The most stressful rental experience…

The most stressful rental experience ever and I haven’t even picked up the car yet. I won’t bore you with the details but I am picking up the car tomorrow and the latest affront was an email asking for a ‘peace of mind’ payment to cover a refund if:
- the rental office is out of cars
- the rental office is closed (and you sent proof)
How would I need to pay for a refund for this???
Please RUN AWAY if this company ever pops up in your feed. It’s been a litany of issues since the get-go. I am stressed out to the max with their messing. DO NOT BUY.

It's just a scam company by the looks…

It's just a scam company by the looks of it. I should have checked Trustpilot.

We paid, but nobody turned up, and they answered our initial emails saying they were resolving it, but just stopped answering and kept our money. They've ignored every email since.

No support at the critical moment and no accountability after facilitating an impossible booking

I booked a car through RentCarla for ClickRent at Barcelona Airport.

The platform allowed a booking for 22:00, which matched my flight arrival time (21:50). However, due to a small flight delay, we arrived shortly after and found ourselves completely without access to the rental.

There was no functioning customer support at the moment we needed help:

- No emergency line answered
- No immediate assistance option
- No alternative solution provided in real time

We were left stranded at the airport at night.

At that point, RentCarla had facilitated a booking that was clearly not operationally supported, yet offered no solution when the issue became critical.

At this point, it was 00:00 and we were left with only two options:

- Lose a non-refundable night of accommodation 1h30 away from Barcelona and pay for an extra last-minute hotel night in the city, losing a full day of our holiday
OR
- Rent a car immediately at the airport at a heavily inflated last-minute price due to lack of alternatives

We had no choice but to take the second option, resulting in over €600 in unexpected additional costs.

Only the next day did RentCarla respond, stating that they had no responsibility for the situation because the rental provider was closed. This was communicated by Sarah and Mert Aktas (Head of Costumer Experience), without any resolution, compensation, or accountability.

This raises important questions:

- How can a booking be confirmed without operational safeguards for delays?
- How can a “marketplace” allow airport rentals that are not actually available at arrival time?
- How can there be no real-time emergency support when customers are stranded abroad?

I would recommend extreme caution when using aggregator platforms like this without verifying real-world pickup conditions and emergency support availability.

Most disappointing experience I have…

Most disappointing experience I have ever had. Received confirmation emails, made confirmation phone calls and the day before I was to pick up a car things totally blew up. Reservation in their system showed 5/14 even though my confirmation emailed showed 6/14. After several phone calls, I was told there would be a car available on 6/14 at 10am. While pulling into the pickup location, I received a call telling me there were no cars available and the rep did not offer any help at all. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!!!

Added ineligible company discount, promised to fix, then blocked my number

I had booked 4 cars through them over the last 6 months or so with no issue. Then a month ago I booked a car and came into Avis to pickup. I was told a company discount was applied which I was not eligible for so the price went up. I paid and called Carla's customer service number. I was told to send in the information and they would review and they would forward this info to the team to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Then I booked a minivan for about 350.00. They took 30.15 upfront and I went to pickup the car. I was AGAIN told there was a company discount applied and this time the price skyrocketed to over 800.00 when I was expecting to pay 308. I immediately sent in the proof by email. I tried to reach them for days and finally got an agent that told me she would expedite it.

6/1 I reached an agent again to ask when I can expect the refund as this was now close to 2 weeks. She told me the next day. Instead, on 6/2 they refunded just the 30.15 they took.

I had signed up to Carla Plus prior to these two bookings since I rent a lot and one piece it says "VIP Support". Well, I will tell you that since 6/1, I have called, emailed even left a review on Google Play store stating I am still owed almost 400 dollars. They responded to email and mention Anna, which I did with all information necessary to review. No response.

I called over and over again to try and reach someone. No response. Just rings for a bit then voicemail which never gets returned. This morning I found out they have blocked my number. I called on a Google Voice number and got through.

It's very clear they used discounts to push down the price to get me to book, then when confronted with the proof have decided to ignore it. I have tried every possible way to get in touch and it's clear they have no interest in fixing this.

If you do decide to use Carla, I would recommend calling where they book you and confirm there are no company discounts or any possible restrictions prior to picking up. That way at most you lose out on a small amount rather than hundreds.

Very disappointing experience bad service

Very disappointing experience. They kept my money and replaced it with restricted credit that is almost impossible to use without paying extra. Misleading policies and poor customer service. I would not recommend this company at all

These people are complete thugs and a scum, I made a reservation on the 12th of March and upon realizing that there was no car available after speaking to the supplier, I immediately canceled my reservation and went on to hire from a different agent.They have been ignoring my emails to refund me over 176 euros and only responded to me after 3 months to tell me that I wont be getting a refund.Do not trust !!!!!! them. They are dishonest and should be brought to light.

AVOID Price Scam! Waste of time.. end prices are 50% more than advertised.

AVOID! SCAM!!! The app sends multiple notifications with low prices, only to display a final price that is £300 more expensive for optional extras that are included as standard with other suppliers. Notifications are sent multiple times a day as emails and notifications from the app. Ultimately misrepresentative on prices. e.g. I booked a car with everything included for 13 days at a total of £580, Carla quoted £480 but at check out displayed a total price of £780... Generic bad replies reviews.

Horrendous.

We booked a family holiday with our children and grandchildren in Portugal to celebrate my 60th birthday.
We booked and paid for 2 people carriers in November for May.
We had great difficulty locating the transport to the off site location and when we got to collect the people carriers the company advisers we were too late and they had been re rented to other parties.
Carla have been unhelpful and uninterested.
We had 4 children under 3 and 7 adults. We had to find transportation at 10pm to our rented home 40 miles away.
We are out of pocket for a significant amount.
Think before using this firm.

No responsibility for their mistakes

When I arrived at the airport, I was informed that the booking submitted by Carla incorrectly identified me as a United States citizen/resident who I am not. at no point during the booking process was I asked to confirm or provide US citizenship or residency details.

As a result of the incorrect information transmitted Carla, Europcar refused to honour the original reservation. Europcar staff further confirmed that they were unable to amend the nationality information because they did not have access to modify the third-party booking data.

Because I urgently required the vehicle, I had no practical alternative but to enter into a new reservation at the prevailing same-day rate. Although Europcar agreed to apply a discretionary discount after discussions with management, the final amount I was forced to pay was substantially higher than the original agreed rental cost.
Carla is a Turkey based company and there is no way to make them responsible for any loss their actions might cause. Be careful. Sometimes it’s better to pay a bit more for w peace of mind.

Do not use this Company!
I am a wheelchair user and booked a car from Bergamo airport via Carla.
The car we hired was on site according to the app. I also paid the higher insurance rate including breakdown cover etc. At no point were we told that our car hire company wasn't called Carla and that the pick up point involved a transfer in a van to a dilapidated carpark off site.
The company that had our booking demanded an additional fee in excess of £200.00 for insurance to release the car. I explained the cover I'd already paid for but they refused to accept it and therefore refused me the car.
We were left stranded away from the airport with luggage and wheelchair!
Carla refused my refund request and have ignored my further emails.

Pay $87 for a prepaid rental which suppose to go towards the rental. Enterprise didn’t have any records of it. Called customer service but aren’t 24/7. Horrible company they really suck.

I booked a rental car through Carla…

I booked a rental car through Carla that was supposed to be fulfilled by Budget Rental Car at Reagan National Airport.

When I went to pickup my car I was turned away because Budget would accept debit cards for security deposit. Only credit cards are accepted.

Carla never told me I needed a credit card and in fact Carla told me debit cards were accepted. I had already paid Carla $112 so I asked for a refund.

Thus far, Carla has refused to refund me for the car I was not able to rent.

If course I will never use Carla again. I will go directly to the company that is actually supplying the car.

Massive letdown, I had booked car hire for 5 days on their platform for £128 through Europcar.
They took the deposit and sent me a confirmation email.
On the day I turned up at Europcar and they had no such car reservation for me.
Europcar said it was my problem to take up with Carla car rental.
Flabbergasted at this and being told if I wanted a car they could offer a small car for twice the price.
As I was going away I had no other option but to take the car.
I then contacted Carla rental and got nothing but voicemail leave a message.
So I emailed them with all the details, and the new car rental contract I had to take at double the price.
No apology at all they just said the problem wasn’t theirs, nothing wrong with the booking and as a gesture of goodwill they would refund me the deposit I had prepaid!!! What a joke, they take no responsibility at all even with all the proof that the issue was on their end and they hadn’t passed on the booking to Europcar.
Disgusting service I will never use them again, they shouldn’t be able to treat customers like this.
Why isn’t someone doing something to get rid of these dodgy trading companies???
Also Europcar are just as bad, if your going to use these 3rd party companies to sell car hire you also need to take responsibility for bookings that go wrong.
In the end I’m the customer and after using them in the past they are not 3 times the original costs they used to charge and will never use them either.

Absolutely terrible experience with the Carla app.
I booked a car for $70.56 and ended up paying $211.84
I reserved a rental for a price clearly shown in the app, and when it was time to actually get the car, suddenly the price was almost THREE TIMES higher. Not because of some mistake on my side — they completely changed the booking terms after the reservation was already confirmed.
This was not a small extra fee or something hidden in fine print. The service I received was completely different from what I agreed to and paid for when I made the booking.
By the time they told me about the new price, I had almost no choice because my travel plans were already set. I basically got trapped into paying way more than expected.
I spent more than two weeks trying to solve this with Carla support before writing this review. They kept avoiding responsibility and never properly fixed the issue.
You should be able to trust the price and terms shown when booking. With Carla, apparently you can’t.
Very misleading company and a horrible experience overall.
STAY AWAY.
