It cost me about $300 a month more. And after I canceled, "it takes at least 30 days for it to be activated" - another $230 over. Buyer beware. (Customer service is great but can't do ANYTHING about... See more

Biggest scammers
i don't even know how we started using their services they have stolen around $1200 of mine and i called them to stop giving me their service and they took a long time just cancelling their service.
Sike Mike of Residents Energy SCAM
First off I do NOT have Residents Energy don’t know how they got my number but. I had a missed call from Mike saying it was important. So I googled the number and found this review page with everyone feeling the same way I do like this is a scam. He called from a 779# but in the message leaves a 681# to call back on. If that’s not a scam I don’t know what is. Try again Sike Mike.
Not Trusting Residents Energy One Bit
Why does it seem like all of the random positive reviews about this company might just be someone from there posting them. All of them are like a promotion on how great the service was and how they are saving so much money. Everyone one else seems to have a very similar bad experience with this company and how they go about with their service and high rates. They are not even accredited by the BBB!
I had a call from them, they left a message and stated how I needed to call them back because it was URGENT! Who does that? And all they want to do is try to sell you something. Bad sales ethics and don't seem to care about consumers at all, especially based on everyone else's shared experiences that are posted here.
i dont even have residents energy and…
i dont even have residents energy and they harass me everyday from out of state phone numbers.
Resident Energy Scam
Found out after examining my bill Resident Energy has been charging me for months. My electric and gas bill are higher than they initially were not lower. I never got a package from you explaining that my bill would be higher. My bill is higher than it was normally by PSE&G. You are definitely scamming me. I’m Not paying you a penny for service I didn’t ok.
Deceptive Sales Agents
The company's Sales Agent knocks on your door. Lies to you that your current provider is going to stop providing energy for you, and you MUST sign a contract with them. If you refuse to sign or ask for more time, the salesperson becomes angry and acts like you are wasting his time!
My friends had the same experience. I'm going to share my experience with the university lawyers, so they can stop this fraud in a town with so many international students that are unaware of the regulations in the USA.
I've done research and it turns out…
I've done research and it turns out that this company is a scam. The caller Mike, sounds uneducated and unsure of whether he'll be able to sell their bogus services to anyone. At this point, I'm sick of FAKE MIKE calling about this UNIMPORTANT matter. I'm just saving all the phone logs and recorded messages of the dummy and waiting for the opportunity to report him and the entire company. This is ridiculous. Give up Mike of Residents Energy You look and sound STUPID. Keep calling and leaving messages. PLEASE DO. I could use the evidence.......
Coercive and manipulative tactics used door to door
Two "supposed" representatives from Residents Energy were walking door to door in my neighborhood in Queens NY today trying to sign people up to their service using extremely coercive and manipulative tactics. When I asked them to take no action, they replied that they would have to sign me up for a higher energy service. Upon hearing this, I told them I simply wanted them to leave, upon which they replied that they'd have to block my energy service. Glad I didn't fall for this scam, but I worry for the elderly and trusting who might be swayed by these aggressive scam artists.
A pyramid of dishonesty
They sent someone to my moms house and the guy said he worked for ComEd and was there to give her a bill overcharge reimbursement. He then proceeded to sign her up unbeknownst to her all under the false claim he worked for ComEd and was only there to give a refund. If you call their main number trying to leave feedback or get help when you choose the option on the directory for issues all you get is a five question survey and then it disconnects. Only way to talk to someone is to lie and press the option saying you’re calling to sign up for their services. Also, when asking more info on the specific person that scammed my mother or the subcontractor he worked for, Residential energy said that info was not to be shared.
Residents Energy better catch a wake up call if they are legit - which i'm sure they're not!
The "company" (scam artists) Resident Energy is becoming a real pain in the backside! The call me persistently and leave the same message everyone is getting below - This Mike from Resident Energy, can you give me a call back, it's important". I can't tell you how many of the flipping calls i receive on a daily basis. and i block the number every time and then 2 hours later, i receive ANOTHER CALL FROM MIKE FROM RESIDENTS ENERGY! Does anyone have any ideas as to how to report this to anywhere if there is indeed a company called residents energy because they should be ashamed of themselves if they are legit. which i highly doubt they are

Same as others. This is not the number showing on caller ID. That number is 618-732-4437. Probably spoofed.

This is a garbage company trying to scam everyone. Their salesperson just straight-up lies to you, and have you sign up for residents energy
Scam - Slam the door in their faces
During a recent encounter (4/20/23) with a door-to-door sales agent (I have the agents information) representing Residents Energy, I was deceived into signing up with them as my energy supplier. The agent claimed to be verifying that I had access to "clean energy" and requested my current utility account number and my signature to verify her visit and prevent additional agents from returning. She prevented me from reviewing what I was signing up for by personally clicking through the terms and making selections on my phone. This appears to be a fraudulent tactic to trick people into signing up, and the agent used deceitful means to accomplish this. Additionally, she wore a badge and carried around a chart from my utility as if she worked for my utility company.
Signed upScam don’t fall for it
Signed up, and paying $.20 more per thermal unit that I was with my previous supplier. Tried calling, and was put on hold for over a half an hour because of “high call volume”
Scam, don’t fall for it. Even when you try to cancel they put you on hold and you can’t get through to anyone
I was told several lies.
I was told I'd be put on a fixed rate, but got some bullcrap variable. Bill tripled. Huge scam. I have contacted RE and was told two bill periods to be put back. Another lie. My Illinois provider says they have two days.
