I don't get the negative ratings.

I don't get the negative ratings.
Ok, it's not that sleak as Komoot, but for me, user type Average Joe, it is the best option with regard to planning multi-day rides, to coordinate other riders in events, and so on on.

Critique is to give concerning the really poor German translation and some minor inconsistencies in the interface. To end on positive notes, which IMHO that are well earned: the support is fast and reliable and the development of the service is visibly making progress.

BUYER BEWARE

Be careful signing up for this service. The $79 fee is NON REFUNDABLE, a fact buried deep into their website. If you don't like it or need it for a full year, it's tough luck.

I’m extremely disappointed with…

I’m extremely disappointed with RideWithGPS.com and feel compelled to warn others about my experience. The 5-star reviews you see? I strongly believe they’re fake. I was personally approached by someone claiming to be the founder, Cullen, who offered me a developer position in exchange for posting glowing 5-star reviews. That’s beyond unethical—it’s downright shady! I refused to play along, and I’m glad I did.

The service itself is a complete letdown. The interface is clunky, the features are unreliable, and the overall experience is frustrating at best. From constant glitches to poor customer support, it’s clear this platform doesn’t live up to the hype. Save your time and money—there are far better options out there. Avoid RideWithGPS at all costs!

Data stealing at Tour d’Utrecht

For the Tour d’Utrecht today, 6 july 2025 the sponsoring of RWGPS means you have to registrate at RWGPS for ‘free’ first, before receiving the GPS track. Which implies giving your data and choosing a payment, with the note that you can stop within 7 days, only then it’s free. There was no warning at forehand when buying a ticket for the ride. It’s pure and simple a dirty way of collecting free data from a couple of thousand ingnorant participants.

One of the worst route planning tool I…

One of the worst route planning tool I have encountered, try and make a small modification to a route or move a section and you end up all-over the map figuratively and literally speaking. It is so counter intuitive and waste of time.

This app is horrible

This app is horrible. I had a problem trying to get it to stay linked with my Garmin. I returned my Garmin with this problem and other issue I had with it. I paired ride with gps with my iPhone and had issues with it also. I wouldn’t track my location with plenty of signal strength. I talked to ridewithgps customer support and not even 1 month of use they will not refund me. This company sucks. Trek offers 30 days no questions asked returns. Just remember if you buy this app you’re stuck with it.

I feel like I must be using a different…

I feel like I must be using a different app to other users here, it’s SO hard to create a route. As you click from point to point the app takes the most bizarre routes between the points, sometimes adding miles, sometimes just throwing in random little detours down otherwise straight roads. And don’t get me started on the difficulty of moving start and finish points on rides you might find in the “explore” section. Just about impossible. It’s just so hard to use. Not at all user friendly. Highly frustrating.
Finally, just spent about 40 minutes trying to create a route in the app and at the end I just cannot figure out how you save it?!!

Excellent fast online help

I used Ride with GPS for my Tour Aotearoa ride, Cape Reinga to Bluff. The App is very easy to use and worked through my phone or helmet. The maps were ideal for publication later. The after-sales service is hands down the best service ever from any other App.
It made this 3,000km ride so much easier with a reliable mapping system.

started with the annoying banjo sounds

the annnoying banjo sounds first drove me crazy and the lack of support was seriously bad my first premium account. i deleted this in Vietnam when it got me lost in heavy jungles and the direction banjo was a a constant distraction. so i deleted it after trying to navigate Hanoi.
a friend urged me to give it another try. so! I'm planning a 1000 mile west coast tour. there is a ferry i need to take and restart on the other bank. I spent hours and hours trying to research this simple action. Most help videos are 4-6 years old.
awful support, ancient videos, bad app.

There is literally no reason to pay for…

There is literally no reason to pay for this app. I started a trial and was not impressed. Thought I'd cancelled it but ride says I didn't. I guess it's possible I didn't. Either way, the £50 I paid gets me turn by turn navigation, which I had anyway on my wahoo. It's absolutely mental that the makers of this diabolical app think it's worth more than Strava.
Not only is the interface insanely ugly, but it's overpriced and they rip off UK customers by charging them more for exactly the same product. I predict Ride will be done in a couple of years as Strava will incorporate more of its functionality.
Do not waste your money.
