Look out for these guys

Look out for these guys! They take at least 25% in commission. And they only retail, they don’t make their own jewellery.

I wen in to buy a small Christian cross less than 4g of 14k gold, and the jewellery was moulded not forged. They wanted to re-sell it to me for 8100kr, because that sounded outrageous I contacted the gold smith directly and got a price for 6100kr for the same jewellery. It just tells me that their prices are hugely inflated and not remotely worth what they are selling them for.

Anyway just a heads ups.

Super good service at best price

Jeweller Palaeet in Lyngby gave us a super good service at the absolutely best price:
We needed an estimate of the value of our family’s jewelleries for the respective Danish household insurances.
Palaeet did so for a very good price, actually the best price we could get after a longer research and with an extremely friendly& good service and consulting. They put the whole data (pictures and estimates of values) into a secured database, where its is accessible for the police and insurance in case we should again (heaven prohibit) be subject to a burglary. In case of theft the items would be difficult to sell for thieves, because the pictures of the stolen items could/would be published.

This is particularly important, because Danish insurance companies - as opposed to household insurances in other European countries – do not accept pictures of your jewellery as sufficient documentation in case of theft. They need additionally either the purchase bills (which you often do not have after many years or in case it was a gift) or a value assessment by a jeweller. And such a value assessment can be awfully expensive …

Some background information for foreigners in DK: take precautions against burglars, like this here described value estimate of precious items! Denmark has the highest number of burglaries in all OECD countries (see crime_stats_oecdjan2012 in civitas. org . uk , page 8)
