Proactive Flat Roofing Solutions Ltd Disreputable

Proactive Flat Roofing Solutions Ltd. also trade as Vanguard Waterproofing Systems Ltd. are an extremely disreputable company. We carried out works for them on a site at Barking Road , London E13 in 2023, to help rectify a disastrous attempt at a roofing project. Having completed the works to a good standard, that the main contractor would accept and make sure the building was watertight, we were messed around for our money. From a total undisputed bill of £36 K we received £18.3 K and the balance of £17,7K is still outstanding. They have since allegedly sold the company to "Neville Taylor" in an attempt to avoid their debts. This is a well known tactic to avoid the Liquidation process and having to face their creditors. Search Neville Taylor to see for yourself what the story is, he is named on hundreds of companies. They are clearly trading insolvently and the last thing you should do is to pay them any money.
I invite the directors, Paul Newsome and Stephen Day to dispute any of the above, instead of laying low and avoiding creditors.
I have given one star rating, because this is the only way I can post the review, I would give them nothing if I could.
DO NOT USE THEM

Thank you for your kind review Tony. Just to be accurate, Proactive Flat Roofing Solutions Ltd is not, and never has been a company. You were indeed, one of the subcontractors for Proactive Roofing Solutions Ltd, on a site at Barking Road. You were paid fully up to date for all works agreed, and for which Purchase Orders were raised. You chose to carry out extra works (agreed with the main client we presume), even though your signed contract with us stipulates no work is to be carried out, or will be paid for, unless a Purchase Order is raised from us. Not only this, but we didn’t receive an invoice for these extra works, so you certainly aren’t a creditor. Surely, if you really think the monies are outstanding, you would have raised invoices and applied for a County Court Judgement? You are correct, we did sell Proactive Roofing Solutions Ltd in October 2023, arranged through solicitors, as we are fully entitled to do, without any CCJs. As far as we are aware, that company is still around, and has not been liquidated.

The review you have left is for an entirely different company, Vanguard Waterproofing Systems Ltd, trading as Proactive Flat Roofing, which was established in 2020. You have not had any relationship with this company and it certainly isn’t trading insolvently.

my experience with Proactive.

Just to be clear, what happened to me will not happen to you, as you will have more control over funding than I did.
I used the word "they" quite a lot in this but I mean"he" I'm not allowed to name names but you will know who I mean if you contact Proactive.
I just want you to know the kind of person you will be dealing with if you choose Proactive to fit your roof.

I was a Green Homes Grant customer which meant the government was paying for the installation of the roof.
Due to various problems with having estimates passed by the powers that be, it was agreed to take the cost of scaffolding out of the quote for the job and I would pay separately, a cost of £1600 for front and back.
I had a quote from another roofing insulation company with a cost for scaffolding of £800 for the front and back of the house.
I decided to go with this company who had yet to be certified by the government, but because of various problems, the plug was pulled on the on the grant with only three working days notice.
Proactive had in fact received their certification so I quickly contacted them and gave them the go ahead,
despite knowing I was being ripped off over the scaffolding cost.
Because I was one of the last to apply I was at the bottom of the list and it dragged on for nearly a year
before the work was started.
Scaffolding was used at the front of the house but at the rear they didn't use any, despite the fact I had paid for it.

Halfway through the work at the rear there was a storm at night and the water just poured in.
The director turned up the next morning and was very reasuring, saying that they would pay for all the damage. All we had to do was get estimates and they would cover it. He kept telling me it was a leak, all I can say is that at 1 o'clock in the morning with 90 litres of water an hour pouring through the ceiling (which doesn't include the water running down the walls and it raining in the kitchen) with ceiling panels hanging off, it sure as hell felt like a flood.

There was a cut off date for the Grant and my job was finished just a few days before.
It was made clear by the government that if the work was not signed off as being complete and any money due to the contractor was not paid, then I became responsible for the whole amount.
I was not particularly happy, but Proactive were, or seemed to be, supportive. I had no real choice but to sign the job off as being complete.

As soon as Proactive got the money their attitude changed completely. I did question this but was told it was just a coincidence. So that's ok then.
They used the word fair a lot, but I'm not sure they know what it means.
The told me it wasn't fair for them to have to pay out for new mattresses or carpets etc. as all ours were all second hand.
The fact that they allowed our house to be flooded out never seemed to enter their mind.
When I raised the question of the scaffolding and the fact that I was charged for scaffolding that was never used, I got a lot of tripe about overtime that I would then be resposible for. All rubbish and waffle of course but I suppose they felt they had to say something.

There was a lot of toing and froing with phone calls and emails from Proactive, some of it I have to say quite aggresive, but at the end of the day Proactive ripped us off over the cost of scaffolding and allowed our house to be flooded out and then walked away without looking back.
If this is the kind of company you want to work on your roof then you know where to find one.

What bothers me is what kind of job was actually done and how long it will last.
