Negligent and greedy

I had been with Peer One for years, hosting a managed dedicated web server. Found out that my server was being attacked with a SYN flood. How did I find out? My credit was charged almost an additional $1000 for "bandwidth overage." And why? Peer One's monitoring was turned off? Why? No one could tell me. Most of my service requests were ignored (even those that weren't ignored took weeks to respond to) and additional overages continued to be charged. I moved my server as quickly as I could to another provider (within days), but Peer One said I had a 60-day cancellation notice requirement so they continued to charge me. No responsibility taken for their negligence and no recompense for the thousands it cost me due to it. Avoid like the plague!

Unethical company

One of my clients had domains and a web site hosted with Netbenefit prior to my involvement. When Netbenefit was split up and sold, part of it was taken over by Cogeco Peer1 and part of it by Speednames. My client was told that the web hosting would be taken over by Speednames, but Cogeco Peer 1 went ahead and set up a shared server for him calling it "Mission Critical Cloud services". Cogeco Peer 1 billed my client for it, even through he never used it. As a non-technical person, he didn't understand what a "Mission Critical Cloud service" was and assumed it was needed to run his web site with Speednames. When I took over his IT support I asked Cogeco Peer 1 to cancel his service and issue a refund. Cogeco Peer 1 gave me instructions how to cancel, and said they would "look into" the refund. I cancelled the service and eventually heard back from Cogeco Peer 1 that they would only refund one month because they couldn't find my client's records because I had cancelled his service, which they claimed also deleted all historical records! It is very hard to believe that cancelling a service also deletes all historical records. My client has paid for many months of service that he has never used and never requested, and Cogeco Peer 1 is hiding behind an unbelievable claim to avoid refunding my client. Obviously they are unethical and cannot be trusted.
