitz never let me know. Even after I called Orbitz and let them know the flight had been canceled. They still didn’t show it on my account. My account still said I had flights. After that, I had a friend who wanted to go on the trip with us and I wanted to add her to our hotel room. We already had a room with two double beds but instead of two people we were going to have three people. I probably didn’t even need to say anything to anybody but I told Orbitz and they charge me $143 extra to add a person to the room I had already booked. We weren’t upgrading rooms or anything, just adding a third person to a room that slept four. Shouldn’t cost $143 for that. Don’t know what’s going on with Orbitz but I no longer trust them and will not do business with them again. They didn’t care whatsoever that I almost missed the flight because they didn’t tell me the flights were canceled. In the hotel thing was just icing on the cake.

We booked a trip and upgraded our

We booked a trip and upgraded our flights to include seat choice, refundable and carry on. After we booked we went to the airline site to book our seats and we were told we had post extra and no carry on. Orbitz refused to assist us and the confirmation email they sent did not include these upgraded choices although we paid the extra fees.

Won’t EVER use Orbitz Frontier Airlines or Thrifty Car…

Won’t EVER use Orbitz, Frontier Airlines or Thrifty Car Rental Again! Nightmares! Booked trip to Phoenix for the first time for my niece’s graduation. Purchased a “package deal”. Was billed twice for airplane seats, an $250 “incidentals” deposit on a tiny hotel room (Sonesta Select - Downtown Tempe - Stay away from them too. Run down and shabby, paper thin walls, seedy looking guests and the pictures on their website ARE NOT what you get) but worst of all is THRIFTY. Booked a car through Orbitz, paid in advance. Got to the Airport was billed $200 deposit, $89 tax (Orbitz said $69 and never mentioned a deposit. When I called Orbitz after reaching my hotel room, they said I should have gone to the Thrifty website and read it. I WASN’ T BOOKING DIRECTLY WITH THRIFTY SO WHY WOULD I HAVE GONE TO THEIR WEBSITE?). When I booked the reservation, I chose an electric vehicle for $41.00 a day for 3 days. The lady checking me in kept saying she couldn’t figure out the code Orbitz sent, kept talking to the computer and hitting keyboard keys and canceling and reentering my reservation “to get it to go” she said. when I finally get the car it’s a tiny, GAS POWERED 2 year old Kia Forte! This morning, to my horror, I received a notification email stating that I’d been charged a total of $489!!! Tried calling their customer service but it’s automation would not let me speak to a human and when I tried to bypass it, the call was disconnected. Tried calling back to the airport Thrifty office but no one would answer. I’m sitting in Phoenix, all of my money gone except $136 and I don’t know what to do. What was suppose to be a joyous occasion has turned into a hurtful and disappointing experience.
P.S. I’ve learned that these 3rd party travel sites are not saving you money! Book your trips directly with the hotels, airlines and car rental companies directly or better still use a qualified, educated, trained and reputable travel agent!

UPDATE: May 1, 2023. Received notification from credit card company that THRIFTY billed $489.00 to my credit card for the car rental. This is in addition to what I'd already paid through ORBITZ. 4 days later and I am STILL waiting for a refund. THRIFTY does not have a customer service department you can call directly so you have to go to their website to make a complaint. Like I said earlier, AVOID if you can.

UPDATE 2: May 12, 2023 - Still no refund of excess fees. No response from Orbitz or Thrifty. Thrifty did send a receipt of my total charges where the billed me $303.19. Sonesta Select Hotels say they released the $250 incidentals deposit May 1. Called my bank today, nothing has been released and it could take up to May 31st before my deposit in returned.

They have so many manipulative games

They have so many manipulative games. They aren't accountable. Low-cost airlines disappear from your history so Orbitz won't be accountable for the mess they took your money for. AVOID!!!!

They also promote AirHelp and get a kickback. AirHelp routinely abuses customers by keeping their money for months at a time to collect interest on it - like a bank - and claim they are still waiting for a response from the airline. I caught them in the act. Orbitz told me it wasn't their problem.

The best thing to do is use Orbitz to search and then go to Expedia or the airlines directly and make the purchase. NEVER GIVE ORBITZ YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO!!!

Wow in a world with few good 'wows'

I typically use the online/app for bookings....but in rare instance I needed to call customer service for assistance. I had to make 2 calls to customer service, and I can say for certain....both Andy and Amber handled the calls with extreme kindness and professionalism. I know Orbitz is a big company...but the reps were so great, it felt like I was dealing with a small local company with personal touch. Not sure if anyone from Orbitz will even see this review...but I needed to share this.
