Worst nightmare with Qatar Airways.

Worst nightmare with Qatar Airways.

I have always had pleasant experiences with Qatar Airways in the past, which is why today’s experience at Delhi Airport came as such a shock.

During check-in for my Delhi–Doha flight, I was informed that my handbag and backpack could not both be carried as cabin baggage, despite having travelled multiple times before with a similar setup. This information was never clearly communicated, and I was forced to leave behind several personal items at the airport.

What disappointed me even more was the attitude of the check-in staff. Rather than trying to assist or explain the situation respectfully, the staff member came across as dismissive and arrogant. A mere 0.5 kg excess was treated with absolutely no flexibility or customer consideration.

Policies are policies, and I respect that. However, the way customers are treated makes all the difference. Unfortunately, this experience lacked professionalism, empathy, and basic courtesy.

After years of choosing Qatar Airways, this was by far the worst experience I have had, and it has seriously made me reconsider flying with the airline again.

I was very happy with my journey but last pard bad dor me

I was very happy with my journey from Sharjah to Japan with Qatar Airways. The airline, airport services, and staff were excellent, and the experience was so good that I decided I would choose Qatar Airways for my future travels.
However, when I returned from Japan to Sharjah, I found that two of my checked bags were badly damaged. One bag had extensive scratches, a broken zipper, and another bag had a torn rubber section of approximately 4 inches. We reported the damage immediately at the airport and were advised to submit an online complaint.
After providing all the requested details, I was disappointed to receive a response stating that the damage was not significant enough for a replacement. Considering the condition of the bags, I do not find this response acceptable. As a loyal customer who had such a positive experience otherwise, this outcome was very disappointing.
I hope Qatar Airways will reconsider this matter and provide a fair resolution.

Qatar Airways Removed Paid Seats and Offered No Meaningful Resolution

My partner and I booked flights from Sydney to Athens with Qatar Airways and specifically chose the airline because we were able to secure emergency exit row seats together on the Sydney to Doha sector.

We booked early, paid for the seats, and spent considerable time selecting them because comfort on a long-haul flight was important to us.

Months later, Qatar Airways informed us that our seats had been removed due to “operational reasons.” While they refunded the seat fees, that completely misses the point. The issue was not the refund. The issue was losing a key part of the travel experience that influenced our decision to book with Qatar Airways in the first place.

What made the experience even more disappointing was the response from customer service. We called to explain the situation and asked whether Qatar Airways could provide comparable seating, a goodwill accommodation, or any practical solution. We were told there was effectively nothing that could be done.

To make matters worse, equivalent emergency exit seats were still visible on the flight, but the airline expected us to pay again if we wanted them.

From a customer perspective, this feels unreasonable. We paid for a seating product, lost it because of an airline decision, and were then expected to purchase the same product a second time.

I understand that aircraft and operational changes happen. What I do not understand is why an airline that prides itself on customer service would offer no meaningful resolution beyond a refund and leave loyal customers to absorb the inconvenience.

The flights may still be excellent, but this experience left us feeling that our planning, loyalty, and advance purchase counted for very little when something went wrong.

Very disappointing.

Service beyond…

We arrived at MANCHESTER airport with our dog in her carrier. They deemed it too small, however the measurements of our dog and the carrier past the Qatar online booking system. Disappointed. Then the 'help machine' got into action. Sam the manager was brilliant. Found us a dog carrier seller. Got a taxi with Roxi our dog to the supplier nearby. Lovely lady helped us there and took our undersized carrier in part exchange. Back in the waiting taxi and return to the airport. Big negative not to do with Qatar the first 4 taxis in the line, would not carry my dog and they were all of a certain religion. Sam rang me and offered to help me carry the crate but I was okay
Roxi our doggie was brilliant all the time. When boarding after all the hassle a lovely lady guided us past the queues to board. Fabulous service from Sam team and Qatar Airways. We won't be using any other long haul airline.

Beware if traveling with Pets

We were relocating countries with 5 pets. A Qatar employee mislabeled our dog as ‘medium’ instead of ‘large’ after receiving the correct weight and crate dimensions. Due to his error, not our error, we were denied boarding. Traveling with pets takes months of planning. We had reservations for the new country quarantine that takes up to three months to book with no refund if you miss your slot. We had sold our cars, turned off our cell phones, had given back the keys to our Villa, and even closed our bank account and we were left stranded at the airport with 5 terrified pets. Qatar airport staff never even said sorry. They didn’t even help rebook the tickets, we asked for help at the counter to no avail. I had to borrow a phone and call their call center who then charged me $750 for my daughter’s ticket to change it and $100+ for my ticket. It was their error and they charged me!!! Because we had pets we had to reapply for cargo permission, they did not help transfer all the information, all those crate dimensions, and animal dimensions, I had to reapply for each pet and guess at which day they would have cargo space and keep changing the ticket till there was cargo space because they won’t tell you if there is space in the cargo until you have bought the ticket!!!! Craziness. We were delayed days. Our daughter missed work and her boss was not happy. Our reservations at the port of entry quarantine were lost, that is a 1000$/pet that has to go through quarantine. Qatar never once apologized for their error, they just have this blanket statement we regret any inconvenience you have experienced. They never own what they did. Furthermore the costumer rep on the phone accused me of misclassifying the pet, therefore it was my fault, and I should accept the change fee of the rebooking as punishment and not ask that it be waived!. The customer can only input weight and dimensions they can’t classify the animal for cargo. This was not our fault. We begged the staff at the airport to change the classification and we would happily pay for any additional fee, but they said only cargo could do that, so we begged them to reach out to cargo. I lie not, they just gave me cargos phone number. Again I had to borrow a phone to call cargo which never answered in over an hour of letting it ring. We actually drove to their physical site, while on hold, and tried to get them to help us to no avail. Eventually the flight took off without us aboard. We had no way of transporting the animals back from the airport and we had no home to go to and no hotel going to allow 5 pets! It was the worst experience of my life. And never once a sorry from Qatar. It cost of thousands of dollars, and many many hours of work trying to redo all the reservations required to enter animals into a different country. Had they tried to help us, and said they were sorry I wouldn’t feel so upset. But they charged us even more money and never and accused us wrongly for creating the error, which they know we couldn’t misclassify because only their employees have access that. This was months ago and to this date they are only offering compensation for the fees they charged us to rebook the flights! No compensation for all the lost reservations all the additional flights and lodging we incurred not to mention lost wages. I’d avoid the airline if traveling with pets most certainly!!

Worst customer service I have ever received

My mother passed away last year so my father and my sister wanted to spend Christmas with me in Melbourne. They had never travelled long haul before. They were coming out to stay from 18 December – 28 December, but when they booked the tickets they accidentally booked from 18 December – 28 January 2026 instead. They recognised the error immediately and had to pay £2,810 to correct the tickets.

My frustration comes from the handling of the matter afterwards. I rang the customer service centre and was told to email Qatar Customer Care. I did this and provided all the information on 11 November. I then received no response and followed up again on 24 November, 30 November and 4 December. I finally received a reply on 12 December telling me that I should not have been contacting Customer Care and instead should contact the Contact Centre — which were the very people I had spoken to initially and who had directed me down this path in the first place. At that point, I gave up because the process had become too emotionally draining during what was already a very difficult period for my family.

What has made this experience so upsetting is that during one of the hardest years of our lives, when all we were trying to do was spend our first Christmas together after losing my mother, we were met not with compassion or support, but with confusion, silence and indifference. This has genuinely been the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered.

Cannot provide transaction proof for refund

Requested a refund due to the war in the Middle East. I received an email confirmation stating that the refund had been processed, which was also confirmed by an agent. However, I still have not received the money after nearly two months.

The third-party payment service informed me that they have not received any refund from Qatar Airways, and therefore they are unable to pay me. My biggest concern is that Qatar Airways is unable to provide any proof of transaction showing that the refund was actually sent.

I have flown with Qatar Airways many times before, but after this experience, never again.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service, I fly business class and my luggage arrived late as it wasn’t transferred onto my connecting flight. When the luggage was delivered to my home it was apparent it had been tampered with as the locks were broken, the delivery man noted the locks were broken. On inspection I found all my expensive aftershaves were missing from my luggage. Water were not helpful and offered me a $50 voucher. Not what I was expecting from an award winning airline. I fly around 6-8 times a year visiting the UK. I have now moved to Saudi Airlines which are better

The worst airline experience I have seen

The worst airline experience I have ever had.
Do not even think about flying with them.

The nightmare started during transit at the airport. The staff at Hamad International Airport treated passengers in an extremely rude and disrespectful manner. I was shocked by the behavior I experienced, and the management team’s attitude felt completely discriminatory and unprofessional.

To make things even worse, both of my luggage pieces were severely damaged during the trip. Some expensive items inside one of the bags were also damaged, and the damage was officially acknowledged and approved by Qatar Airways itself.

What followed was over 4 months of exhausting emails, complaints, and endless back-and-forth just trying to receive fair compensation or replacement for damages worth more than $800. After all that, they offered me only $50, which was honestly insulting. After that, they completely stopped responding to my messages.

I eventually had no choice but to start legal action against them in the United States.

While researching, I discovered that many other passengers have gone through similar terrible experiences with Qatar Airways.

Absolutely unacceptable customer service, terrible baggage handling, and zero respect for passengers. I would never recommend this airline to anyone.

Worst airline experience ever

I had an extremely disappointing transit experience with Qatar Airways in Doha.

About one week before the flight, I submitted a transit accommodation request because we had a long connection. Despite this, after landing in Doha we were told that we would not stay at the airport hotel and would instead be sent outside the airport to another hotel. What made this even more frustrating was the fact that Hamad Airport was almost completely empty at the time.

The real issue, however, was the behavior of the transfer desk staff. From the very beginning, the employee acted careless, dismissive, and uninterested in listening to us. It genuinely felt like he did not care about the situation at all.

At one point, I calmly told him that this had become a very bad experience for us. Instead of responding professionally, he sarcastically made a double thumbs-up/OK gesture with both hands as if he was mocking us. I have honestly never experienced something like this from airline staff before.

Meanwhile, 4 elderly passengers standing near us (probably at least 65 years old) were apparently given airport hotel rooms. When I asked why they received rooms while we did not, the staff member claimed that they had “prebooked” the service. I also made my accommodation request one full week before the flight, so this explanation felt dishonest and unconvincing.

The most shocking moment came when the same staff member asked my wife TWICE whether she was drunk — despite the fact that she does not drink alcohol at all. It was humiliating, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable.

Qatar Airways markets itself as a premium, world-class airline, but this experience was the exact opposite. Poor communication, disrespectful behavior, and zero professionalism.

After this experience, I do not plan to fly with Qatar Airways again. I will also be sharing this experience publicly across social media and travel review platforms because passengers deserve to know how situations like this are handled.

There should be an option for giving 0 stars!

There should be an option for giving zero stars. Qatar Airways owes me more than 2000 $ in refund value for an upgrade that I had paid through PayPal for a flight that they eventually canceled beacuse of the war in the Gulf. I has been almost three months now. They keep stalling , coming up with lame excuses. They treat you like shit whil they keep your money in their pockets. I hope that PayPal can help.

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would. My partner and I flew to Sri Lanka in 2025 and arrived 17 hours late, missing a number of activities because Qatar had decided to not bring the plane from Doha the night before. I put in for delay compensation in May of 2025. After an entire year of being ignored, and losing all hope Qatar responded. However they still now have decided to only pay half of the agreed compensation amount, will not answer emails and have not provided any reason as to why! ‘World’s best airline’ IN WHAT WORLD??? I have told everyone I know since avoid this airline like the PLAGUE. It’s all for show, the customer service is awful, in fact I’m 90% sure there isn’t any customer service bar 3 people in a small room somewhere. Spend extra and go with a reputable carrier, Qatar Airways genuinely the worst aviation experience I have ever had in my 27 years of flying, save yourself the wasted £ and increased cortisol.

I had the absolute worst experience…

I had the absolute worst experience with Qatar Airways. After the sudden passing of my youngest sister, I immediately called the airline to cancel my flight and request a refund, giving them three weeks' notice. While the phone agent was polite, the company itself has been incredibly unhelpful.
They initially only refunded 50% of my ticket. Despite me providing both the passport copy and the death certificate as requested, they still denied my full refund. Now, they are demanding birth certificates for both my sister and me. This endless paperwork is stressful, annoying, and deeply disrespectful during a time of grief. I will never fly with Qatar Airways again, and I highly recommend that others avoid them as well.

Worst travel experience

The rules are clear about not being able to carry electronics in checked baggage, so it's very easy to exceed the 7kg limit, especially on a very long trip like from Japan to Brazil. My question was: if I can't take my electronics in checked baggage, how do I avoid exceeding the weight limit? They made me take out the electronics and put them in bags so they could see that the excess was indeed due to the electronics. After an absurd wait in line because of this, I still had to go back to the line. At security, which was super rude, they lost one of my belongings. They held me until the boarding time limit, didn't find it, and didn't do anything about it because I needed to board. At boarding, they still held me there saying they needed to change something on my tickets, but they didn't say what or why. To top it all off, the flight was delayed.

In other words, I strongly advise against flying with Qatar. Worst travel experience I've ever had.

I recently flew with Qatar airways

I recently flew with Qatar airways from Singapore to Doha.
What a disappointment the flight was.
The staff radiate an air of impatience and passive aggression creating a climate of fear to prevent you from asking for anything.
One stewardess was continuously rude until I told her I would be complaining about her, I never saw her again during the flight as she avoided my isle.
I had previously told her she was bad mannered, when I had asked her to repeat herself for me.
I saw the anger written on her face and told her I had industrial deafness and couldn't hear very well. The same stewardess when I asked for a drink stated she would give me a double so that I wouldn’t have to ask again for another drink. The implication was clear, she wasn’t extending the time between requests, she was saying that that’s your lot for this flight. She avoided any eye contact looking past or through me, making it difficult for me to hear her, as I partially lip read with being hard of hearing.
I flew earlier in the week with Singapore airlines. Wow what a contrast.
Great staff, all smiles and customer service.
Qatar airlines made me feel that I was something unpleasant that she had picked up on her shoe in the street.
My advice is avoid Qatar airways!
