Brand New Free Boiler!

I had a free new boiler installed on the 14th November 2024. I was a little nervous as I thought it was too good to be true. I nearly cancelled the whole thing. David the engineer arrived at 8am followed by the guys for the loft insulation and extractor fans. They all worked very hard and within the given timeframe. Communication from Melissa was excellent. Many thanks again to Kevin & Gerry

The first guy who came round to look at…

The first guy who came round to look at my loft told me my old loft insulation would be removed and new insulation replaced. When surveyor came round to take photographs of loft and also radiators in whole house including windows and doors, also repeated, old loft insulation would be removed before new insulation installed. I signed consent forms and when receptionist phoned to arrange date for top up loft insulation I was not pleased I had been misinformed. The manager Andy phoned and told me they would get their fingers rapped if they disposed and renewed loft insulation. I therefore cancelled loft insulation, just wonder if this company still managed to receive the money from the government to say my job had been completed, as I have read similar instances of different companies not actually carrying out the work once forms have been signed. Who is to say, that these companies are actually being paid through the government scheme for work they haven't done.

Hi - thank your for your feedback. As per our records, your property was surveyed for a loft insulation top up through the GBIS Scheme. I do apologise that there was a miscommunication at the beginning of your process regarding loft insulation top up vs. removal. Under ECO 4 and GBIS, we are unable to remove pre-existing insulation which is confirmed in one of the documents we must get customers to sign. This was again confirmed by our manager once the miscommunication became apparent when we tried to book you in for a loft top up.

As an installation company, we absolutely cannot claim funding for installations which we have not carried out. To claim funding, we must submit a substantial amount of evidence for our work to show we have met PAS 2035 and Trustmark standards, as well as working in line with Ofgem guidelines which is all verified by an independent Trustmark Coordinator. This is all set-in place to prevent fraud. Therefore, claiming funding would be virtually impossible for work we haven’t completed.

I am sorry we were unable to go ahead with your loft insulation in this case, however, we must work to the guidance set out by Ofgem.

Worst experience ever!

Worst experience ever!
The tradesmen failed to use dust sheets over flooring and work tops. Flooring was damaged, worktops damaged, personal item broken. After several visits they decided to repair flooring, which wasn’t fully repaired, only part of it. They declined to repair work tops, so now I have to pay for this myself. They didn’t even bother to offer money towards the worktops, nor did they offer to replace the broken personal item. No reason given why they weren’t fixing the damage to work tops. After boiler was installed we were advised that rough casting to building would be done, after several emails about this they reluctantly decided to repair where was needing roughcasted, which isn’t exactly completed well, no doubt will need to pay to have this remedied myself too. Was advised prior to fitting that I may have to pay £200 for pipe work to boiler but this would be checked when fitter had arrived to fit new boiler, well he must have been magic, as he hadn’t even arrived at my door when Retrofit phoned wanting the money as the pipes would need upgraded. Have since noticed they have damaged my pvc ceiling in kitchen when removing old water tank, will I ask them to repair …… why bother!! as this company is not interested in customer service, is this due to the fact that my boiler was installed via the govt funding service and as the govt would have paid out regardless of their shoddy workmanship Retrofit wasn’t interested in any trail of damage that had been caused.
Watch out for the electrician as he installed the kitchen fan vented into my loft which would have eventually caused condensation / damp problems and again after several emails they agreed to vent it through the roof. Also, when water tank was removed I was advise electrical wires would be removed, well they’re still hanging around, hope they wires ain’t waiting on the electrician coming back, as reckon they will be hanging around for a long time, so even more financial cost to me to get these wires removed .
Will never recommend this company even if they were the last ones on earth.

UPDATE

Further to your response it appears you are blaming the customer for the damage to the kitchen.
I can confirm that there was no damage prior to your tradesmen being in my property and this damage was caused by said trades.
And would confirm the flooring was not just one scratch it was indeed 2 scratches and a large dent out the flooring.
Nobody mentioned that we wished the flooring and worktops to be renewed a simple repair would suffice, as you did with the flooring.
I am certainly not happy that as the customer you appear to be blaming me for the damage

Hi Lesley,

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. We value all customer reviews as they help us to continuously improve our services. After thoroughly reviewing the details of your feedback, we would like to provide some clarity on the situation.

Based on our records:
The property was attended by an independent monitoring company who inspects the technical aspects of all our work to ensure we comply with the strict regulatory standards of the ECO Scheme. During the inspection, the issue with the venting for the fan was discovered and this was booked to be rectified as soon as we received the report back.

Upon receiving the complaint regarding the scratch on the kitchen flooring and worktop, and damage to a fridge magnet (personal item), an internal investigation was carried out. Several visits to the property were arranged including a visit by senior management. The outcome of these visits combined with photographic evidence on the day of install and testimonies from our tradesmen lead us to conclude that the issues mentioned were not as a result of our tradesmen. However, while we did not accept liability for the issues mentioned, we want to ensure customers have a positive experience with our company. As a gesture of goodwill, we arranged for the section of flooring mentioned to be repaired. This was also when the roughcasting was booked in. It then became clear that the desired outcome of the complaint was for Retrofit Group to replace the entirety of the kitchen flooring and worktops or pay for the equivalent. While customer satisfaction is our top priority, this is simply not something we could do.

Regarding the gas line upgrade payment, our engineers have full access to the survey pictures of the property. From these pictures, they can usually determine what work is required and give a price for the gas line upgrade in advance. Not all properties require a gas line upgrade but where they do, it is necessary to comply with Gas Safe regulations. The engineer passes the information on to the office who contact customers to discuss. Customers are always made aware in advance of any potential costs and can cancel at any point.

We are disappointed that this has been a negative experience, however we stand by our integrity and our decision in this instance. Thank you again for your feedback.

Heating installation

Right from the moment workers arrived to fit new heating system, insulate my loft and install fans, nothing was a bother to them.
They faced many challenges in my home, mainly access to the 'flu for the boiler and also a very small hatch to install the insulation. However, they overcame each challenge without any complaints and acted in a very professional manner at all times. Because of the access issues they had to call on other colleagues to come and help, they were also great.
The person who installed the boiler took time to explain how to set the timing of the heating, how to change it and went through every setting with me, was able to answer my question with no hesitation.
After all work was completed, all rooms were cleared of any debris and cleaned and tidied.
I would definitely recommend this company and would certainly have them back again.
