Booked 2 nights stay @short notice

Booked 2 nights stay @short notice . On website this looks ok. After 508 mile journey arrived @ around 4 p.m. 20/04/26.First impressions dire. Entrance via a shabby smelly & dirty add on of glass, feet stuck to floor . Waiting to book in place in desperate need of COMPLETE OVERHAUL. Very musty smell same sticking to carpet! Lift control panel beyond grubby. We had already decided NO WAY to eat here. Just shower & go out to eat. However bedroom just as desperate as the rest this far. Freezing cold appeared to have multi layers of carpet one on top of another! Bathroom. Enormous window blinded by the full sun. NO PRIVACY BLIND / CURTAIN.Frosted glass BUT NOT opaque this was overlooked by ? Houses/offices. My wife on inspection from out side COULD INDEED see my FIGURE!
Left 2 bags in room and left to find alternative accommodation. This we did further up the coast a really superb hotel NO COMPARISON to this The Queens. Went back to collect luggage hand back keys. The receptionist said they do NOT have to provide blinds in bathrooms she offered to re room us! Obviously the rest of what we had noted up to that point was LESS THAN ACCEPTABLE so declined.
On return home rang the Queens for a refund.Same receptionist stated YES full refund would be given she remembered WE were the couple who left. Then less than 24 hrs later rang back again stating NO REFUND. She gave some BALONEY that this call now was for someone else. Followed by the height of rudeness cutting of the conversation.
Good MANNERS COST NOTHING.
This Queens is a complete misrepresentation the website IS IN NO way the Real Deal.
Built in 1860s and stayed there. The entrance appears to be for the happy clapper alcoholics & ALL others who stay there voluntarily obviously do not mind the filth & decay. It is appalling that places like this STILL exist.
My bank is now attending to claiming the refund as Booking.com JUST ignore any & all e mails. They have NO contact number either.
Arrogance ignorance condescension and absence of Basic Good MANNERS merely SHOW the type of people these are. SHAME ON EACH ONE
