We are one of a growing number of customers at Pink Storage Swansea who have experienced theft and damage to our belongings, followed by a very disappointing response from the company.
When my partner attended our unit on 31 January to drop off items, she discovered that the rear of the unit had been cut open, the contents had been ransacked and turned upside down, and many items had been damaged and left exposed to the weather. The unit had effectively been left open.
We immediately tried to contact Pink Storage but discovered there was no way to contact anyone over the weekend. We had to call the police, who attended the site and confirmed that multiple units had been broken into.
Because the units had been left exposed, the police advised that forensics would likely not be able to recover usable evidence.
Over the following days we returned to try to salvage what we could. Many belongings were destroyed or damaged, including musical equipment, office equipment, personal possessions, jewellery, and family heirlooms accumulated over many years. Some electrical items were soaking wet after being left exposed.
What has been most upsetting is the lack of empathy and practical support. When we finally spoke to Pink Storage, the response was defensive rather than supportive, and there was no meaningful help offered to secure or remove our belongings.
Since sharing our experience, other customers from different Pink Storage sites have contacted us describing similar incidents and similar treatment, which is deeply concerning.
While dealing with the aftermath we also discovered serious concerns about the site’s security. The CCTV system did not appear to be operational, vehicle access barriers were not functioning, and yet the site advertises 24/7 monitoring.
When we raised concerns about the CCTV system, we were told that the police were responsible because they had seized the NVR unit. However, when we contacted the police directly, we were informed that the NVR had been seized in November as part of an unrelated investigation and that it had not been functioning at the time. This raises further concerns about why the system had not been repaired or replaced in the meantime, particularly given that the site continued to advertise 24/7 monitoring.
Pink Storage has also publicly claimed to be associated with the Self Storage Association (SSA) and has written about the importance of SSA membership and the standards it represents. However, when we contacted the SSA directly, we were informed that Pink Storage is not a member, which raises further concerns about the accuracy of the representations made to customers.
After the incident, new CCTV and security measures were installed very quickly, including the installation of new cameras and the presence of an on-site security guard. This raises serious questions about why adequate security measures were not in place beforehand.
We had also paid for protection cover as part of our storage agreement. Instead of a straightforward claims process, we are now being required to deal with solicitors simply to pursue payment under the cover we paid for.
This whole experience has been extremely distressing. We trusted Pink Storage with our belongings because the site was marketed as secure. Based on our experience, we would strongly advise others to carefully check how secure the site actually is and how incidents are handled before storing anything valuable there.
Quick and easy to arrange a storage container.
Reasonably priced.

Great storage prices, clean site and secure.
One star knocked off as the gate to the site was out of use for several days when I first took the container and the solution of just leaving the gate open made the site less secure and meant that I didn’t feel comfortable taking my possessions until it was fixed.
Gate code doesn’t work. Register of vehicles over a weekend doesn’t become active until Mondays which makes access very difficult.
Sat there for 15minutes waiting for someone to access of leave do the gate opens

Very good at getting you into a unit but then increase prices as time goes on.
Security is very poor as I have turned up half a dozen times withe the security gate wide open for anyone to come in.
I would not advise you use this company there are better ones out there with a flat rate. Lesson learned by me

Specifically the Newport, South Wales location.
Storage units were clean and tidy, no issues there. Price was also reasonable.
The gate to the Newport branch is broken. Entering the code does not open the gate. You have to manually push the gate open, but this is not made obvious unless someone else who has experienced the issue shows you.
No manned phone line on weekends means that if the gate breaks as it has done, then you’re left without access to your units. We were moving house and needed access urgently, but there was no one to contact to get access.

They give you an extra 2 weeks at half price if you leave a 5 star review then continue to put the price up.
They even charge you 20 pounds saying the payment was late.
It's the same day and was paid 30 min after the charge.
This company needs to be reported.
It's shocking.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

Good points, easy to set up although they shown as having 1 unit available but there were actually wasn’t any. Following a call they said there would be in a couple of days once cleaned and there was 2 days later.
Units are clean and the site is clean.
Bad points, no lighting and because all the units are full there are a lot of cars and vans on site which then involves a lot of moving cars around as the width of the units are smaller than a car. Space is also tight when navigating round the site.
That being said, if you are just looking to leave your stuff and not constantly visit it is perfect. The other customers are very nice and happy to move cars/vans.
Very straightforward process to book the unit everything took 5 minutes online.
Arrived at the storage location where the gates open automatically the unit was easy to find. Allround quick and easy process
