Information provided by various external sources

Patients Know Best (PKB) is Europe’s largest personal health record platform, enabling patients and healthcare professionals to access real-time health information - anytime, anywhere. As the world’s first patient-controlled personal health records system, PKB facilitates borderless, integrated care wherever the patient needs it. That means any healthcare provider, whether in another area of the country or another part of the world, can immediately access all the information they need to support improved clinical decision making and the best patient care. Everything from test results, care plans, real-time monitoring data and discharge summaries, to the patient’s own data - either uploaded from their journal, wearable devices or using symptom tracking, are all available in one patient record. This also reduces the need for professionals to request background information from the patient’s regular healthcare team. In 2020, PKB became the first personal health record (PHR) to integrate with England’s national health platform - the NHS App. This extends the NHS App’s current features and sharing of GP data, to allow patients to access PKB’s full health and care record and functionality, direct from the national NHS interface. I was unable to open a letter from PKB…

I was unable to open a letter from PKB despite changing my password, so I emailed them the problem.
I received a prompt reply that my problem would be looked into.
Within a couple of days they had solved the issue. I am very satisfied with their service.

Dreadful website

Dreadful website.
Can't register, can't log on, can't select the hospital I had treatment at,can't access anything.
Password reset requested multiple times, no emails received.
Just go round and round in circles.
Very poor as waiting on results for cancer treatment.

Excellent PKB's Support team

Contacted PKB's Support regarding access issues, their agent Jo was quickly able to identify the issue, and provide a solution restoring full access to my health records.
Jo showed patience and understanding regarding the issue and demonstrated great knowledge of the system to be able to offer the support in a timely, polite and friendly manner.

Thank you Jo for your time!

If I could give zero stars I would do…

If I could give zero stars I would do so. I must avoid stress and getting a text telling me to access patient knows best but not allowing me to do so - how do I join, sign in, etc it won’t let me. Is really bad I have several different problems so which clinical team has sent me a letter. This company should be terminated and fined

Nonsense to provide unfiltered data to laymen.

This “Patients Know Best” lark is a nonsense. I have been sent a chart of complicated test data on me, which even with intelligence and good research skills I struggle to understand completely, and without medical training am likely to jump to incorrect conclusions.

A serious disease

A serious disease, stressed to the max that does not consider the patient’s mental health. The human condition is not supposed to communicate with apps, we are not supposed to live this way. How many years taken over a life span, downloading apps that are far too complex & actually don’t work? I have no idea the results of any medical reports because I cannot gain access! Great idea! How much has PKB cost that could have been spent on patient care?

Failed attempt to register was rescued

My first attempt to register my wife and I ended in failure as I had been trying to use a single email address for us both. I spent several hours trying to cancel and re-enter the system.
I decided to contact the PKB support team and the contact, Jo, was very helpful and sent a series of step by step instructions for each person. All fixed correctly
Excellent service.

Is it a scam?

Received an email from a random hospital from some distant part of the UK inviting me to register. The email claimed that this random hospital holds my data. It took 3 phone calls to establish that this is not a scam, but an email was sent to me in error. No respect for GDPR rules. This is concerning as they might hold some medical data.

Reply from Patients Know Best

Thank you for contacting the hospital and making sure this error is fixed Jo. Patients Know Best is not the party that made the error - Patients Know Best is the party that informed you that the error is happening.

Could you amend your review to reflect this please so other patients also know how to fix the errors they hear about.

Complete Shambles

Some time ago I got an invite to sign up and on paper this seemed a good idea. The reality is rather different.
The hospital trust had suggested I join and so I did. Initially there was the occasional update for me to look at but this was just a repeat of the letters I had received for appointments so duplication.
Having been refused a simple blood test by my GP, I suggested the practice look at Patientsknowbest. 'Never heard of it' both the receptionist and the doctor said.
Nothing much changed and every 6 months my test results were uploaded for me to look at. However, I was still getting a telephone appointment AND a letter telling me the same thing.
Checking the information today I find that 4 of the last 5 test results are missing. But no matter, I have letters with the results.
Since October last year I have had a number of other unrelated tests for a potentially serious condition. This has meant visits to two hospitals within the same trust, for x-rays, for bloods, to see a specialist and fitting recording equipment. There is NO RECORD OF ANY OF THIS TREATMENT.
So it seems most of the hospital trust and the GP either couldn't care less about this facility or have no idea it even exists despite the trust being signed up to it.
2026 is the digital age but I have to rely on a large, bulging paper file of documents containing all my medical history. Complete and utter shambles.

Reply from Patients Know Best

Dear Mr Wilson, it looks like you have completely understood Patients Know Best - a single place to get all your data, for your health.

Given that (1) the software works for over 6.5 million users and (2) lots or providers release lots of data for example 22 million test results every month… it reads from your review that the problem is with (3) the hospital that is not releasing data about you to you.

Could I ask that you move this review to the hospital that is at fault? It currently reads like the fault of Patients Know Best, and it isn’t. That way the hospital can know what mistake they are making and they can fix this for the next generation of patients, which I know is your intention.
