To put it politely, ABSOLUTE S H I T E!!!!! crashed game mid event, last weekend, taken until today to find a fix to enable game to be played! One star is more than they deserve!

Terrible, not recommended
Used to be a good online shop, not anymore, here's one example why, they recently sent me a one day voucher code which was a pretty good offer, but when I tried to make a purchase the website didn't correctly and the transaction kept crashing, this went on for 4 hours until after midnight when it worked again but surprise surprise the voucher code was no longer valid. I complained to their "customer service" department and explained my problem, they wouldn't help and only offered play reward points as an alternative. Awful company, terrible customer service and not even cheap anymore! I will never shop here again
Lost its mojo
I used to buy from Play often, they were a great company. Now their website is confusing, I'm not sure who I'm buying from or if they're trustworthy and the prices are too high.
Appaling customer service and fraudulent behaviour
Ordered 3 items from Play.com at point they were changing branding to Rakuten.co.uk. 2 of 3 delivered ok. 3rd item never delivered. Followed up with merchant/seller as instructed. Advised me they (not me) had cancelled order.
Have mailed customer services for refund 3 times and despite auto-replying that they would respond in 24hrs - nothing received yet 9and after 3 attempts nothing now expected). Taking money and not delivering when they/their merchant cancels is fraud....
Used to be great - not so any more
I have used play.com since the early 2000s and have generally had a fantastic experience with them.
However, after a long break I decided to try ordering from them using the marchsale15 code. Unfortunately the code didn't apply on one of my orders (I had to convert my account from a legacy play.com account and even this was a very confusing experience and the website clearly wasn't working correctly either) and when I realised I emailed them to let them know. Would have thought it would be simply to apply the code to my order.
They claim they'll get back to you within 24 hours, but judging from other reviews they just ignore you. I've sent them another email, but I don't expect a reply. Lucky it was just a game I ordered so I'm only down by about £5, but I don't think I'll be ordering from them again any time soon if they can't even fix simple issues like this very easily.
The Worst Internet Shopping Experience
I have given them a few chances and each time they failed. The clarity of areas of their website is appalling, probably intentionally so, so clients are deceived (e.g. hiding delivery estimated dates if they are longer than what one would expect).
Their third party sellers are untrustworthy, slower than they promise and slow to respond, and Play.com just don't care. Each time I have been forced to involve Play.com because third party sellers have performed poorly and then not responded appropriately and taking a long time to do so. Play.com however would consistently take even longer though and then just send off a standard 'paste-and-go' response.
NEVER BELIEVE THE DELIVERY ESTIMATES and you're likely to find each product cheaper elsewhere anyway.
I cannot see how a company can operate like this and hope it cannot do so for much longer, either vastly improving or dying a fast and humiliating death. WORST INTERNET COMPANY EVER.
Useless company!
Ordered Apple iPhone/iPod USB Mains Charger and Data Cable got an email to say ordered has been received, waited for a week and no delivery, check my play.com account and said 'order processing'. I contacted them by email to ask what the hold up was,(no phone number offered) was told I'd be contacted within 24 hours. No reply! Check today and the order was 'declined'. Worst customer service I've experienced, and by the look of the other reviews of this website, I'm not on my own. Stay clear of this site. Very unprofessional.
Not to be trusted
Used to be good but now a dangerous waste of time. When they take your money and no goods are supplied, they refuse to remedy. They send you an email to say they will contact you within 24 hours but never do. It is also impossible to close your account down. You cannot do it yourself online and when they email you to discuss the closure of the account (in 24 hours) they never come back to you. I'm currently now progressing with Trading Standards.
Will never use again as they steal your money.
Not using this site anymore
I have in the past, used this site with no problems but in December, me and my partner bought items from Aosom, who sell on Rakuten/Play. Of the three items bought, two were faulty and we have had faulty replacements. The hassle and time taken to rectify the issues have made me decide to put this down to experience and never use this site again.
Buyer beware!
Turned out product is refurbished
There was nothing in the description indicating that this was a refurbished product.
Scam.
Used to be good, but I am not ordering here anymore
I have ordered many products through Play in the past years. My recent shopping experience ruined, however, everything.
A UK seller (which does not deserve to even be mentioned here, see my other review) selling through Play has sent me a used and damaged item that they were legally not allowed to sell. The game was listed as "new". I immediately returned that item to the seller, but now they deny any responsibility claiming that they had never sold it to me. They took my money, issued no refund for the returned product and shipping costs and simply ignore my emails.
Play was not helpful in this regard at all (Play contacted the seller, but they are, of course, in denial considering that they are put against the wall) and I am asking myself the question what Play's FairPlay Guarantee is worth when their customers are treated this way. No more orders through Play for me anymore. It has been enough.
Very bad, seemed like a scam
Terrible - I ordered some DVDs a week before Christmas but the following day I received a very strange email full of spelling mistakes and without any reference to me or my order, saying there was a problem with the order but not how to resolve it. I contacted customer services 5 times to no avail, then 3 weeks later received an email (also full of mistakes and barely comprehensible) blaming me for the mistake... It genuinely seemed like a scam, I'm sure it's just incompetence rather than deception but they're treading a fine line!
lousy customer service
I have used this company for some time now
I placed some orders and after 4 days got an email telling my account had been suspended for security reasons
never had an explanation as to why this happened
phoned them and asked why, never got an answer
, both the first and the manager I spoke to assured me that the account is now available
imagine my surprise when I checked the account the next day to find it is still suspended
their reason, apparently I did not answer the questions the day before to verify the account
difficult to do if they do not ask them
they seem to believe a glib apology and the account is not OKS IS SUFFICIENT
dreadful customer service
Beware the 'new' items are not always new
Was looking through the new items from 3rd party sellers for Christmas presents, picked one out but when it arrived it was 'used'.
There's no way to tell once it's in your basket or on your order but having selected new I'd expected a new item (like the others selected).
No response from support or seller after a week despite 24 hour support response time. Very poor. Avoid.
Appalling , the only polite word I could think of.
8 years ago I had a bad experience with play, they allowed my account to be hacked, charge my card in which I never agreed they cojkd keep the details of and orihinally denied it.
8 yrs on I give them another chance.....never again. Ordered a dvd 12th december it was from a 3rd party and delievry estimated 18th decemebr. By the 22nd no dvd, emailed the 3rd party who replied within hours stating they had nothing from play regarding my order.
22nd I email Play.....24hr response is rubbish, im still waiting.
I email again to make an official complaint on 24th after logging in to see that on 23rd my order was declined. I had not received any correspondamce as to why and still awaiting any type of reply.
I go on to the chat option, and get told to email.
for such a large company what an appalling customer service. I posted on twitter and nothing.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Absolutely Disgusted!
Ordered a Few PS4 games on the 14th December for Christmas which were Christmas presents. They said they would be here within 2 business days. A week Passed which was the 21st of Decemeber and they Still hadn't came! So I rung up, I couldn't get through to customer service. Rung up the day after, still no answer. Finally got through earlier on today, which is 9days after I ordered the games, was put on hold for 20minutes. When she finally answerd the woman was very rude on the phone, said they wouldn't be able to deal it until after Christmas as they need to open an investigation. I proceeded on to say they were Christmas presents, and could I get a refund so I could go out and buy them in the shops and she told me a refund was not acceptable! What kind of Website doesn't do refunds on things.. So I'm left without 3 games I ordered for Christmas ... They won't be sorting it out until after Christmas ... Absolute disgrace . Will not be shopping of this website again!!!!!
Christmas Present fail
Ordered a game via one of their sellers in their Amazon style market place. The game never arrived. When I rang the seller they advised me there was a problem with payment according to the Play system so they weren't able to Fulfill the order. I never received anything from Play other than a notification confirming the order, no indication that there was any problem. The seller seemed to think that I should ring Play to sort the problem, I think as a customer I shouldn't have to ring round their different departments until I find the right person to speak to. Poor system and lack of any issue resolution procedure.
How the mighy have fallen
Been using play since DVDs launch where I used to get all my region 1 discs from. Now the cross over with Rakuten has weakened prices, support and service which is a shame.
N.B. If they went back to the old style shop and didn't try to emulate Amazon (badly) maybe things would be better
It used to be better.
I've had a customer service issue to do with a play.com voucher. Originally emailed them in September, got a response, they said they would sort my issue. Never heard back again. I have since sent about 4 more emails, issue still unresolved. Its December now.
Great
Ordered a game for my son and it came on the day of release, he was really happy.
Dreadful organisation, borderline scam company.
I bought a game that was supposed to be new, but was actually second hand. No game book and there were saved files already. Attempts to resolve this has been fruitless. Thinking this might have been a one-off, I used them again, only to be shocked further. When payment with my card failed, they simply took the money from another card on the account without permission. I have now deleted my details and will never use them again. Play.com should be considered a borderline scam company.
