I made a bid on a Chanel bag
I made a bid on a Chanel bag, the seller didn’t reply, the email account they provided wasn’t active then i saw that they are reselling the bag again on Ricardo . So I contacted Ricardo and told them I didn’t feel good about paying all that money because it looked like fraud. The guy told me to still pay for the bag after hearing my concerns . The seller decided to cancel the purchase and i accepted. The next day Ricardo blocked my account .
Ricardo does not respect its own rules...
Ricardo does not respect its own rules or basic privacy principles.
We reported a buyer’s review because our private surname is publicly visible in the feedback section and the review also contains serious accusations. In our opinion, this violates Ricardo’s own terms and also raises data protection concerns.
We contacted Ricardo twice. The first reply did not solve the issue, and the second message was not answered at all. It is very disappointing that a platform like Ricardo allows private personal data to remain publicly visible in a review, while doing nothing to properly review or remove it.
I am sure Ricardo would not appreciate it if I publicly posted the full name of the person I communicated with at their support department. In the same way, we do not appreciate that our surname remains visible in a public rating.
Unfortunately, it seems that normal communication with customer support does not help. The only realistic next step appears to be legal action.
Very disappointing experience.
Problem perfectly and promptly fixed
I want to warn everyone against this…
I want to warn everyone against this scam platform! I was scammed twice. I notified the "customer service" which is non-existent. At the end they protected the scammer and I never got my money back.
They charge 12% of the sold goods value, ridiculous!
Monopolists
In my view, Ricardo is an outrageously monopolistic business that should face a class action lawsuit for their exorbitant fees and taking advantage of having dominated the market. Other sites such as Tutti are now also owned by them. Their 12% fees for selling most products are simply absurd and some of the highest in Europe. They offer nothing in exchange and if you read into their terms and conditions, their "buyer protection" is mostly bogus - the rules are written in such the way that they give them almost every legal way of sneaking their way out of the deal and leaving you on ice when you get scammed.

Just 30 minutes later, I had already fallen victim to no fewer than two attempts at fraud.
Even just once would have been enough.
In my opinion, this site is far too open to fraud.
I cancelled my membership straight away.

Lost trust in the platform
I will not use Ricardo again for buying. As a seller myself, I always try to be honest and find fair solutions quickly if issues arise. Unfortunately, as a buyer, I felt completely unprotected on this platform.
Despite paying fees and an additional buyer protection fee, Ricardo provided little practical support and mainly advised me to seek legal insurance (“Rechtsschutz”). Every action required the seller’s agreement, even in a clearly problematic situation. I was not able to request contractual fulfilment without having my own lawyer. The platform doesn’t provide any legal protection.
This experience seriously damaged my trust in the platform. There are too many unreasonable sellers trying to scam you and insufficient buyer protection.
Kundenservice top
I have bought a lot of times through ricardo, only had one issue which was solved rather quickly and I got my money back. The service is great!
Ricardo keeps your money when you close…
Ricardo keeps your money when you close your account. I sold an item, the buyer never paid, and it took nearly a month to get the auction cancelled. Ricardo retained my fee as a “credit” — which becomes worthless if you close your profile. I requested a refund of CHF 5 multiple times, citing unjust enrichment under Swiss contract law (OR Art. 62–67). Their final response: they don’t refund small amounts. They are essentially keeping your money and calling it policy. Consider alternatives before selling on this platform.”
From a great platform to a major hurdle – Very disappointed
I have been using this platform for years, and it deeply saddens me to see such a sharp decline in its quality. Since the mandatory "seller and buyer protection" was introduced, sales have plummeted.
Before these changes, I never encountered any issues: the platform was smooth and allowed for easy multiple deliveries. Now, the system has become rigid and costly. The 12% commission is excessive—comparable to credit card fees—and is literally driving users away.
Furthermore, this "money protection" feels more like a facade than actual security. If someone intends to deceive or cause trouble, they can still do so quite easily. There are many other ways to protect both parties without suffocating sellers with high fees and complicated procedures.
If the management continues down this path, I will be forced to close my online shop. At this point, I cannot recommend this platform to anyone. Riccardo and his team should take a step back, lower the commissions, and return to the streamlined, user-friendly experience this platform offered a few years ago. A real shame.
Seller beware
Seller beware
I had a very disappointing and stressful experience using Ricardo.ch. This was the first time I sold an item on the platform, and I trusted it to provide a safe environment for transactions. Unfortunately, I was scammed and ended up losing CHF 1,050 directly from my bank account.
The situation was particularly alarming because the buyer’s account had apparently been hacked. I then received a WhatsApp message containing a link that perfectly impersonated Ricardo—it was so
convincing and professionally done, making it extremely difficult to detect as fraud.
What is most concerning is that the entire interaction stemmed from activity on the Ricardo app, yet there were no clear warnings, alerts, or safeguards to flag potential fraud or suspicious behavior. For a platform of this size, I expected much stronger user protection, especially for sellers who may not be familiar with increasingly sophisticated scam tactics.
When I reached out for support, the response felt generic and unhelpful—almost as if this situation is not uncommon. There was no real assistance or accountability, which only added to the frustration and financial loss.
I strongly urge Ricardo.ch to improve its security measures, implement better fraud detection, and provide meaningful customer support. Based on my experience, I would advise others to be extremely cautious when using this platform
Scammers everywhere on Ricardo
I was scammed on Ricardo! Be careful and they did not want to help me afterwards. After many emails they still have not contacted me by phone. Will never use again - vinted is much better!
Do not trust this site at all - 2 purchases from "fraudulent accounts"!!
2 of my items were "bought" less than 5 mins after I put them for sale. I thought it was very encouraging. Straight away, they contacted me and put pressure on me to send the goods, saying they had paid. I never got the money so never sent the goods. After 3 days for one purchaser and 1 week for the other one, their accounts were blocked because they were fraudulent. I can not trust this site and removed myself from it.
I had to pay for a sale that I didnt do…
I had to pay for a sale that I didnt do over ricardo. Also they never notified me and then I heard from the inkasso office.
Asked them to cancel it but they refuse as it was older than 60 days. Obviously as I never got notified!

Absolutely do not buy through this…
Absolutely do not buy through this platform! There are no rules or protections for buyers!
Be careful when buying.
If seller do a fraud and sell you something that has hidden malfunction without listing it in the ad, Ricardo does not protect you. They tell you to deal directly with seller. I am not using this again.
Even 1 star is too much
Even 1 star is too much.
I listed an item for sale on the Anibis website, and Ricardo got involved, telling me I hadn't sold it, even though the item had already been removed from the Anibis listings. It's a simple way to charge commissions that shouldn't be paid.
