Positive

We’ve stayed at Piran Meadows for the past 2 years, and have always enjoyed our stay. We always book a lodge with a tub, which is regularly cleaned and checked by a member of staff. Bar staff and especially the pool staff are always so friendly! Swimming pool on site is okay, quite small but good water activities available to book. Bowling alleys never seem to be working when we come which isn’t great. The ‘nerf gun’ activity is a bit of a rip off, don’t waste your time or money my kids were quite disappointed. Evening entertainment isn’t anything special. Pretty good stay. We return mainly for the location which is ideal for us, but have always had a positive and comfortable time. X

DISGUSTING ODOUR AND DOG URINE SMELL 27 ST IVES CARAVAN

We stayed in 27 St Ives - checked in yesterday. As soon as we opened the door to the caravan there was a horrible odour. It was in the whole of the caravan even in all the bedrooms. We thought it might get better by airing it out so opened all the windows and went and brought an air freshener, but with the heating on a wet dog smell and dog urine odour started getting stronger and stronger.
We booked for 4 nights but we went home the next morning after staying just one night. It ruined our stay in Cornwall.
Receptionist did not apologise and said “we don’t know so you should have come to reception to report it”. This was a ridiculous response - any cleaner would have known there was an issue with odour in that caravan but they didn’t bother reporting it to advise it was not habitable! The receptionist did offer another caravan but having packed everything in the car and knowing more than likely that the other caravans would probably be of the same standard or dirty carpets and furniture we refused.
It was so disgusting and made me ill. The smell was so over powering it was like being in a dog kennel that had not been cleaned and sanitised.
We have stayed at this site many many times in the past and have always been happy loving the site location and facilities it offers, but the last couple of years cleanliness, odour issues, dirty carpets and soft furnishings have been prevalent and this is the final nail so we will not return.
I’m 100% certain that the management/owners of Piran Meadows are well aware of all the issues at this site including the odour issues, dog urine issues, dirty carpets and furniture/soft furnishings but as a business they do not care about offering quality holiday accommodation. I’d truly be embarrassed as an owner offering holiday accommodation like that and I’m sure they would not stay there themselves!
So in summary - a perfect location and facilities on site are good especially for children, but accommodation is very poor so book at your own risk!

Disappointing Stay – Serious Hygiene and Safety Issues Not Properly Addressed

We were really looking forward to our stay at Pirin Meadows, but unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations, especially considering we were travelling with a toddler and a dog.

Upon arrival, we were met with a significant ant infestation in the kitchen area. Ants were visibly running across cupboards, into cracks around the fridge and freezer, and even over cutlery and plates. Shockingly, we even found ants inside the kettle. This made the kitchen completely unfit for use and raised serious health and safety concerns for our family.

We reported the issue to reception immediately and were told someone would be sent to investigate. After returning from a local supermarket—where we had to purchase our own cleaning supplies—we were told no one had come to the lodge. When we followed up again, we were informed that the cleaners had gone home and we would have to manage it ourselves. This response was extremely disappointing and not what you expect from a place marketed as family-friendly.

Due to the unsanitary condition of the kitchen, we were forced to eat out instead of preparing meals at the lodge, which significantly cut into our holiday budget—something we had not planned for. The £40 bar tab offered as compensation didn’t come close to covering these unexpected expenses.

While the infestation was eventually treated, the ants returned just five days later, showing that the treatment was not effective.

In addition to the hygiene issues, the children’s play area was not monitored, and our toddler was forced out by older, rough-playing children, despite it being clearly marked as suitable for ages 5 and under. This made it unsafe and unusable for younger children.

We were also woken up by teenagers banging on caravans and running away late at night, adding to the disruption and giving the impression that the site is poorly supervised.

While the manager did respond, the overall experience was stressful, unhygienic, and disappointing. We had been planning to return to Cornwall next year and had considered rebooking at Pirin Meadows, but sadly, this experience has left us very doubtful. This site has real potential, but without better maintenance, supervision, and guest support, it simply does not meet the standards it promotes.

Bad experience would not book again

We turned up at the caravan and it was not clean there was empty food packages and a banana skin under the beds and not all bed were made up so we had to make some of the bed up. We also had to call maintenance as there was a strong smell of sewerage from the dishwasher and the patio doors didn’t open and close properly. During our way we then had to call maintenance 2 more times one to replace light bulbs and coffee table as it was wobbly and not safe to use second time was because the boiler kept cutting out and they had to change a pipe on it. When we raised our complaints to the park we felt they were brushed off and not taken seriously. Also we took our dogs and booked and pet friendly property there was no gated walk way that leads to the patio and blocks the front door so when we opened it we had to be careful to dogs didn’t just run out the door. It felt unprofessional to see bar staff and kitchen staff smoking on the outside patio at the bar where guest were sitting and tables not being cleared up.

Filthy

Been coming to this site for the last 5 years and every year they offer less. Started with a spa on site, spotlessly clean caravan and a welcome pack. After the first year the spa closed but we continued coming as the caravans were nice and clean. This year no welcome pack and the caravan was absolutely filthy. Our first year with a baby and they decide to put us in a pet caravan - when we raised this we were advised we should have asked not to be in a pet caravan. The fact we have no pets listed on our booking and a 7 month old baby would suggest we would not want to be in a pet caravan and we have never had this issue before or had to request this. The van was filthy- dog hair everywhere, kitchen blind thick with grime, fire extinguisher covered in thick dust, broom thick with dog hair and the caravan smelt like wet dog. When we went to discuss with reception, they offered nothing other than a cleaner which was pointless as we had already cleaned ourselves by this point. Reception advised the issue was with Hoseasons and not themselves which is a poor excuse. Why would people without pets want to spend a holiday sat in a smelly caravan covered in other peoples dog hair. Absolutely appalling. Really really poor and appalled by the state of the caravan and lack of customer service. I do not think we will be returning to this site.

Dirty caravans with obnoxious customer care

If you are wanting a relaxing break with great customer service with clean caravans then piran meadows is NOT for you.

I have just left after 1 night. The caravan was tired and needed a refurb. I could have lived with that be not the crusty food round the cooker……… The standard of the cleanliness of the caravan was poor. The bedroom carpets smelt of wet dogs.

But worse is to come…. The carpet between the en-suite and master was frayed and not under the bar. this lead me to get my toe caught under and fall… Luckily the bed saved me but I dread to think what would have happened if it hadn’t or I was older.

After a poor night sleep I want to reception. They said the first step was the rectify the problems. This I give them credit for. The maintenance and cleaner was great and that what the one star is for… it would have been no stars if it wasn’t for them.

There was no concern about my fall apart from an incident form. We will be taking this further as I’ve woken today and feel like I’ve been hit by a bus…only thing I can put this down to is the fall. The piran meadows team were very much victim blaming. It was my fault for not reporting the incident in the middle of the night. Solo female traveller so didn’t really want a strange person in my caravan at 2am.

As you can imagine I was miserable and didn’t want to stay in the blow standard caravan. They WOULDN’T move me as they didn’t have a same level caravan and I would have to pay to go in an upgraded one.

They said this was up to hoseason which after speaking to hoseason ( who were very helpful) this wasn’t true.

The attitude of the customer service was disgusting. It felt very much like I had to like it or lump it.

This site used to be amazing but OH MY GOD it gone down hill… Don’t believe me read more of the recent reviews.

Outstanding 10/10 I would highly…

Outstanding 10/10 I would highly recommend the staff are fantastic and during our stay we had car issues and the team here made our stay everything and more. They offered us help from the moment we walked through the doors thank you Ralph, Amy and Gav.
I wouldn’t hesitant to come again, great site very quiet relaxing. Having stayed in many UK sites, for me Piran Meadows deserves to be up there with one of the best, you can’t buy customer service and high standards anymore, the staff here need to be recognised highly for going above and beyond.

Great food we had a beautiful meal we enjoyed in our caravan very fresh and lots too even enjoy the next day and facilities were just what we wanted to entertain our little boy. We stayed in a hot tub caravan which was very luxurious. We look forward to come again as soon as we can

Wow what a fantastic holiday we have…

Wow what a fantastic holiday we have just had Piran Meadows Resort is amazing the staff each and every one of them are a credit to Darwin Escapes, never have we stayed anywhere and found every member of staff prepared to go that extra mile to ensure guest satisfaction.

We stayed in two Wadebridge 2 caravans (one for our son and 2 kids and one for my wife and I) which felt and look far more like lodges than static caravans the attention to detail was first class they even had two bathrooms which we did not expect, We spent weeks back in march researching holidays and would like to personally thank Amy Francis from your reception team not just for answering the many questions we had before and after booking but also for looking after us so well during our stay she even made our wedding anniversary meal super special when we dined that night with the family in the on site bistro.

Our grand children loved the sites facility’s especially the swimming pool and outdoor splash area have to say we did also . in short for a luxury chilled stay in a spotlessly clean accommodation with amazing staff look no further than Piran Meadows Resort you will not be disappointed.

I would like to say a very big thank you to Amy and all of the staff for making our short holiday one to remember can’t wait to return only suggestion I would like to make to Darwin Escapes would be to start a loyally scheme for repeat guests as many other companies do via Hoseasons I am sure this would increases repeat guests no end.

Quite disappointed

Quite disappointed. Loud music from the lodge next door from 10.30pm onwards at night which nothing was ever done about despite complaining. All of the bar and eating facilities closed for half of the week whilst we were there. I understand fully the post Covid issues around getting staff back up to the correct levels but had we been told the facilities would be closed beforehand we wouldn’t have booked.

The Get away we needed!

We have never stayed self catering before in the UK and didn't really know what to expect. I emailed ahead a few times to ask about what is provided on site. When we turned up we could not believe the standard of the lodge and the site. There was everything provided and all with robust but practical COVID measures in place. The lodge (108) was spotless, very spacious with views to die for, During our stay the staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The pool was beautiful and the out door bistro was lovely.
We enjoyed it so much we asked to see other accommodation options whilst there and have now booked 2 more stays. One back here and the other in Isle of Wight.
I would highly recommend this park as a staycation option to families or couples alike.

They conned me with my booking

I have made a booking around 15 July for 28 August for 7 nights to stay there for a week and after two weeks now they are refusing to accept my booking because they managed to get more money elsewhere. I think should be illegal and con and quite disgraceful given my children have looking forward to staying there for weeks now.

Lovely place to stay!

We had 4 night stay in number 27 with our 10 month old baby. Staff were fabulous but most of all Lydia, a real asset to the company. Pool was lovely and warm, our baby loved it in the main pool rather than the shallow pool. Facilities around the site were really good, just a shame no kids club/evening entertainment but pleasantly surprised by the soft play! The tea and coffee provided for the first night was a lovely thought. We would definitely visit again!

Do not visit!!

Extremely unhappy with my booking.

After going away for a girls weekend to Piran meadow resort and spa and thoughtfully enjoyed ourselves. We stayed in a hot tub lodge. Mainly for the novelty of having the hot in.

We then decided to revisit the follow week after and take our partners. Again, for the novelty of the hot tub. After driving all the way, stopping in to the local Morrison’s, stocking up on food, taking time off work etc.

We booked in, rushing down to our room at 9pm after a long day at work, then travelling and rushing down, we opened the lodge door, ran to the balcony to be disappointed there was no hot tub.

Then after speaking to the only available person over night, a bar staff member, said he would speak to someone the following morning. Bearing in mind we are loosing one night then already. We debated going home again that night, seeing if we could then get a refund. However he assured us that there were hot tub lodges available so we waited for the following morning.

He advised worst case senareo, we would have to pay extra for a hot tub.

We thought we would stay as what’s the potential price by 6 people.

The following morning, nothing was resolved. The receptionist was very friendly and tried to assist, however it made no difference to upset or our holiday.

So basically, paying to go away, loosing money for time off work etc.

Just to get a bed, kitchen and living room... all that you can get at home.

Wouldn’t exactly say I came for the sites as all you can see is endless lodges sat in lines.

I would highly recommend they employ more staff to be on night call.

Couldn't wish for better

Stayed in number 26 for a week from 4th November 2018. It was fabulous. We've been to many caravan parks over the years but this pretty much beats them all in terms of accommodation, and luxury. The owners had gone to great lengths to ensure that we had everything that we could possibly need. It's a real credit to them. The leisure facilities are great and the staff are thoughtful and very helpful. We had grim weather so the pool, sauna and steam room were great. The one thing that I wish I had with me was a cable that would have connected my phone to the huge TV so that we could have streamed programmes or films via the WIFI in the caravan. If you can, I would recommend taking one of those.

To the owners of the caravan and staff at the site, thanks for a fantastic holiday, we enjoyed every minute of it.

Absolute joke

Absolute joke, arrived after 6 hrs to get our holiday home "no.78", We entered and it absolutely stunk of Curry, We went straight to the desk and they said they couldnt move us but they will get the cleaner to come, Cleaner came and said "we knew we would get called for this as we tried to get the smell out but couldn't, their was a family of east europeans in here and stunk the place out", she give us a spray but didnt work at all, later that evening a guy came and knocked.. he nearly dropped to the floor when he entered and said he will get us a diffuser but never, Also said the cleaners will come in tomorrow whilst we are out so not spoiling our holiday waiting in and clean all the curtains/nets etc, when we got back that day they had just left a door hanger saying they came around and would we go to the reception to arrange another time ???, so we did and... it was closed, we left a review on the piran meadows site and the person who replied to it said and i quote "when the man came to see you that evening you was eating a curry", that is a huge lie as we ate out that night at the brewers fayre 2 miles away located next to Mcdonalds with a receipt to prove, The only thing we ate in the Caravan was Breakfast cereal.
Could not believe how unprofessional they are too lie, Luckily enough my phone has an app that records calls as i am hard of hearing so i can play them back and we have proof they lied, also other than the disgusting smelly caravan we had "78" the place is beautiful although there is hardly anything for children to do.. no shop either and the pool is way too small for the amount of people staying there, it also says its in Newquay but newquay town is around 6 miles away so you need a car or you are stuck, No doubt the holiday park will reply and say something to try and call us a liar, we do not want any refunds etc so we have no reason to, my number is 07494004590 if you need to know anything about this place, The dark haired lady on the desk is nice but the blonde lady has a real bad attitude and her customer skills are a joke.

Just one problem, but was sorted quickly and with no fuss.

I went on holiday for a week here. It was wonderful. When we booked it, we hardly knew anything about it, as the holiday park was 3 weeks old as of when we got there. And it was better than we ever could have hoped!
The only problem we had was someone had obviously cleaned the bin out ready for the next people, and forgot to take the bag with them. And left it out side the door. Some seagulls had ripped it open and there were dirty nappies everywhere.
We told a girl be hind the bar, and she sorted it by the time we got back from our meal, even though it wasn't her job!
The holiday home was clean and tidy, everyone is very very freindly. :) Especially the guy that comes round to check the hot tubs, and one of the waiters at the restaurant.
Speaking of the restaurant, the food is also wonderful. And for great prices too!!! We're already enquiring coming back next year! Would recommend this place to anyone. Definitely.
