The 6-course tasting menu is fairly well designed - most courses do not need last-minute cooking for example. The portions are very small and the sixth course is coffee, so in reality not a lot of food. The big problem is with the main course: apart from the "house cut" (a 7-ounce sirloin steak) all other cuts have an extra charge. There are no accompaniments, so all those are extra too. And even the coffee course - anything other than a basic espresso is charged extra. I find this somewhat misleading, and very disappointing. The food was OK but to be honest, not that special: our third course was a "special of the day", a courgette and ricotta salad. Thinly sliced courgettes with hardly any dressing and a teaspoon of ricotta, and a few pine nuts. This could have been excellent: seasonal and tasty. Again, very disappointing. Makes people think the Brits still can't do food. Oh, and the non-refundable £10 per person deposit for the privilege of booking on Fridays and Saturdays. By all means take a credit card number in case of no-shows, but frankly this is really poor practice.

Premium weekend stay? Unfortunately not. A more accurate description would be deeply disappointing.
This experience fell well short of the premium weekend advertised. On every level, it failed to meet expectations.
Warbrook House looked impressive online and initially appeared attractive on arrival from a distance. However, that positive first impression quickly faded. The property itself is tired, poorly maintained, and in need of significant refurbishment. The interior décor is dated, with walls requiring repainting and carpets that appeared not to have been cleaned for some time. Externally, the situation was no better. During walks around the grounds, we came across several areas being used to store construction waste, while bin store doors and fencing were broken and visibly deteriorating.
The biggest disappointment was the room we were allocated. There was a persistent smell of drains coming from the bathroom sink, and the carpets again appeared unclean. The room felt neglected, with worn furnishings and poor layout. The furniture was oversized for the space, making part of the wardrobe inaccessible due to a large desk blocking access. The television was also not functioning.
The bathroom was equally disappointing. The toilet took an excessive amount of time to refill between uses, the shower was not particularly clean, and the bathroom door would not close properly. Overall, the room fell far below even basic expectations, let alone those of a premium stay.
The murder mystery event itself was passable, although it suffered from a weak storyline and some questionable musical performances. In truth, the production was largely carried by two strong performers. Unfortunately, much of the remaining cast lacked presence, and several of the characters felt underdeveloped and unengaging.
Breakfast on the final morning reinforced the overall sense of disappointment. Seating was limited, with most available tables still uncleared and dirty. The food quality was poor, with what appeared to be low-cost ingredients, stale pastries, and hot items that were lukewarm and lacking in flavour. To make matters worse, there was only one coffee machine available, which spilled coffee while dispensing and served it into stained, unclean-looking cups.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience that did not deliver on its premium branding. Both the accommodation and the event fell significantly below expectations, and I would not recommend Warbrook House based on this visit.

We’ve bought several experiences from Red Letters Day over the years, I always buy the gift box which is lovely and makes the gift extra special and not expensive
Thanks

Reasonably easy to navigate the site. I bought a couple of experiences for my work colleague on his retirement. Some extra information about buying as a gift for someone would be helpful including putting their name on the experience.

If you are giving this as a present, don’t!
Brother bought me the “Dining Delights” package which came with a nice glossy brochure with a load of fine dinings places listed. When I went to the website NONE of them were listed!
Actually found a nice country pub with amazing food listed in the book, booked and paid ourselves for a great night away and just lied to my brother. The pub actually said they were never in the Red Letter system and kept telling them to remove them.
Finally used the voucher. Loads of crappy afternoon tea, meals, etc miles away from where we live (Bristol).
Told my wife to never ever use this firm for any gifts to anyone! Just go to the venue direct, most do vouchers you can gift to someone.

We were gifted a "Dining Delights" gift voucher and I have to say it has been the most frustrating experience attempting to find and book something suitable.
For a start the website search engine is dire. Chucks up everything they have with no real way of filtering. It is incredibly time consuming.
Trying to find the advertised restaurants participating in the scheme (from the accompanying brochure) is nigh on impossible. Some of the restaurants we eventually chose had never been part of the scheme. I rang several and they denied all knowledge of Red Letter Days, or ever being part of their scheme.
There were also very few decent options to choose from with most of the restaurants being high street chains.
I have spent hours online and sending emails.
In the end I have paid an additional amount to upgrade the voucher and had to make my booking directly with a restaurant.
Never again.

A good choice of what I was looking for. But need more. Theres too many spa days, my family and friends like a hotel by an attraction, village, gardens, mountains, adventure rather than relax. But what I found is ideal for an 80 year old lady with lots of energy for adventure and walks.
It was easy to pick what I wanted and how to recieve it and very pleased with the gift box, not flimsy.
Instructions read clear and strait forward.
As this is a gift for someone else, and only just bought it cannot refer to anything else, maybe send this review a few wks after buying? Then I could comment on booking.com, staff, service and others.
