Dear Ria Money Transfer Complaints Team,
I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding transfer reference UK495976710 made today at approximately 12:24 PM to Gayan C in Sri Lanka.
At the time I created and authorised the transfer, your website clearly displayed an exchange rate of 1.00 GBP = 458.250 LKR. Based on this rate, the total shown to me before submission for sending 289,600 LKR was approximately £636.87 including fees. I have screenshots proving this was the rate displayed before I pressed submit.
However, after the transfer was processed, I checked my bank account and discovered that Ria had instead taken £731.22 from my account, which is nearly £100 more than what was shown to me and agreed at the point of payment.
I then noticed the transfer had been processed using a completely different exchange rate of 1.00 GBP = 398.720 LKR, despite this not being the rate displayed when I authorised the transaction.
No promo codes, discounts, or special conditions were involved. The amount taken from my account does not match what was presented to me before payment authorisation.
I attempted to cancel the transfer within approximately one minute of realising the issue, however your system did not allow cancellation. I then immediately contacted customer support and no action was taken.
This is completely unacceptable and appears to be a misleading and unfair transaction under UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.
I have already informed my bank regarding this matter and action is now being planned to recover the excess money taken from my account if this issue is not resolved urgently.
I therefore require:
• An immediate refund of the excess amount charged beyond the agreed amount shown before payment
• Written confirmation that this complaint has been formally escalated and investigated
I expect a full response If this matter is not resolved appropriately, I will continue escalation through my bank and the relevant UK consumer protection authorities.

The service is good and flawless. They just need to stop charging $1 to long time customers. This is a sign of coorportate greed
