If you book a room they'll give it to someone else

I would give this negative stars is possible. We didn't even make it into our room.

Upon arriving, we were informed by a gentleman waiting outside that they were completely overbooked. At first I thought he meant only overbooked for walk-ins. We let him know we had a reservation. He lets us know that no, they are overbooked. Our room we booked had been filled because "all the third party websites are screwing up and keep sending bookings to us when we are full". So at this point we are out the rooms we paid for, after driving 9 hours, with nothing more than a "sorry I can't do anything" from this guy. Now, I can believe mistakes happen, and maybe it was Expedia's fault, which is where we booked it from. BUT this man at the door was not front desk staff, or the manager. He was maintenance. What was this man doing bearing this responsibility? Where were the people whose job this is? Because their booking staff or whatever you call it was completely unmanned. Naturally, this mans tone was combative. I didn't find it pleasant, but after telling and having to explain to tons of people that they had no place to stay, I understand. While combative, and while he could offer us no help, it wasn't his job.

I did ask him how long they've known about this issue and was told a couple days. They've known about this for a couple days, a period of time where if they called us, we could've cancelled our booking, got our money back, and found another hotel before we were 9 hours from home and comfort. The fact that the hotel knew about this issue and left the dispensing of this information to the maintenance man trying to lock up was completely negligent.

The reason this hotel is getting the bad review as opposed to Expedia, regardless of whose fault it was, is because Expedia has answered their phone, immediately taken action to get us another hotel booked without charging us what we've already been charged, and Expedia has attempted to call the hotel multiple times as well, to no avail. I have seen more effort from the "third party website that screwed up" than the hotel, so I honestly wonder if this is really on Expedia. Even if it it were, I've experienced accountability and help, where the hotel's phone just rings and rings. There door is locked now, and the maintenance man has left. There is no one here now to tell any future guests what is going on. I don't blame the maintenance man. Where was his help from his higher ups? Booking issues should fall in the hands of the front desk people, and their managers. And again, while mistakes happen, if they knew about this issue, they should've called us and told us.

While writing this review and my boyfriend was on the phone with Expedia, he found another worker who told us she saw our name on their roster, which means we do have our rooms supposedly available, but no one was around to check or see. So we have a room, but don't have access to it. Oh well, we are already changing things with Expedia.

Furthermore, my boyfriend was walking around while on hold to tell anyone else arriving about the issue, and spoke with a man who DID book directly through their website (not a third party) and is still not being given his room. So Red roof, what gives?

All I can say for this property?Probably not worth it. But if you are so desperate to book here, make sure you call them directly. Don't book through a third party website, or they'll give your room to someone else. Actually scratch that- even THEN they might give the room to someone else.

The “non smoking” rooms reeked of smoke. As someone allergic to smoke, it was a huge disappointment, and affected my health. Dirty shower curtains, dirty room, and we found a women’s pad on our nightstand. Would not recommend!

This place gives Red Roof Inn a bad reputation

Stayed at Red Roof inn in Whytheville Virginia . Front desk not lit and empty . The person who appeared later was not friendly at all . Gave the card keys to a room that was not cleaned with bed sheets and towels on the floor . The smoking smell was unbelievable ( booked a none smoking room ! ) . Went back down to so called front desk ( my wife and I are handicapped ! ) . We’re given another room where the plaster from the ceiling next to the front door and in the bathroom was coming off in big chunks. There was a broken light bulb in pieces on one of the pillows that came off from a lamp above the bed . Room was dark as many of the bulbs were burned. Coffee maker without coffee or filters . Went back down to from desk to be told they have no coffee . Could not even get a cup of coffee in the lobby … received no comments or reaction about the broken bulb pieces on the pillow !!!

In the morning went down for the so called free continental breakfast at around 8 am to find nothing available as breakfast starts a 7 am supposedly !!!

This is not the Red Roof Inn I am used to !

STAY AWAY

My room wasn't available after booking weeks in advance, we were given a dirty room with rust, holes, and urine stains, and worst of all the front desk woman Lisa yelled at me and my boyfriend while trying to check in and gave us the worst customer service I could get without getting the cops involved raising her voice and calling us irresponsible told us she was judging us just for asking if she could use a picture of my ID and confirmation number. Instead of being told no we were verbally berated then out in a dirty room. When I contacted corporate they didn't even offer to comp the room let alone give free rooms. I travel frequently and have never experienced anything like this. 0 stars STAY AWAY

Discrimination at the Red Roof Inn

June 2nd 2023

Red Roof Inn, Knoxville TN

I will never step a foot back in a red roof inn again.
My wife and I were traveling back from Louisiana, stopped in Knoxville TN because of car trouble, she was tired, and needed to rest, and with a medical condition. We walked in the lobby and waited for the gentleman in front of us to finish checking in, when it was our turn, the guy behind the counter looked at us, and before we could say anything, he told us the there were No Rooms Available, with a snoody attitude. The walk in couple behind us got a room.
I don't know what, or why we were refused accommodations, maybe because we were not wearing expensive clothes, not driving a new vehicle, or our wind blown hair, ect, ect, ect,.
When we walked outside, I took my phone to pull up their website, they hey had plenty rooms available.

Probably won’t be back…

Upon my arrival (4:45p) I was under the impression that my floor would have an ice maker. the building I was in didn’t have an ice maker. the building (2nd) next to the main building had the ice maker. which wouldn’t have been a problem had there not been sketchy people trolling the parking lot & it wasn’t raining.

Room was clean. Definitely could’ve been better had there been a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker inside the room.

If you like run down rooms that look no…

If you like run down rooms that look no where close to the pictures they have online, working girls, drug dealers, vagrants getting high, drinking and being loud in the parking lot and in the smoking areas to spend $150.00 for a night and then another $150.00 because my better half was too scared to go to the smoking areas after we made multiple requests to the front desk to do something about it and was ignored, this is your destination. I'm actually a little bewildered on how they have been able to keep their franchise rights

Do not stay here!

Every room smelled Marijuana and they Manager and Workers downstairs were smoking Weed and Cigarettes giving us no sign of respect. And they reuse the sheets for the bed. Luckily I switched hotels.

(I had to spray Perfume to remove the Marijuana smell.

Was visiting my nephews at the cruise port location in Jacksonville. And the racist security told me I had to leave. Since when red roof inn brand such as this say no visitors. That’s the wrong image you’re providing. The security was racist called us “n-word” something has to be done. I will be calling. This unacceptable. Worst experience and humiliation at its best

Employees do not wanna do their jobs. They stand outside yelling about cleaning daily.…

Red Roof front desk called and stated towels were ruined.
Towels were NOT ruined. The parking lot is black top. Shoes traveling inside and out cases transfer to floors.
Front desk was extremely rude about it.
The tile in the bathroom is white. Blacktop dirt and white tile does not mix.
They leave the breakfast area nasty until breakfast is over. They do Not attempt to clean it until breakfast hours are over.

The employees walk around outside yelling about cleaning rooms. They have an issue with every room every day.

Which is causing stress on people who are renting rooms.

I do Not recommend staying at Red Roof due to rude employees that don't wanna do their jobs.

We stayed at the one in Fulton NY. This is the worse place for anyone to stay. The women in the front in the evening is the nasty person and ever. the place itself is filty. Spider webs all over the walls, spiders hanging from ceiling. Fridge has mold in them. Televisions don't work. And the best is the bed bugs in the beds. Horrible place. whatever you do, don't stay there

Mold infested room

I was placed in a mold infested room without any knowledge and ended up getting upper respiratory illness had to go to the hospital and gets all sorts of test did due to the bad conditions. I will never in life go to any red roof inn again. I'm missing work and that's something that is unforgivable. And besides offering me a refund they had the audacity to try and switch my room. Why the clean room without the mold wasn't offered to me in the first place!

Don't stay at Red Roof

Travelling back to Canada with our dog and stopped at the Red Roof Inn in Columbia, MO. Ask reservation to inspect the room prior to checking in so I went to rm. 108 and the floor was filthy and the door did not lock from the outside. Receptionist stated that she made an error and that was the Manager's room. We then were assigned rm. 118. Floor was filthy but it was late so we paid for the room. No chairs in the room. Tenant 3 room over knocked on the door and showed me his phone indicating I requested a chair but didn't speak English. A broken chair was delivered. At 4:00 am the alarm in the room went off and our dog went crazy. My wife took our dog and herself to sleep in the car. I called the office twice, once at 4:00 am and again at 4:30 am letting the phone ring 18 times each time with no answer. I removed the alarm from the wall and removed the battery in an attempt to stop the loud screech every 30 seconds. Noticed that wires were connected and left the alarm alone. Noticed the temperature in the bathroom next to the alarm was very warm and checked the room thermostat was set to 80 degrees. Once the thermostat was turned off, the screech stopped. We never touched the thermostat. Notified the Manager, Raven, about our experience and she was extremely rude stating that we should have gone directly to the office to report the issue. 4:00 am, 4:30 am calling with no response and I am supposed to go to an office where no-one answers the phone. I mentioned the blood on he sheets, dead bug next to the headboard, the spider weaving a web on the corner of the TV. I stated that I was writing a negative review and Raven declared she would charge my credit card for removing the battery since she still had my credit card information. We have stayed at 4 Red Roof properties in the past because of their free dog policy but will not ever stay at Red Roof Inn again. Stay away.

This is the worse hotel I have ever…

DON'T BOOK WITH RED ROOF INN. For sure in San Antonio, Texas. This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed at in my 69 years of living!! The room was so small and cramped with 2 full sized beds. There was no fridge and no hair dryer. The WiFi was horrible!! They don't even offer a continental breakfast. The coffee was the nastiest I have ever had. I was curious and checked the a/c filters...OMG...they were so dirty. They looked like they had never been cleaned.
Com on Red Roof Inn, with COVID and this is how you do your maintenance!! For the price of $130 per night it was a rip-off. They also charged $15.00 per night for parking. I have never heard of this ever. I would definitely not recommend Red Roof Inn if it were the last hotel around.

Cheap hotels don't have good customer service. Read this before you book.

My experience:
1. I was in Pigeon Forge with over 4 stars review. I wanted to extend my vacations, but I didn't want to hurt my pocket.
2. I tried to reserve online, but in Pigeon Forge (Smokey Mountain) the data of the smartphone are not steady. So I called them.
3. It was almost impossible to understand the lady on the phone. Her voice sounded muffled. She was able to understand us. But we didn't understand her. If you want to try, call reservation, and you'll see right away the issues.
4. The day before the check in, my wife got sick, and we decided to drive back to Florida. But before, we call to cancel. This time, the lady was the one at front desk. She agreed to cancel, but she said we called like 10 minutes late, so I was going to see a cancellation fee on my CC. She also told me that she was going to leave a note, so I can call later and dispute the fees, because it was only like 10 minutes or so.
5. I called them back, and I ask them to help me, and they transfer me to front desk. I do believe I was talking to the same lady I talked to before. I explained to her the situation, and she told me that I called late for the cancellation, and they will not cancel the fees.
It was a service I didn't use, the hotel was 100% full, so my cancellation couldn't affect other customers or the hotel, and I called just a few minutes late. The worst part is, that that lady made think that everything was ok, misleading or creating the false impression that I was going to have a refund. I guess cheap hotels don't do enough money to have a customer service for claims, and keep their word. What a shame.

Absolutely thankful

Absolutely thankful. Location Edgewood MD. I came in totally exhausted and frustrated with other motels and the traffic. I was welcomed with a smile and felt welcomed with a delightful receptionist. Check in was easy and efficient. My dog was welcomed piece was great. Room was clean and very welcoming and cozy. . I had stayed at a high end motel the night before and it had nothing on this motel. We were extremely comfortable and felt safe. Cannot say enough good things about this location. On my way back home I plan to stay the night again. Thank you to all the wonderful staff. The smiles and happy attitude made a huge difference..

Stayed at the Red Roof Inn Fairgrounds…

Stayed at the Red Roof Inn Fairgrounds while on vacation. It was a terrible experience. At this hotel money is more important than the guest. We paid for 4 nights and the air conditioner didn't work. We had a newborn and had to sit outside because it felt cooler outside than in the room. I notified the front desk of this, and their reply was I had to wait until checkout time, checkout and find something to do until 3 and they would see if I could switch rooms but it wasn't guaranteed. It had many roaches, stains on the bed, and smelled horrible. They never came to check the air and we ended up leaving a night early because we were sweating in the room. My kids were devastated and they didn't accommodate me at all. Worst customer service ever

I’ve stayed at various locations…

I’ve stayed at various locations throughout Central FL, and Tampa and even lived in one of their extended stays for several months. I can tell you, the company is terrible. I had some things stolen by an employee and the company said “they had no liability” even though they were taken from my room, for a major corporation that is completely absurd they don’t have insurance policies in place for that type of thing. The grounds are terrible in most locations. In certain hotels they will charge up to 200$ for a deposit, which is very high and some front desk people like to keep portions of it. I gave two stars because the RediRewards system is AWESOME for people in situations like mine, but it’s the company’s only redeeming quality IMO. The quality of most of their hotels doesn’t match the price, you shouldn’t have to buy your own toiletries & cleaning supplies in a hotel that’s 80+ a night.
