You are charged extra services without knowing or needing them

I wanted to share my experience with Regina Maria because I think it’s something other patients should be aware of.

Over the past ~2.5 years, I had around 16 transvaginal ultrasounds during gynecology visits, often even when I went just to review lab results.Everything was always normal, and no one clearly explained why so many repeated ultrasounds were needed. I really trusted my doctor in everything he recommended, until I realized that I was charged between 900- 1000 RON almost every time I went for a routine check-up. For instance, after a visit to interpret some lab tests, he charged 1060 RON.

What concerned me more is that visits for “lab interpretation” were consistently billed as full consultations + ultrasound, which made them much more expensive, even when that wasn’t the reason for my visit.

I also had an ophthalmology visit for a mild conjunctivitis where I was charged for services I didn’t ask for (including a glasses prescription). The bill was later reduced (from 690 to 410 RON) without any written explanation — I only noticed it in the app.

Another red flag: one of my requests sent through the patient app simply disappeared without any response.

Overall, this raised concerns for me about unnecessary procedures, billing transparency, and communication. I’d recommend asking questions and double-checking what you’re being charged for.

The service is a joke

The service is a joke. Went to make a reservation at one of the blood centre and the person at the desk was more preoccupied with her Whatup conversation.
I have asked her to give me a price for the service - “my colleague will let you know tomorrow but is between 200-700 lei”
Asked twice for her to confirm that I need to bring an urine sample!!
Been trying for months to get into my account , nobody can help me and they refused to transfer me to IT department.
Do you want a better service? Just go somewhere else!
P.S. One star is too much

Worst Medical Services in Romania

I simply don't want to bore you will all the details, the sum of reviews says it all.. but I'll summarize a few below.

- worst customers service at the reception. (maybe they were waiting to go home..)
- price for services.. you pay a sum ~60euro for the consult (meaning you enter the room and take a seat) every other investigation (looking in your neck, eyes, nose, or lung check-up, etc..) cost additional money (and they don't tell you that, you find out when you exit that you need to pay)
- other than that they are not assuming their recommendation even if they are wrong. I got a prescription for glasses and it was wrong. I didn't see with them. They didn't offer to fix their error so I went to another clinic another consult another prescription another pair of glasses on my expense.
- they quietly renew subscriptions if you are not paying attention to that and end up paying good money to termination of contract.
- and the list can go on but I've said I'll keep it short. All-in-all I'm not recommending Regina Maria. There are many many more alternatives of greater service quality and cheaper prices.

Shockingly bad administrative experience with Regina Maria

We chose Regina Maria primarily for their pediatric services, and to be fair, we have not been disappointed with the doctors. The medical care itself has been good, and the pediatricians we interacted with were professional and competent.

Unfortunately, the administrative side is a completely different story.

We were charged for services that were clearly included in our subscription (abonament). When we raised the issue, instead of resolving it properly, we were offered “compensation vouchers” that, as it turns out, did not actually exist in the system.

It has now been approximately eight months of trying to recover our money. Responses take months — if they come at all. Sometimes we are told that emails were sent (they were not), other times there is simply no follow-up. The lack of accountability and transparency is deeply frustrating.

In 2026, this kind of administrative dysfunction is shocking — especially from a private medical network that positions itself as premium.

The doctors deserve better support from the system behind them.

Mercenaries not doctors

Their main problem was to keep us in their hospital after my wife gave premature birth. They almost made my wife go into a coma shorlty after birth, giving her glucose after she had gestational diabetes, going to 400 blood sugar. Didn’t told us all the things about our baby and some of the doctors kept my wife in panic suggesting that only their machines were keeping the baby alive….

Negative Experience with Dr

I was completely ridiculed and belittled by this doctor from the second I stepped foot in his room.

Firstly he asked me “where I worked?” And once I started talking, he replied “actually, I don’t care” and laughed.

He then proceeded to tell me he did not feel that I needed the medication I was on (after just meeting me 2 minutes prior). If he knew my medical history, he certainly wouldn't be so quick to make a dangerous assumption.

He told me that I had the mental maturity of someone “younger than 20” (I am 25) which is “really not good” and that I appear to have “very low self esteem”. These things he concluded about me after 10 minutes. I did not ask him his opinion on these things.

I am not sure if this doctor simply had a bad day (or is struggling in his personal life) and wanted to make an innocent woman’s day just as bad as his - or perhaps he had something against women in general. His attitude would suggest so. I felt verbally abused and extremely patronised by this man.

I truly feel very sorry to anyone who has had a similar experience with him. As a vulnerable young person who has just moved to the country, my experience with him has made me feel unsafe and unsupported. I will not be returning to him for future appointments.

I have a subscription from my workplace…

I have a subscription from my workplace at Regina Maria and I had an extremely unpleasant experience. I had my tests recommended by the endocrinologist in June, I received them in July, but the doctor's appointment for interpretation was only given to me in OCTOBER - almost 4 months of waiting! I called several times to ask if there were any places earlier and the answer was that close programs are only for a fee (345 lei). I consider it unacceptable that patients with a subscription are left to wait for months for a treatment, while places are immediately released for those who pay separately. Basically, the subscription has no real value, and the patient's health is treated as secondary. I recommend that companies re-analyze their collaborations with Regina Maria, because what is promoted as an "employee benefit" turns, in reality, into a mockery. If this is the level of seriousness, then it would be more correct to go through the CAS.

Only one person at the counter, he was registering customers and also taking medical samples for analises. He did his best but one person had no chance of keeping up. Ofcourse the schedules were left far behind because he had to write and to take samples. Go somewhere else there are tons of other clinics more professional.

Very bad experience at Regina Maria in…

Very bad experience at Regina Maria in Cluj Napoca. First appointment was wrongly made on the wrong day so I had to reschedule with someone else available on the day to don't travel another day for hours so I had an appotiment with Mariana Ciutre. She gave me a treatment for bacterial infection and never followed up to check the infection was gone. Months passed and she just advised to consult DR Romeo Micu. Even worst experience, he said IUI was the option for me, made me waste money, time and put me under a lot of stress rushing me through appointments. I wasn't considered when I asked if any other test was needed to then found out after 2 IUI (1000 euros gone) luckly with another doctor who decided to look dipper into my case that I still have an infection to treat. I wouldn't recommend these doctors to anybody! this Hospital only think about making money not about patient care!

Very bad experience at Regina Maria Baneasa Hospital

I had a planned consultation for doctor Jitianu at Regina Maria Baneasa Hospital.
I was informed 5 min after the time of consultation was supposed to start that the doctor had an emergency and would be a little late. When I asked how much, the answer was 30min. She didn’t show at least 50min and when she came, she started to take other people and when I asked why not me, as I was scheduled, she kept taking some so called emergencies, although I could see very clear what was happening and that those people had been introduced over the scheduled once. After 70 min of waiting, and I stayed only because I also had urgent situation to resolve, I went to the reception to ask to write a complaint to the director. But the reception called the doctor and only then she invited me in the cabinet. She was very upset that I didn’t understand she had emergencies. I told her that I also had pain and I needed urgent attention. She collected some analysis but in a painful way compared to my other experiences and she kept saying that I was exaggerating. She even didn’t collect an important analysis that was even recommended by her in the past and I insisted to take it, after waiting do much, so another painful collection …. I will never go to this doctor ever again, and this situation added to my frustration and unhappiness with Regina Maria. This is a very bad medical network, but my company has subscription at them, unfortunately.

Awful customer service

I wanted to take some genetic tests and I was explained that when I will have the results I can request an appointment for a doctor to explain me these results and their impact. This consultation was included in the price I paid for the tests (quite expensive). But when I wanted to book this appointment I found no way to book it, only if I pay extra. I asked a few times for help on this matter and each time was told that someone will call me... no one did. Ever. And my requests were closed one by one with on comments or explanation...after all, who am I to ask for explanations after paying about 700 EUR? It's funny because they say that they care about feedback and all that...surprise...

Really poor quality of service and…

Really poor quality of service and not-so-skilled doctors. The doctors are full of themselves, not helpful and they intentionally break apart de process of consultation and medical analysis so you will have more invoices and things to pay. They are building their status quo and money, especially from the corporate world (like myself) which pays for the employees' subscription and when you need something to treat yourself: surprise, it's not included in the free package and you need to pay. I wish employees could opt out of this fraud. It is a joke. The only thing they have is nice& clean places with cool furniture but the horror begins with underqualified ego driven stuff.

I have only positives to say

I have only positives to say about Ponderas.

This is about my wonderful surgeon Gerard Filip and the Regina Maria clinic that he serves by adhering to ethical standards and practices in all aspects of patient care.

I chose Ponderas at the suggestion of my friends. Doctors themselves. I had had in my life the benefit of the best services in North America up to the point where something went wrong and I lost trust in them. Not as a whole, but as a particular team and protocol. Not dwelling on that as I am a kind, positive person.

I come from Canada to Bucharest with a frightening diagnostic and entrusted myself to this clinic in terms of Assessment and Surgical Treatment. I was amazed by the speed and the complexity of the pre-surgery assessment. My medical e-file was a collage of Canadian, American and Romanian inputs. Out of which the Romanians from Ponderas were the most daring yet precise and fine.

Dr. Gerard Filp detailed surgical plans considering my condition, medical history, and the type of surgery required. He coordinated the efforts of the surgical team, which includes anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical aids. And here I cannot praise enough Dr. Dana Nedelcu, the most amazing person/ professional personality I met in this hospital.
The condtions post-surgery were absolutely septic. I benefited of IVs of vitamins and antibioitics meant to eliminate any risk of infection or slow recovery.

I really hope Romanians know at Ponderas all surgeons stay updated with the latest advancements in surgical techniques, technologies, and medical research. And my surgeon - Gerard Filip in particular. You can test them after you do your research. Ask them questions and you will be amazed how well they know the latest advancements and when to deal with finesse in cutting or when to be daring and bold. I needed a fine cut, non-invasive, but an effective and daring surgery. I had exactly that and the outcome of this was extremely positive.

I am one of those people who gave their health to make money and now pays to regain their health. And I am happy I chose my country of origin and Gerard Filip as the surgeon who dealt with the most challenging part of my overall health while bringing it to a light. Of hope. Of no return to the worrying stage.

Please trust Ponderas Clinic. Do not let your critical self pick on irrelevant details. See that you have a clinic fully equipped to deal with the most treasurable part of you: your health.

I thank all the employees who dealt with my case: lab technicians, nurses, doctors. I had a very pleasant medical experience whilst dealing with the most unpleasant part of my health. And this all have to be the result of a good co-ordinator whom I never met or known. Congratulations to the leading team of this Ponderas Regina Maria clinic.

I will write about Dr. Dana Nedelcu from Imagistics now. This is a real saint. She understand and shares the feelings of patients, recognizing their concerns and fears about diagnostic procedures and results. This was my case.

Dr Nedelcu provided me with reassurance during potentially stressful imaging procedures. In my case she displayed patience and empathy that reduced my anxiety.

A good radiologist is a miracle for patients and the surgeons they guide. This Doctor surpasses the expectations of all of us. She would be a gem to any country's health system. Yet she chose to work for you, for us, her patients at Ponderas.

Dedication is a small word applied to Dr. Dana Nedelcu. While I type this review I am thinking of all the positive words I may use ... and realize they all fall short of decribiing her. I really, really hope you, the patient after me will benefit from the knowledge of this doctor, the most beautiful soul in the Ponderas medical team I met.

Her ability to blend technical skills with empathy and communication sets Dr. Dana Nedelcu apart and ensures that patients feel understood, respected, and well-cared for throughout their diagnostic journey.

I promise myself to always come back to Ponderas if needs arise. To you, the patient after me reading this review: please give yourself the chance to be positive and be thankful you have this clinic.

Poor and expensive

Even with a subscription, some medical tests are very expensive. When I tried to make only two tests presented on their site as possible to be reimbursed by the health insurance system (on a basis of a referral from a specialist doctor), I was told it was not doable.
Moreover, many of their doctors with high rates (over 9.5/10, probably not real) are not professional.

Non-existing customer care

I've been asking Regina Maria for invoices several times after completing the procesures, for me to settle the costs of the procedures through private medical insurance provider. First they sent just a part of the docs via email, after calling them back twice and telling them exactly what are the missing invoices (I've searched for my tax receipts), they were able to send the missing invoices. When asking them the fiscal invoices in original, they didn't reply at all. Because of them I've lost the 30 days time interval to recover my money from the insurer, just because Regina Maria didn't bother to give me the invoices that I am entitled to. Such indolence and carelessness for your clients... you should be ashamed of yourself.
