We ordered chocolates to be picked up…

We ordered chocolates to be picked up in Ottawa on Feb. 11.
We had no clue that somehow DoorDash is tied into Purdys. Door Dash supposedly delivered it to someone- no record.

Purdys totally useless - we have to chase down DoorDash for who knows what???
They’re probably as clueless as Purdys!

Never again! I only had a 1 star choice to continue that’s why I gave them 1- they deserve 0

Me and my father bought a combined order worth just under 600 dollars. We then had to pay .25 cents for a bag to carry your merchandise. Your staff made every excuse in the book why wee had to pay this. I will no longer by/support your product I will now switch to Rogers. This is so tacky and cheap.

This is one of the best of Canada…

This is one of the best of Canada gifts.
There is a great variety and selection. I like that there are new things to try with local flavours. Hedge hog triangles, nut covered toffee, salted caramels, survival kits are our top picks. The thankyou bars are so great to have on hand and perfect for airline attendants.
The sugar free tastes as good as the regular chocolate.
I love sending to family and friends across Canada. Its a reliable service, well packaged. Unfortunately the shipping is expensive unless you spend a lot. Don't change the iconic purple and gold packaging and bags. The tins with Canadian artwork are top quality too. They get reused for years.
I bought a heart box at Valentines for my daughter. I was pleased with the quality. It brought back memories of the ones we would get years ago before Moirs dissapeared.
The local school has had a lot of success with fundraising at Christmas and Easter. The products are delivered to the school for pick up in excellent condition. I wish l could also buy in the store at that time, to have the school benefit and l could get things in the mail earlier. But we love supporting the school so thankyou Purdy's for that generous contribution.
I dont know if there are gluten free options. We have sensitivity to sulphites and gluten. The pure dark chocolate is our go-to for those people.

Just Wrong

I was shopping at Purdy’s today and the sales clerk was helpful. Purdy’s though is becoming too expensive, considering their chocolate is really not top quality. I knew that going into the store and still decided to buy some small token boxes as add-ons for some gifts. However, what turned me off was during check-out. Purdy’s was selling Christmas chocolate bars (all lined up at the check-out) for $6.00, with $2.00 being donated to Sick Kids Hospital (the usual tactic of trying to pull at heart strings) for every chocolate bar purchased. I got the whole spiel from the sales clerk and what was interesting is that he didn’t ask me if I was interested in purchasing any. He said “How many will you be buying?” I politely informed him “none” and told him why … I’ve watched too many programs that reveal none of the money makes it to where it’s supposed to go. (Informed people don’t fall for those check-out tactics). He informed me that in Purdy’s case the money does go to Sick Kids. It all just felt wrong. I just wanted to buy some over-priced chocolates. Next Christmas I will be looking elsewhere.

Very similar to a lot of the negative reviews, very poor service and lack of customer empathy. Staff dropped chocolates at the Richmond location. Someone who was a district manager called Marge reached out even though customers are very busy and don't have the time for this and customer service email was useless as they just wasted more of your time. They didn't understand the severity of the issue and have not made right by the situation at all. Marge was not empathetic or understanding of all the trouble and inconvenience caused, very poor attitude on all fronts. Just horrible experience and makes ppl never want to go back to this poor place.

Recent Price Increases

Sorry but love their products however, since my last order a few months ago, prices of their products have skyrocketed to the moon. Visited a store for a top-up. Last online order of the 98 piece custom mix box was $102, now $145. This has been within the past several months, but regardless, that is a near 50% price increase. Understanding costs are increasing, this increase is unfortunate. Just on principle, how can someone support an increase of this magnitude for something that is a pure luxury. Sorry Purdys, you have lost a lifelong customer.

Purdys never stop spamming me every week, for a year. I've unsubscribed from emails 5 times. I've emailed them, I've tried everything, but still they continue with their spam. In fact they don't even read the emails from me telling them to please stop.

Website is absolutely horrible on a mobile device. It should be really simple to add a filter to eliminate items that are not in stock. No such filter. Constant red x messages when you try and add an item to the shopping bag. For a premium chocolatier, I expect better.

I Love Them but They Could do Better Environmentally

Purdy's uses fair-trade chocolate and I love them for that. Their chocolate is also really tasty! I love that they have lots of deals for their customers. I buy their hot chocolate all the time!

But I have to only give 4 stars because they should offer bulk packs of their products (specifically their hot chocolate). It would help them cut down on their carbon footprint and possibly their manufacturing costs since they'd only need 1 lid (currently made of plastic) and 1 bottom (currently made of metal) for 2 or more tins worth of product. Biodegradable packaging would also be good, but they don't offer it yet.

I use the old tins to store spent coffee grounds for my garden. Maybe they could do a campaign showing fun ways to reuse or recycle their packaging. Next April for Earth Day, maybe?
