Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 277 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the subscription model, finding that services initially perceived as free later required expensive annual payments. People frequently encountered issues with pricing transparency, noting that advertised monthly rates often turned into unexpected yearly charges, and that free trials quickly expired, deactivating their QR codes. Reviewers also reported problems with the payment process, including unexpected auto-renewals and difficulty canceling subscriptions. The website's information was often criticized for being unclear about trial periods and the necessity of paid subscriptions, leading to frustration when QR codes stopped working after printing. Many consumers felt the customer service was unhelpful when trying to resolve these issues.

Avoid at all costs

Last year, my plan cost 303 EUR. This year it has renewed for 450 EUR - no reminder sent or notification of increase. Can't speak to or email a person, only a chatbot. Avoid at all costs.

too freaking expensive

too freaking expensive. Use linktree instead.
They upped the price and did not notify. Was too expensive before and then got even more expensive. Their customer support is a bot and does not listen to anything.

Misleading service - paid €180 and now have a locked account

Generated two codes that expired the same day we used them for a keynote speech, leaving us no choice but to pay (€180). No option for monthly billing, only a full year upfront. No refunds under any circumstances. Support? Nonexistent. You’re stuck in endless bot loops with zero chance of reaching a real human.
When I tried to cancel the annual renewal so I wouldn’t be charged again next year, I got instantly disconnected from the tool . Now I’ve paid €180 and all I get is “account disabled.”
Outrageous. I hope they get a taste of their own medicine.

Don't use this site.

They sneakily set you up for automatic renewal then charge you over 200$ if you forget to cancel before the renewal date. With late fees. They refuse to refund.

SCAM

SCAM! Don't try to create ANYTHING with them. They say it's free, but the QR code they give points to an intermediate link, not the one you entered. From that moment on, you must pay a MONTHLY subscription to keep that intermediate page active so you can reach the URL you first entered. FRAUD!

This is a warning: do not use qr-code-generator

Update:
I found out that QR-Code-Generator is part of Bitly. When I wrote to them to report my issue, their response was quick via Facebook messenger. They sent me an email, telling me they were reviewing my issue. And within a couple of days I got a refund.
I hope that my situation will lead to a more clear messsage on the QR-Code-Generator website about their cancelation conditions, instead of hiding it in the 'Terms and Conditions' that fly by before confirming a purchase. I will not be working with them anymore. Once bitten, twice shy.

This is a warning. Do NOT subscribe to qr-code-generator.com. Cannot be trusted. Bad company. Will take your money and then stop responding!!!!! Not even deserving of 1 star!

On the day I researched this product for generating QR codes, I found that I had to subscribe to one of their plans to get the number of QRs I needed. I made a booboo. I did not read the 'Terms and conditions' (I think many of us forego that step...). I did not pay attention to the final price. And I paid. And then I heard from one of their Customer Service people what the final amount was and I was shocked. Almost $ 600 for a plan that would cover what I needed!!

So I told the person to please disregard the payment. On that same day. I did not use any of the 3 QR codes that I created by way of a test.

Their response? They created a support ticket and then turned silent on me. It took 3 weeks for them to respond. No refund. Which apparently was in their 'Terms and Conditions'. Which were nowhere to be found on their pages, by the way.

I have been talking to somebody named Cory, who was my initial pre-sales contact and he this is what he had to say on the day I wanted to bow out:

"To assist you with canceling your plan and discussing a possible refund, could you please confirm if you are referring to a paid subscription (which you mentioned you have already paid for) or if you are still within the trial period?
Once I have this confirmation, I can guide you through the next steps."

Nowhere did he mention that a refund was not possible and that this information was in their 'Terms and Conditions'. It took them 3 weeks to come to that conclusion, conveniently surpassing the 2 week trial period.

What I should have done, of course, was research them before entering into a subscription plan and be dumb enough to pay it straight away. This is what happens when you need to find something fast. Booboo on my part, admittedly. If I had researched this company, I would have then quickly found so many bad reviews that I would have backed out entirely. But their quick responses on the day seemed to point to a responsive, customer minded company. They are not.

I now no longer get personal replies, but just AI generated messages - in French! I am preparing legal actions.

For those who are interested in QRs:
I have now found out how to generate them myself from my trusted FileMaker Pro platform. A much better solution. Beats me why I did not go that route before. But nobody is perfect. And this company sure as hell is not either.

So: be warned!! Bad business!

I’d give it zero stars if possible

I’d give it zero stars if possible. They’re extortionists. You can’t contact them. They give you a free QR code then turn it off if you don’t pay. This is illegal. You can’t contact anyone. It’s bullshit. I can’t even unsubscribe to their emails. It’s awful

"Free" until there is no way back...

Feel scammed, made a QR code to use on sticker of which I got 1000 made. Only to get an email saying my QR codes would "expire" (not a thing) and I needed to pay to keep them active, really scummy and scammy business practice if you ask me...

Close to a scam - avoid at all costs

Signed up to what I thought was a one month account, to find I was billed for a full year. Cancelled it when I realised, but cannot get a refund - nor talk to a real person. Support is AI chat, and not very good at that. This is close to a scam - avoid at all costs.

STAY AWAY!

STAY AWAY!! Code stops working after 14 days, THEN you "have" to purchase something to keep it active. They advertise a cheap/monthly plan - OOPS, they don't tell you they charge full annual price immediately. THEN you find out you can't get a refund. Terrible experience.

Scam – hidden costs and no monthly option

I feel completely scammed by this service. They advertise “free QR codes”, but as soon as you actually need them, you’re forced into a yearly subscription of €178 without any monthly option. That’s not transparent and feels like a trap. I used the codes once for a trade fair and now, a year later, I’m suddenly asked to pay again – without clear renewal information and without even being able to log into my account. Absolute scam practice, stay away!

Extremely disappointing experience.

Extremely disappointing experience.
From the very beginning the free trial did not work as advertised — the QR code stopped working and nothing could be fixed. Out of urgency I even paid, but the payment changed absolutely nothing.

Support is completely unreachable. No way to contact a real person, no help, no solution. Refund is impossible even though the service never worked at all.

This company provides an unreliable product and zero customer support. A complete waste of time and money — avoid at all costs.

Zero support. Hidden free features. Hostage codes.

There is zero customer support, other than a help section and an AI chatbot. No email. No phone call. No social media response. Regardless of the size of your problem. And beware, their goal is for you to ignorantly ONLY create dynamic QR codes that they control, and they bury the static QR code feature so you have to search for it. They will claim there's no way to convert your dynamic codes to static, and essentially hold your codes ransom, making it virtually impossible to downgrade.
