Exceptional Service at Riverside Volvo Hull!
Exceptional Service at Riverside Volvo Hull!
After months of searching for the perfect XC90, we finally found one online at Riverside Volvo Hull.
From the moment we first enquired, the service was outstanding. We were immediately connected with Jack Smith, who was incredibly helpful and patient throughout the entire process. I must have sent him over 30 emails with endless questions about the car's features, condition and different payments options and he answered every single one with promptness and patience.
We got an excellent deal on a nearly new XC90, along with a fair part-exchange price for our old one. We originally arranged for delivery but had to reschedule for collection due to our children's activities. Jack was so understanding and quickly arranged for us to collect the car the very next day, a Saturday.
Even when we hit traffic and arrived 30 minutes late, Jack was accommodating and greeted us warmly. He made our children feel welcome and started the handover process immediately. During the handover, our old car unexpectedly showed a fault, which was quite embarrassing for us. However, Jack and his manager, Jason, showed us genuine empathy and looked after us as if we had been long-time customers.
We've had some poor car-buying experiences in the past, but this time, we felt genuinely looked after and valued. The quality of service we received was worth the drive to Hull. Jack and Jason have restored our faith in good old-fashioned customer care. We have no hesitation in recommending Riverside Volvo Hull and will definitely be back.
Buying a car from riverside walkfield
THE Moment I entered, i was but at ease as a Motability customer, Its important, The sale was with a young professional, competent professional man,"Jack Hutton " excellent 👍 from the start, to the end there was no stress ,took his time to explain all about the car.
Lee was wonderful from the moment we…
Lee was wonderful from the moment we walked in to the showroom. He explained everything, kept in touch during the process. Was also very helpful when we collected the car.
Worst experience ever
Had an awful experience with the Hull store buying a car. It was ridiculously stressful from start to finish and shouldn't have been made so difficult!
We went through the initial finance documents and picked the car on a Sunday, as well as paying a deposit. We agreed to pick the car up the following Saturday due to working Full time.
On the Thursday, the salesperson called to arrange a collection time. He notified me that he was coming in on his day off so would 12pm be suitable. I requested an earlier time as we had plans. After a couple of seconds consideration, he responded with "thats fine, I'll have to get up early" which i thought was very unprofessional!
Fast forward to Friday AFTERNOON, I received a call from the salesperson who said I needed to complete some more forms online and send a photo of my driving licence before they closed at 5pm. I was at work at the time and wouldnt get home in time to do this. I was then told I would not receive the car unless I could do this! I explained that this was ridiculously unreasonable to give me such short notice for something so important.
30 minutes later, I got another call back saying if I couldnt provide the driving licence then I couldnt get the car but now I had until 6pm. After a short conversation about this, it turns out the email asking for this information came from the admin team which took them ALL WEEK to send. When I questioned how they would then have enough time to sort out their side of things within 30 mins of closing if it took them that long to send the email in the first place, I was told it would be ok.
I had to walk 50 minutes from work to get home and do this, which I explained on the phone which didnt give enough time. My partner had to leave work to pick me up so that I could get home faster so I could pick up the car the following morning.
On the Saturday morning we arrived to collect the car. What should have been a maximum of 20 mins turned into over 2 hours. To no fault of the dealership at all, this was issues with the finance company itself. I was meant to receive an email from the finance company with forms for me to complete which never came through. When I explained this to the dealership, another employee then asked for my phone and started looking through my emails, which I can only assume was to check I wasn't lying. Which again is massively unprofessional and considerably rude!
After a long wait time of the dealership being on hold with the finance company, they finally printed some forms for me to do manually. I signed them and asked for copies which I was told I would get. I then got another form to sign, which after I noticed was for another customer! That was the first GDPR breach!
A short while later, I asked for copies of the finance forms again, which I was told he would sort. Then once we were about to leave, I had to ask again to which he replied that the printer was broken. Not sure how he knew that if he was sat with us and it had worked to print the forms off!
As we were leaving, we asked if there should be anymore documents we should have as we were concerned we only had a direct debit agreement and a finance contract. He said no.
We then left and realised we had no warranty information, no service information, no owners manual, absolutely nothing for the car at all. When I called back up I was told I should have at least been given a new keeper green slip. Then 2 hours later, we noticed that the front and back screen washers didnt work which meant the car would have failed an MOT and was unsafe to drive!!
I called again to report this and ask why this wasn't checked and was told I had to wait for the salesperson to come back to work on Monday. Not sure why noone else couldnt help me with it!
On Monday we contacted Riverside on a few occasions trying to get this sorted as we shouldn't have even been sold the car with that fault. We were told we could take it in and they would have a look. We spoke to Rich who was the service manager and this is the only point that we actually felt had gone right. He was amazing and fixed it for us whilst we waited. He said the car was checked before it was sold and it was signed off to say that the washers had been checked and reported as working when they werent but sorted this out for us really quickly.
Since then, we've received all documentation that we needed but over the span of a few days and 2 members of their staff delivering them to our door due to the salesperson forgetting and not following the correct process. However, in one of the emails sent to me, they had sent me ANOTHER customers information which is GDPR breach number 2!!
This was a ridiculous process and so stressfull! I would completely AVOID. I will never buy from them again and advise everyone I know not to go there either.
Disappointing
I purchased my XC40 from this dealership and have to say that the aftercare has been very disappointing. The car was delivered to me (a great positive given I live an hour away from the dealership), however there was little handover and certainly no setting up of the apps etc. I was promised a full tank of petrol as part of the deal which didn’t happen. I fed this back and was then offered a boot liner or mats (I choose a boot liner), and was informed this would be posted the following Monday. It’s now over two weeks later and no boot liner has arrived. I’ve also had difficulty setting up the Volvo app (it wasn’t recognising my location). I was informed that the service desk would call back but I lost count how many times I chased this up and still didn’t receive a follow up call. My partner has purchased Volvos from a different dealership and we resorted to contacting them to help resolve the issue (who were very helpful). I’ve since found out that the 12v plug doesn’t work. I’m not even attempting to contact the dealership to resolve, I’ll take it to another Volvo Selekt. Overall I feel as soon as the sale was done they didn’t want to know. I expected more.

This is our third new car from Riverside SEAT in Hull. We've just changed to an automatic and they were very helpful, arranging a test drive, with supervision to get me used to driving it before I purchased.
Great service from Riverside Cupra
Approaching the end of a personal contract hire lease I was very satisfied with the Cupra leon I had as the model ticked all the boxes so wanted to lease a new one. I spoke to Jason Alsop sales manager and was immediately impressed by his knowledge and understanding of my requirements to find a new pch deal. Other dealers I spoke to constantly tried to push me down the route of pcp deals but not Jason. It was so refreshing to encounter someone in car sales who understood what I wanted and didn't try to push me towards other purchase methods. Throughout Jason was polite, informative and just a decent person. Would highly recommend Riverside Cupra and Jason in particular
