Plan My Gap Year (PMGY) Reviews 

I had a great time volunteering in Sri Lanka with PMGY. I loved working with the sea turtles and learning more about the species, the sanctuary staff were super friendly and helpful. Along with the staff in London house, they were always available to answer any questions and were very supportive. It was also nice how they would offer activities and run trips like the elephant safari.

Really good program to make friends and make some goods in the world!

I volunteered with PMGY for 3 weeks and did the medical program. These past three weeks have been incredible and I have left with far more than I expected. Throughout my days on placement, I experienced the realities of caring for people with low resources and saw so many different cultural aspects. Outside of placement I had an amazing time with staff members, volunteers and took part in weekend trips + after placement activities. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming, I’m ever so grateful for all the love and support provided!!

Amazing experience!! I met so many people over the three weeks I was in Tanzania and made so many amazing memories. All the PMGY staff at Tanzania were so friendly and welcoming. Only thing I’d change is going for longer.

The PMGY team both before and when we landed were fantastic! So welcoming and supportive and always found an answer to our questions. 3 weeks was the perfect amount of time. The culture was amazing and extra activity’s were fun and exciting although sometimes a little expensive. The placement programs were interesting and it was an eye opening experience but it would have been nice to a rotation and see how other hospitals worked as well. The accommodation was great and the staff tried to resolve any issues, the food was also good although got a bit repetitive at times.
A fantastic trip with so many memories that I will cherish forever. I am forever grateful to have had this opportunity and I am excited to do something similar in the future.

I had the best experience through Plan My Gap Year in Kefalonia this summer. It’s something i would urge anyone to do, to bring yourself out of your comfort zone, try something new and absorb yourself into an experience of a life time. I feel very fortunate to have met the most amazing bunch of people on this trip and formed friendships that will last a lifetime. Being able to be hands on with the turtles and have full independence was such a privilege and getting to witness the start of a new hatchlings life is something i won’t forget. Plan My Gap Year made this whole experience so easy and straight forward for me, which was so important since it was my first time solo traveling. I will definitely do something like this again!

Tanzania volunteering!!
I went to Tanzania for 2 weeks to do teaching with young children through Pmgy and it was amazing! I absolutely loved the opportunities of weekend trips, including a safari which you must do! The coordinators and mamas truly make you feel welcome and always provide things when needed. I would highly recommend to anyone and would definitely do it again!

The trip was amazing, full of different experiences. The schools are welcoming and encouraging towards you and the children are always so happy and excited to see you and learn. The weekend trips are definitely something you should do including the safari and Zanzibar, you get to see amazing animals and explore new places

This trip has been the most impactful trip I had so far!
I lived alone with the monks in 2 seperate monasteries (in Daunne and Pokhara).
Pokhara was a beautiful city with so much to do but by being mostly, I didn't always have the energy to do everything so I recommend this monastery to the people who want to come here with friends.
In Daunne it was a completely different story. Although I was the only volunteer there, through the connections I immediately built with the monks and the teachers I didn't once have this feeling of being alone. I made so many good friends, some of them for life, and loved every bit of it.
In general that was my favourite part... I had some really great experiences I know that, but when I'm going to remeber this trip in the future it will surely be for the people I met all across this country, be it the monks, Assim's family, teachers or others friends I made there.

I went to Bali for 6 weeks for the summer, and my project was English teaching, by far the best experience of my life. The accommodation was great, and so was the food. We taught for a couple of hours a day from Monday to Thursday and had so much time to explore the beautiful island. If you are nervous about teaching, they have staff there who will help you lesson plan as well as give advice. The environment is amazing, and everyone is so friendly, and I met some of my lifelong friends there. There is so much support from all the PMGY Bali staff if you need help, are sick, want to know where to travel, or just need someone to talk to. Best experience ever!

The host, Vishy, was very friendly and made the whole stay feel as if we had never left home at all. Coming to a new country is daunting but the way you are immediately thrown into action means that you quickly build bonds with your fellow volunteers and together you can all explore the new and amazing places in India! With the option of doing both childcare/teaching and medical, it means that each day is different and exciting, there is always an opportunity to discover something new with PMGY. The staff provide freshly cooked, authentic foods each day and there are plenty of snacks and refreshments available throughout the day. The volunteer house is situated beside the school, which allows for a warm welcome from the children each morning. Despite being located outside of the main centre, the onsite transport makes everything easily accessible and a short train ride can take you to the other side of Delhi. Vishy is very helpful for organising trips over the weekend, and I would highly recommend travelling with your fellow volunteers as it adds so much to the experience. Overall my journey with PMGY has been unforgettable and definitely won’t be my last time!

Meeting new people and helping kids while traveling and exploring Peru was an amazing experience. I made so many new friends and went on a lot of adventures.

My time with PMGY was overall amazing !! A huge shoutout goes to the local team in Sri Lanka, who were incredibly warm, welcoming, and supportive throughout the whole program. I joined the medical program and found it to be a really interesting insight into the healthcare system and clinical practice in Sri Lanka.

The team organized many activities and trips, which made the experience much more than just a placement. There was always something to do, and it was a great way to explore the country and meet other volunteers. What I appreciated most was how approachable everyone was — they always had an open ear, were happy to help with any questions, and genuinely cared that we had a good experience.

Overall, I would definitely recommend PMGY to anyone looking for a meaningful and well-organized volunteering experience in Sri Lanka.

I took part in wildlife conservation and English teaching projects in Bali. Although both projects were completely different support of local staff was constant. Also during weekend trips with PMGY they cared for us and made sure everything was safe. If we had any problems we could go to the office or local coordinators at any time of day. Rooms were cleaned weekly but I’ve seen quite a lot of dust under the bed which obviously a bit harder to clean but I would recommend doing it more frequently. Otherwise everything was spotless before arriving. When the sink broke it was repaired instantly the same day. For any future volunteers please respect the staff and don’t make them do things that you can obviously do yourself such as throwing away paper bags after your take out (that’s not their job). As long as you approach the experience with open mind you won’t be disappointed.

I volunteered at an animal sanctuary in Peru and met some wonderful people and had a fantastic experience. Everything was organised very well in a way to make young travellers feel supported and safe whilst exploring the country.

The whole trip was absolutely amazing, the staff were the kindest people I have ever come across and always happy to help. Over the 2 weeks amazing sight visits were planned and overall a great experience.

My experience with PMGY doing the Real Sri Lanka Experience was the best of my life. Going into it, I didn’t really know what to expect and thought it was maybe a bit too good to be true for the price. But right from the second I booked, I was amazed at how well organised everything was, staff are so willing to help at every step of the way so you are never on your own. From the moment I landed, I was immediately given a warm welcome by staff and this support was given throughout the trip. The staff were honestly so lovely and made the trip, and they also made me feel super safe! For what I paid, it was absolutely incredible value for money. We stayed in amazing hotels whilst travelling, had once in a lifetime experiences, had all our meals, and so much more. Thank you for the time of my life, I would truly recommend this to anyone.

I travelled to Sri Lanka as a 18 year old solo to encounter the real experience they offer. While I was nervous to travel alone, PMGY went above and beyond to support and reassure me of any questions or worries I had such as airport transfer and money exchange.
During this trip I made friendship’s and memories that will stay with me for a lifetime.
Without doing the real experience I never would have been able to explore Sri Lanka the way I did. From 4:30am sunrise walks to relaxed evenings on Mirissa beach. During my final 2 weeks I completed the childcare volunteering project and the Maldives weekend trip. The volunteering was extremely rewarding and the teacher was so helpful and inclusive of us volunteers. PMGY also allowed me to participate in the teaching project on an afternoon to work with children of different ages.
For the Maldives weekend trip PMGY ensured all of our transfers and needs were met, this was informed to us in a meeting before we left.
While in the volunteer house we had the option of actives to do every day. Such as Henna, beach volleyball, games nights etc.
PMGY have their own transport vehicles which made me feel secure even though I was 18 and across the world from home.
Signing up for a trip alone is always the hardest part, I was nervous and debated it at the time. After completing it I can easily say it’s the best thing i’ve ever done and i’ll definitely book again with PMGY.
To anyone considering booking, I recommend to do it, you’ll not regret it and you’ll be filled with memories that will last a lifetime.

It was the best thing I could’ve asked for the projects felt like I’ve actually had an impact in something and the people I’ve met throughout this trip are the most amazing people. All the country were really beautiful and to be able to experience the different countries were fantastic.
