I booked the plough and harrow in Deal …

I booked the plough and harrow in Deal Kent. It was closed when we arrived, We had to book a second site through pitch up.
The ste said they would refund then changed their mind. Pitch up wouldnt refund the booking fee so they got 2 booking fees grom one valid booking, will never used iether again.

As mentioned, your Pitchup deposit has already been refunded following your rebooking at another campsite. The remaining balance was paid directly to the campsite, and any additional refund is subject to their own cancellation policy.

Really friendly welcome

Really friendly welcome, shown my pitch in person (so many places just send you off to find it alone).
Helped me with directions and advice on parking at the venue I was going to later.
Site nice and quiet and I felt safe which as a lone female is very important.
It’s near a motorway and you can hear it but it’s just like white noise which actually helps me sleep!

Brilliant

Used pitch up for booking, Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park
Betws Garmon, Caernarfon, Gwynedd, Wales, LL54 7YY

From the moment I arrived was made to feel most welcome, staff were amazing in explaining where to go, what there was to do locally and generally extremely helpful with any questions had
The park was very tidy and layout was spot on, everything you needed was on hand. washing facilities, drying room and showers/toilets were all clean and tidy, kept and maintained well.
Would 100% come back here, ideally located to do Snowdon summit with a few paths only a few minutes drive away.
Pitches were a very good size, I choose the elec hock up with water and drainage, perfect for what i needed.
Yes I did come through the quiet season so not very busy, but busy enough as plenty of people were coming and going.
Cant wait to book again, as for me this was the perfect spot for when visiting the area.

Excellent site

Excellent site. Very generous pitch sites with good spacing between pitches. I would highly recommend the woodland pitches. Very friendly greeting on arrival. This is a basic site though. Maybe not your thing if you want hot showers every day.

Book with campsites NOT through pitchup!

Booked a campsite via pitch up, and it was double booked meaning our booking got cancelled. I’ve been going back and fore with a huge email chain trying to chase my refund (that I’m entitled to!). The campsite owner is stating she doesn’t ‘know’ how to resolve this or give a refund, and pitchup have done nothing to try and get this sorted for us, reimburse us, or assist in chasing the payment. Book directly through campsites to save yourself from this issue!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this situation has caused. A double-booking and the resulting refund issues are absolutely not the smooth, straightforward booking experience we strive for.

As soon as we were informed of the issue, we contacted the campsite and explained the refund requirements under our Terms & Conditions. Throughout the process, we repeatedly guided them on how to issue the refund correctly, contacting them 11 times with detailed instructions, including clarifying where the payment was made, what actions were needed in their payment account, and how to resolve the insufficient balance preventing the refund from going through.

We also advised them on two separate occasions that, if the refund was not completed, a bank dispute may be raised. During this time, we kept you updated on the options available to help you receive your funds as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, while we can provide direction and support, payment is made directly with the campsite; they therefore control the payment account, and the refund cannot be completed until they take the required action. We fully understand how frustrating this is, especially given the amount of time you’ve spent following up. As a result, the campsite have now been removed from accepting further bookings on Pitchup.
We have continued to press the campsite for resolution, and we’re very sorry that your experience hasn’t reflected the standard we aim for.

Don’t bother!

My brother has been fighting a refund that he is entitled to as they cancelled, not us. Very disappointing that a big company like pitch up aren’t willing to give money back to customers who struggle to pay for holidays as it is. I will never be booking through this website again, as it appears it’s easier and cheaper to do so through the campsites themselves. They have benefitted greatly from this and it’s honestly shocking to me that they are keeping someone’s money without needing to.

We want to assure you that we weren’t passive in this process; we contacted the campsite on 11 occasions, with full details of the refund due, including clear instructions on how to process it. We also advised twice that a bank dispute may be raised if they failed to act.

Despite all efforts, the site still has not completed the refund, and as a result, they have now been removed from accepting further bookings through Pitchup.
To clarify, the payment for your booking was sent directly to the campsite. Our terms state they are responsible for issuing refunds, but we do everything possible to support our customers when issues arise, and we understand your disappointment. We have strongly urged the campsite to resolve this, as they are the holder of the funds.

Regarding your comment about booking direct being easier and cheaper, Pitchup is designed to provide a simpler, transparent way to find and book campsites, at no extra cost. All campsites agree to our pricing parity rule, meaning bookings via Pitchup must be the same price or cheaper than booking direct.
In most cases, this offers the convenience and reassurance customers are seeking, and we are genuinely sorry that your experience did not reflect that.

Refund

They attempted to recover a refund for our booking that was cancelled. Classic for a company who act as the middle-person, owner of campsite against pitchup. They don't seem to care for their customers and as such I will not be booking with pitchup again. I will caveat that it's listed out in their T&C's are that they are not liable but that shouldn't mean little attempt at recovering the funds we were due. Don't really understand why they exist just book through the campsite it's easier, more guarantee and more often than not cheaper. Profit isn't inevitable unless you protect your customers eventually they will part, enjoy millions of profits for now!

Worst Camping Experience

I booked a campsite through Pitchup “Hideaway in the Hills” llanbedre. The worst campsite ever. I booked a pod which was dirty and damp, clearly had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. The toilet block was dirty and broken parts which made it, in my opinion a health hazard. The owner was unwelcoming. We sent photographic evidence to Pitchup but unfortunately they could not help with this area of complaint, although they did contact the owner for other issues. We had to leave as we felt it was not fit for purpose.

When you make a booking on Pitchup, you are booking directly with the campsite, and its day-to-day operations and on-site facilities are managed by the site itself. Pitchup is unable to intervene in on-site experiences such as cleanliness, maintenance, or staff conduct, unless advertised facilities are not available.
We hope you can understand our position, as we were not on site when these Issues happened, so in the majority of cases, these are resolved between the guest and the campsite directly. We're sorry this wasn't the case.

We raised your concerns with the campsite and contacted the site to request that, when walking information or trail leaflets advertised on their listing are unavailable, guests are kept informed in advance by email or text to help ensure this part of the experience is clearer for future visitors.

Really lovely campsite

Really lovely campsite. Tracey was really informative and helpful when we arrived. Great pitch, weather was awful when we arrived so she found us the best shaded spot. Very clean utilities. Great little games room to pass the time when it’s raining. We didn’t bring our dogs but lovely dog walking fenced area. Generally well kept area. Lovely local pub about 15 minutes walk away for dinner was a great recommendation from the owners. We’ll be back!
