My experience with this service was awful

My experience with this service was deeply disappointing.

I approached them as a father seeking support during an extremely difficult situation involving allegations and ongoing conflict with my ex-partner. My objective was straightforward: to establish safe, structured contact with my children, ensure their voices were heard, and allow an independent assessment of any perceived risk, something I am confident would demonstrate that I pose none.

Unfortunately, the service fell significantly short of expectations. Initial engagement was slow, with responses taking several weeks. Communication thereafter remained inconsistent, often taking a week or more between replies, which created unnecessary delays in what is already a time-sensitive and emotionally charged situation.

When I requested support to arrange contact with my children for a specific weekend, the process lacked coordination and consideration. Despite prior discussions around my availability, a meeting was arranged at a time I had clearly stated I could not attend due to work commitments. This was communicated to me via email, and when I responded promptly to explain the conflict and request a more suitable arrangement, including a longer period of contact, the service declined to support any flexibility.

Rather than working constructively towards a solution, contact arrangements were withdrawn, with the implication that I had cancelled, which does not reflect the reality of the situation. This approach felt dismissive and unhelpful, particularly given the context.

More broadly, I was left with the clear impression that the service was not operating in a balanced or impartial manner. In my experience, their actions went beyond a lack of balance and at times appeared to actively work against fathers, rather than supporting both parents in a fair and constructive way.

Equally concerning was the apparent absence of meaningful engagement with the children themselves. At no stage did I feel that their views were properly sought, understood, or represented, which undermines the purpose of any service claiming to act in the best interests of children.

Overall, I found the service to be unresponsive, poorly coordinated, and lacking in balanced, child-focused support. At no stage did I feel that there was a genuine effort to facilitate meaningful progress or prioritise the wellbeing of the children through effective engagement with both parents.

However they were quick to try and get paid, clearly prompting their profits over supporting parents, specifically fathers who they see as « not required. »

Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service.

Absolutely awful experience

Absolutely awful experience. Kam Kaur the PAP trainer had no intention of identifying any forms of abuse that were happening in front of her eyes during the sessions and instead turned a blind eye to it.
It would maybe be useful if she could partake in the freedom project with victims to get a proper understanding of how gaslighting and emotional abuse works.
I also provided clear evidence to her that I was being gaslit in sessions and she failed to recognise this.
She allowed sessions to continue when I was in distress and added fuel to the fire when writing her report for court.
Would highly NOT recommend this service. It was highly distressing.

Insightful and helpful

For the first time someone actually 'got' my situation. I experienced a balanced insightful and considered approach. Advice (not always easy to hear) was given to BOTH sides and the child firmly put first. Structure was provided. This is way beyond mediation or counselling but so much deeper and more constructive. I fear some of these negative reviews are from people who simply didn't like what they heard. PAP are not there to tell you what you want to hear but rather to help you (assuming you are open to being helped).

Bias and unprofessional… I can…

Bias and unprofessional… I can absolutely confirm the points made in the two below reviews. This is a money making business, nothing else.

They are not impartial. Contact at any cost (especially if you are the paying parent) should be their moto.

They have no understanding of coercive and controlling behaviour or any care about domestic abuse and the effect that has on children.

When you try to have an educated conversation with them they gaslight and bully and use undertone threats.

They cause additional trauma and do not care about the children involved.

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful. Don’t bother. My experience is very much similar to the below poster. Actually made things worse. Can’t believe it’s a professional service, they have no DV, special needs, childhood trauma training/experience, and this has been detrimental to our case, and family’s wellbeing. This is not support - it’s not working together, it is certainly biased - and it has caused harm. Further complaints are being made - but just wanting to make sure others are aware of what they are getting into before they start doing the course. I had high hopes, and was let down greatly. I am beyond disappointed, and would not recommend this to anyone trying to resolve an issue… as it’s definitely blaming, bias and belittling.

Biased and unprofessional

Engaged with the PAP in November 2021, to help with contact with child's parent. The experience was truly awful, we found them to be meddlesome, unprofessional, immensely biased against the paternal side and dangerously reckless - our opinion of course!
