I heard about Peter Loy and his excellent reputation on a camera forum so was excited when I saw a rare camera I was after (a Nikon SP) in his extensive stock list. The camera arrived the following day and I was more than impressed by it's condition, the description was very fair and accurate and for once I'd bought a second hand camera that arrived spotlessly clean! I'd highly recommend Peter Loy and will use him again in future.

I'd say that if you are tempted by item on Peter's website to just go for it, from my experience it will have been described accurately, and in my case both times I've bought from him the item(s) have actually exceeded my expectations. Communication is excellent, shipping very fast and good value, the items for sale are good value as well, at least on a par with eBay but without the risk. This is because his knowledge of vintage cameras is positively encyclopaedic, and he may be utterly relied upon, both to identify any item, and to accurately describe the condition of his stock with unerring precision.

One of the things I love about Peter's approach to selling photographic equipment is that he does not list on eBay. Frequently-abused adjectives such as "minty"are conspicuously absent. He doesn't, and doesn't need to, talk his stock up—because he is Peter Loy. You know, when you purchase, that your item will be precisely as described when it arrives, and that buying it will be straightforward and free of fuss.

Peter makes it all seem so easy, I don't understand why other dealers can make buying a camera so hard.

Recently bought a 50mm Distagon lens from Peter and the whole experience exceeded my expectations.

Communication was excellent and fast, the price was very competitive, the condition of the lens was better than I'd expected, packing was exemplary and delivery very quick. To be honest, it's difficult to see how Peter's service could be improved.

This was my first purchase but a friend who's bought quite a few things from Peter said it's all par for the course.

This was my first time dealing with this long established company, and I don't think it will be the last. Prompt reply to a query, followed by swift delivery of the camera. Then in an age when so many people seem to be supremely optimistic when describing their goods, it was an absolute delight to find that the camera actually exceeded my expectations when it arrived.
