On both occasions bad service

On both occasions, I’ve been 3/4 hours late , train just stops for an hour in the middle of nowhere , no free water for the extra 4 hours , definitely don’t use them if you have connecting flights as it’s the most painful journey of my life Alicante to bcn !! I’ve been to Australia faster !! I suggest informing the passengers also instead of them losing there mind with no info !! I can send both tickets which I hope will be refunded or at least something done about the bad service

:( it's baaaad

Unfortunately I must concur the negative reviews of the Spanish train service. It is a true nightmare to travel across Spain. There's more admin than when flying by a plane. You are forced to give all passenger personal details, passport numbers and you are exposed to personal data theft. If that's the future of Europe, it's a really sad future. When trying to buy tickets a number of unknown transactions appeared on my Wise approval.
Not to mention that the train has 40 minutes delay which for this price is unacceptable. Do not believe the prices that you see on Google. For our journey is shows 11 euros but in fact it costs 35-70 euros per person for a short journey.

Terrible customer service and staff

Would give zero stars if I could. Very unfriendly staff, especially as a Canadian who speaks limited Spanish.
I would recommend flying, driving or using any other mode of transportation before using this train company.

Cheap and best train

I've taken this train 4 times already and I've never had a bad experience. Firstly, this is the only train in France (especially a Spanish one) that goes to Perpignan from Lyon. Before this, I had to travel with transfers and spend 5 hours.
Secondly, the train is fast. The carriages are very comfortable, there is Wi-Fi, power sockets and friendly staff.
I recommend!

Madrid to Segovia in 3 hours

Just went from my hotel in Madrid to Segovia using Renfe. Took over 3 hours. Will never use Renfe again but will rent cars. What is the use of a fast train, if it takes over 30 minutes to get to the station it leaves from, takes time to check bags through security, train leaves 30 minutes late. Segovia station is miles from city. You may wait 30 minutes for bus into town, which takes another 20 minutes to get you there.

ppl who hate ppl

ppl who hate ppl.
it’s so freezing in the train. i asked several times to change temperature, one man changed it, but after 30 min they put the fridge ON again and refuse to change, saying it’s automatic, even tho it’s not, coz another man already fixed it before. the steward is lying and being annoyed by simple ask. and i’m going on comfort class. this is not comfort. and not welcomed. and not professional. 0/10 for making passenger freezing.

Recently took the train from Barcelona…

Recently took the train from Barcelona to Valencia in the so called comfy section. Absolutely disappointed and disgusted with the service which there was none and the bathrooms OMG filthy and no hand towels and this was at the start of the trip. Like other trains that I’ve experienced you usually get a courtesy beverage coffee/tea or water and a local newspaper . Along with that a menu is provided in the seat pouch to order food . Waste of money to upgrade to comfy because no extra services are provided. Will NOT be taking this train for the next 3 weeks through Spain and will resort to flying .

No water to wash your hands- Disgusting

No water to wash your hands on train, no sanitary towels for hands either. Coffee machines with no cups. This train doesn’t even have a cafeteria.

Used to love the train from Malaga to Madrid but the train conditions are getting worse every time.

For this price and bad conditions I will definitely be flying in the future . This is disgusting 🤢

Fly and use courier service.

Fly and use courier service.

We got charged 150 euro ($a225) for luggage from alicante to Madrid. that was free coming from Madrid to alicante. You use the train to remove luggage hassles and you only allowed carry on luggage. Mistake

We priced door to door courier service and it was 15 euro per case, half the price.

Iryo is much better service and luggage allowance. Otherwise fly and use courier service.

Renfe is the cheap airlines of trains. Fly or use someone else

Very bad experience with Renfe

Very bad experience with Renfe, on 15 august. We wanted to spend a day in Tarragona, going by a Renfe train from Barcelona and back on the same day. Nobody told us anything about the incident on the railways, in English or French, so we remain in our train for hours, stopped in a station, then the train left but stopped after only a few stations. Then we went by bus, than again by train, so our journey to Tarrago lasted more than 5 hours. Soon, we had to return to Barcelona and we repeated the bad experience. Finally, we arrived in Barcelona after midnight, by taxi on the last part of the trip because there was no train in the station where the bus let us, for more than 1 hour. No communication at all. We bought the tickets online, a day before. We couldn't ask the money back for the return trip on the automatic form, I don't know why.

Never had such a bad experience!!!

Never had such a bad experience! Horrible!! Never take this train! From Altafulla to Barcelona is normally 1h… me this one over 4h (!) without communication! No one can speak English or is willing to help you!! On the way back to Altafulla, no train showed up in Sants!! Again without any communication!! Service in the station is extremely unfriendly and again cannot speak English! In an international city this is the least you expect!! Out of desperation I had to spend the night in a hotel!

Never had worse customer service experience

I have never experienced a worse customer service/ help online, on the phone AND physically at the station as with Renfe. Extremely rude and when the answer is unknown the Spanish temper takes over. Complete unwillingness to actually help with any issues and I was being sent from one to the other dead end. Even the manager at the Madrid Pt. Atocha desk can't handle her emotions nor is there any willingness to understand a non Spanish speaking traveler.

Interracial seat reservation

Only way to book seat reservations is at ticket office with interracial. Waiting time is hours… unbelievable bad service in this digital world. Change fast Renfe. If you want people to actually take the train for distance travel, make it easy

Rubbish website, ordinary trains.

i have to say i really hate Renfe's website, and where i can, i prefer to use trainline to buy Renfe tickets.
this time, i had to buy tickets for a group of 6 of us, and it was very time consuming. The page would refresh then i would have to re insert all the specific passenger details again, this happened 3 times.
We Travelled to Segovia (wonderful town) but due to the bus, we missed our train back to Madrid. We got to Segovia station and the ticket person said we could change our tickets (Saw our distress) and directed us to the Renfe office. We went, they refused to change our tickets and we had to pay a premium rate for a one way ticket. So, terrible service, terrible trains terrible system, Even the ticket guy had to enter our 6 traveller details which all in all took about 15 minutes. Outdated, and probably losing lots of money. when i can, i avoid using Renfe.
