NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE

NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE! USE THESE GUYS AT YOUR OWN RISK. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE.

A few months ago, I took my Huawei phone to this shop for a simple battery replacement. It didn't even NEED it, but the phone was 6 years old, and where I live, I wouldn't be able to get the battery easily replaced, so I was being proactive. I asked the owner if I needed to back everything up, and he said no- it was a simple battery replacement. I should NEVER have trusted him- this is where my nightmare began.

It was supposed to take a few hours. Then he needed a few more hours. Then he was trying to bump it to the next day, but I was leaving and insisted I needed the phone back. He said it was going to take more time, so he gave me a brand new phone to get me through the next few days. I at first thought that was generous.

Turns out it wasn't generous at all. He was LYING to me the whole time. He had TOTALLED my phone. A PERFECTLY working phone had become a brick due to his incompetence. I've lost photos, voice notes, and written notes, most of which were irreplaceable, including from relatives that have passed.

This guy simply DID NOT CARE. He wouldn't give me his name or his email. He didn't apologize, he barely responded to my texts, and in short order he completely ghosted me. I've spent a LOT of money and time trying to recover the phone he destroyed, and he has taken ZERO responsibility for it. This man owes me a lot of money, but won't take responsibility.

DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN. HE WILL NOT HELP YOU IF HE DAMAGES YOUR DEVICE, AND HE WILL TAKE ZERO RESPONSIBILITY. I WOULDN'T TRUST THIS GUY TO FIX A TOASTER, AND HE IS NOT AN HONOURABLE MAN. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

FAULTY REPAIR - FAILURE TO HONOUR WARRANTY!

I paid £149 in Jan 2024 to get an iPhone 11 fixed. It had a cracked front screen and a cracked back screen, plus I had a new battery I had purchased that I wanted them to install.

The front screen was replaced and the battery was installed. For the cracked back cover, which is very expensive to replace, the repairmen said the cheapest solution was to use sticky contact vinyl film, which he put over the back and edges of the phone.

Some months later, while in the USA, the front screen separated from the phone. Upon closer inspection, I could see the holes at the bottom of the screen, where tiny screws are installed to hold the front screen in place, were covered by the vinyl film. When I peeled away the film I saw the two tiny screws had NOT BEEN INSTALLED! There were just empty holes! The genius repairman covered the screw holes and never reinstalled the screws. Hence the screen popped out.

Since I was in the States and needed my phone to work, I gently pushed the screen back down so it wouldn't fall out completely.

Upon returning to the UK, within the one-year warranty period, I brought the phone with a copy of my credit card statement showing the payment. The gentleman behind the counter (not the fellow who faultily "repaired" it months earlier) said it was his nephew who did the repair and he no longer works there. This man had purchased the company from the original founder, he told me. Sad, because I have been using Phone Heroes for years and never had an issue under the original ownership.

The man looked at the photos and the phone and told me that because I had pushed the screen back down into the phone, I had voided the one-year warranty! WTF? How about the fact that the screws had not been reinstalled to hold the screen down. NOT HIS PROBLEM! How's that for customer service? Disgusting. In my mind, this was just a cheap cop-out to avoid taking responsibility for shoddy workmanship. He offered to repair it for a reduced charge, but why would I trust a businessperson who had already shown me he wasn't willing to back up his shop's work?

A very, very poor experience. No matter the excuses and nonsense he told me, he simply failed to honour the one-year warranty one is supposed to get with a repair. CAVEAT EMPTOR! I will never go back to this place for a repair. I cannot trust them.

Real extremes of reviews here but…

Real extremes of reviews here but PhoneHeroes did a good job at replacing my MacBook screen. It's been 2 weeks since I picked it up and have no complaints so far. It's an old MacBook so Apple told me they couldn't replace it. Glad I tried and trusted PhoneHeroes with my laptop. I would use then again.

Decent and trustworthy

This is the second time I've been to Phone Heroes. I met Kamal the owner. He's a decent trustworthy guy. I wouldn't have my phone repaired anywhere else. Thank you for a great service

Parts swapped for inferior and new battery no good.

I had a negative experience at phone heroes after previously having a half decent experience.

It is a one man shop and the person I dealt with last time seemed competent.

However, I think that there has been a change in management as the person and shop has changed.

The person did not want me to wait despite there being a stool for that purpose, he told me to go away for 15 minutes.

Then when I came back the person was flustered, clearly the replacement of the battery had not gone well but it was not until I got home that I realised the extent of it.

It seems to me that he was trying to exchange parts from my iPhone with those of another, he did not want me watching him and asked me to leave, I declined but gave him some space by looking at the products.

While I was waiting a young lad came along and he sold them a vape, yes the shop is no longer a phone repair shop but now sells a load of Chinese branded vapes.

He eventually got my phone back together and I left.

The new battery does not last as long as the one I took in to have replaced. It says 100% battery health but YouTube videos show they can hack this.

The worst thing is that the phone will no longer charge using Apple original charger cables, I managed to find one 3rd party cable that works if you put it one way around.

So it seems to me that he swapped out my charger port or removed it and did not refit it properly. I have asked online and it is not necessary to remove charger port to replace battery.

The person who dealt with me was totally uncomfortable the whole time and it was obvious that he knew what he had done.

I guess the only option I have now is to issue money claim online for repair and consequential loss after getting phone repaired by someone else.

Such a shame as the previous chap seemed very competent.

Terrible cheap screens avoid

Terrible ! Don t waste your money.
This is one of the worst experiences i got. Chnaged the screen of my iphone a month ago and after few week the screen suddenly become black for no reason (no damage, did not drop it) . I was travelling abroad and found myself 4 days with no phone and had to change and pay again for the screen as teh one they installed for me was faulty and cheap quality (comfirmed by 3 experts). When back to london i went to ask for my right to refund as they sold and installed a faulty item they were dihonest and refused to refund me . Even the technicien was rude the day before. This is a scam do not waste your money here go change your screen at apple or more trusful place. Such a shame ! Scam avoid

Faulty repair with NO refund

Beware. When fixing a cracked Iphone screen, PhoneHeroes damaged the sensor which caused significant new problems. This was confirmed by the Apple store and their own diagnostics. Mistakes can happen but the store would not admit it was their fault and would not even give a refund for the faulty repair. Unfortunately not a business to be trusted.

Phone Heroes Earl's Court - nugget of a shop for laptop repairs

I found a great little nugget of a shop just at the entrance of Earl's Court train station (Warwick Road entrance/exit). The name of the shop is Phone Heroes. My MacBook pro needed a new battery and replacement of the speakers. I contacted the shop and a Mr Kam (nickname for Kamaldeep) handled my work order. I must say he is a very efficient and thorough professional. He installed a new battery, replaced the speakers and performed a general cleanup of the laptop which is now purring with pride. And the whole service was cost-effective too. They also do phone repairs and stock cell phone items. If you are looking for an easily accessible and efficient service for your MacBook laptop, Phone Heroes is the place to try.
