a let down
experienced trainers, however behaviour/conduct of some ruin an otherwise credible business.
construction industry aren't attracting youth, and it's obvious why: the unpleasant, mainly older, workers outshine the good ones. this is taken stock of by the latter, but it seems inconvenient/a nuisance for them to call out the problematic behaviours.
This has to change.
I can't imagine construction/trades/transport being a worthy prospect for a younger generation that will struggle to shine without proper encouragement. Proper encouragement meaning leading by example. Instead of focusing on the work and being friendly, i saw alot of needless peacocking, assuming behaviours (talking about inability of other candidates- 'not fit to lace the boots etc', unsolicited convo r.e. private lives, alongside other topics, arguably irrelevant r.e. the business's finances; it would be wrong for me to bemoan a worker fretting over their job security, but considering the retro-feel ubiquitous amongst staff and the premises, it wouldn't surprise me to hear they were in financial difficulties).
I experienced straight-up abusive behaviour: i was called a 'dafty' during my technical test- hardly the tactful input needed to keep ur head in a difficult situation.
all-round negative experience and i doubt i'll go back.
