Portal Broken
It forces you to make an account or give an email to checkout as a guest. I already have an account, so can't use my email to checkout as a guest. But the Petco website's "sign in" portal takes you to the "create account" portal. When you put in your account info and it tells you that you have an existing account and to sign in, this other "sign in" prompt still takes you to the "create account" portal. It is impossible for me to order anything online.
Lousy incompetent service
So I'm out of town working I order some dog food for my bulldog I order two 5 lb tubes of vital dog food for $55 for the two what I get is to 1 lb tubes of cat food which they charge me $75 for.My brother doesn't notice it it's cat food so he feeds it to my bulldog now my bulldog's sick and I gotta fight with customer service just to get my money back. What would you do? Horrible place that obviously cares nothing about people's pets.
Unprofessional and dangerous
Several months ago, at the Burleson store, I witnessed a woman walking out of the store with a large bag of dog food in her cart. The Assistant Manager preceding to yell and cuss her as he follows her to her car. As she was getting in her front seat, he opened the back door of her car and removed the bag all while screaming and cussing at her. I had my 2 young children with me and was parked fairly close to the incident. For our safety, we left and will never return. He put so many people in danger that day.

write better. PETCO sells the product K9 Advantix produced by Elanco - a flea product. The product is so strong that it goes into the blod vanes and the dogs nerve system. Lets try to avoid these dangerous products from Elanco where the chemicals are not regualted they only want to sell. Buy apple cider and softly spray your dog twice a day. Works perfect and does not harm your pet. PLEASE spread the word to any pet owner.
Here’s a stronger, clearer, and more credible version of your message:
PETCO sells K9 Advantix, a flea treatment produced by Elanco. These types of chemical products are designed to affect a dog’s nervous system, which is why they are effective—but also why many pet owners are concerned about potential side effects.
If you’re uncomfortable using strong chemical treatments, consider exploring gentler, more natural alternatives. For example, diluted apple cider vinegar can be lightly sprayed on your dog’s coat as a preventative measure. Many pet owners find it helpful, and it’s a milder option.
Always do your own research and consult your veterinarian before choosing a flea treatment, so you can make the safest decision for your pet.
Please share this with other pet owners who may want to learn about different options.

that is way too soft. They do not want to cover my 500 usd vet bills and do not give a shit how it harms the dog. The text is for trustpilot.
Got it—this is for a Trustpilot review, so it should be strong, direct, and credible without sounding exaggerated or emotional in a way that could get flagged or dismissed.
Here’s a sharper, more impactful version:
WARNING
PETCO sells K9 Advantix by Elanco.
After using this product on my dog, I experienced serious side effects that resulted in a vet bill of over $500. Despite this, there has been no accountability or willingness to cover the costs.
These types of flea treatments work by affecting the dog’s nervous system. While they may be effective against fleas and ticks, they can also cause adverse reactions—and pet owners should be fully aware of that risk before using them.
In my experience, neither the retailer nor the manufacturer showed any concern for what happened or for the impact on my dog.
I strongly encourage other pet owners to think twice, do thorough research, and consider safer, less aggressive alternatives before using this type of product.

Ordered medication requiring a…
Ordered medication requiring a prescription. Mailed in the original prescription. Finally got an email stating they cancelled my order because my "vet clinic indicated you ordered the wrong product". No, I did not. The pink 2.5mg felimazole tablets that I've been ordering for years from Chewy is what I needed and that is precisely what I ordered. I spoke with the clinic who told me they didn't get any online pharmacy calls for any of our pets... which makes sense since we mailed in our prescription and a call wouldn't be necessary if the order matched the prescription. Perhaps it was because we took advantage of the autoship $20 off promotion and they wouldn't make much money on our order this time, or perhaps it's nothing more than incompetence or laziness. We will continue to use Chewy for our prescriptions since they are closer to home and seem to provide faster service.
Stay away from PETCO
I have had two bad experiences with PETCO and the 1st I thought maybe I was just overreacting but this recent incident lets me know that’s not the case. I dropped my dog off to be groomed and when I say they did a terrible job that’s an understatement. I just wanted him washed and fur cut down and as usual I showed pictures. When I picked him up he was completed shaved. My fur baby has been different since returning home. It has been a few days and I am still in complete disbelief at this haircut.
I wont be shopping here anymore
I have been going to the PETCO on Riverdale Road in Ogden UT. I am a two times per week shopper but will be so no longer. The customer service has been getting worse in the last 18 months. Today I went in and the cashier was rude. She was the only cashier on duty too even on a busy Sunday. The store seems to understaffed on a consistant basis. I will order my feeder insects on line or go to Petsmart from now on. It was a nice run while it lasted.
False advertising, terrible service
I ordered food for my ferret online at 8am because they had same day delivery and if ordered in the next half hour it would be delivered by noon. Which would be a lot faster than waiting for my husband to get it on his way home from work. When 3pm came around and my order still was not there I decided to call customer service which was a nightmare. The representative barely spoke English, put me on hold for 23 minutes, came back saying he would have someone deliver it as soon as a driver was available but definitely today. He could not answer any of my questions as to why it wasn't already delivered. It was never delivered that day and we are still waiting. Please do not trust Petco's delivery service or their customer service. Shop another store.
Please Be Aware when you shop at Petco…
Please Be Aware when you shop at Petco in Lebanon Tn They will definitely stereotype you and follow you around the store when you leave they will come outside and hide behind a Brick Platform And then falsely accuse you of Shoplifting And Calls the Cops That was the most embarrassing and humiliated ordeal what I was accused of taking was right where I said it was I had it put back in the right spot I don't think Corporate really cares no luck in them calling me back yet
Web site that repeatedly charged me for…
Web site that repeatedly charged me for a product I did not receive. Horrible customer service via email and phone.
Horrible job of fraud prevention and account removal
Someone used my email and credit card number to place an order with Petco online. I caught it immediately and contacted Petco to let them know that it was a scammer creating account and placing the order and to please not allow it to go through. Yet they approved the fraudulent order and mailed it out the next day. My credit card was canceled immediately so I was not out any money. But they authorize the account and the order, even though I did not confirm the new account by email. They violated their own policy that new accounts should be confirmed by email reply. And it has taken 10 different phone calls over two months to get them to remove all of my personal information. A series of different customer service people contacted me like we had never talked about the issue before. Each time you had to start over on why you wanted your account information removed. Yet it never seemed to get removed until last week. Even though I now have two new pets, I will never use Petco for anything.
Miserable idiots
Miserable idiots. They run you around in circles, do not listen and hang up on you! Then in my area they hire DoorDash to deliver and ribose lazy incompetent idiots leave my packages on the outside of the building parking lot view and then it’s stolen. Never has an order made it to my apartment front door! Last order, last time! Run!!!!
I called before booking an appointment…
I called before booking an appointment with them to get clarification on what the appointment would consist of. I called a the location in Raleigh, NC and I believe the guy that answered was named Pedro. He was very matter of fact and condescending when I asked to repeat for understanding. His words "Like I just told you". Excuse me? I politely told him if I could not get through the Q&A's, WHY would I bring my pet to this company for any type of service? I didn't wait for a response and I said thanks but no thanks and hung up. The customer service is horrible and I am sure they lose potential clients, if they is how calls are handled.
Can't be trusted
Petco.com DOES NOT prioritize the health of your pet. Ordered common prescription dog food for my dog with kidney disease, slated for delivery, didn't arrive when promised, date kept being pushed back, no notice from them, it just kept not arriving, and the only way I could find a new arrival date was by following tracking through multiple platforms. I am out of the food now, and the Petco site has said "Awaiting Carrier Pickup" for 5 days. They said, "We don't control the shipping". Why would I ever order from them again??
I had a really disappointing experience…
I had a really disappointing experience at Petco regarding grooming services for my dog, Teddy. This was the second time my appointment was canceled, and the way it was handled was completely unprofessional.
The first time, they canceled because the groomer was no longer there. That was frustrating but understandable, so I rescheduled. Then my second appointment was canceled again with no explanation, so I called the store to find out why.
When I spoke with the manager, her attitude was dismissive. She told me my appointment was canceled because my dog hadn’t been groomed there since August and that dogs with his type of hair can get matted. I explained that I groom Teddy at home and have my own grooming machine, so he is not matted at all. Instead of listening, she basically assumed my dog was neglected simply because I hadn’t used their grooming service recently.
It was very offensive to be judged and denied service without anyone even seeing my dog. Just because your system shows I haven’t visited since August does not mean my dog hasn’t been groomed. There are plenty of other groomers out there, and many owners maintain their dogs themselves.
After I questioned it, the manager reluctantly booked me again for Saturday but told me that if my dog had any matting I would be turned away. At that point, I felt completely uncomfortable bringing my dog there. Why would I pay $140 for a service when I’m already being treated poorly before even walking in the door?
Because of the manager’s attitude and the way this situation was handled, I decided to take my business elsewhere and found a private groomer instead. Petco lost a customer because of how disrespectfully this was handled.
Customer service and communication matter, especially when you’re dealing with people’s pets. This experience was extremely disappointing.
Denied services by corporate offices
The gooming services area said corporate offices had us denied for any services. They could do nothing. They did not have a manager on friday. Corporate had no idea why we were denied and no supervisors or managers available. We have had no issues before. WE WILL NOT EVER USE PETCO AGAIN! EVER!
Terrible customer service
If they allowed you to leave a zero star review I would. The people in the store, rude as heck, don't know anything when you ask them questions, give you an attitude and If you need to make an exchange, it's impossible. You are not allowed to make an exchange. They literally do nothing but steal your money. Pay $40.00 for an item then need to exchange it. You're not allowed to. It's insanity to me that any business at all behaves this way... Explains the reviews
