A number of parts of a larger order never made it. Upon the Rockauto request the needed evidence has been supplied ( missing-parts list / pictures of the shipped parts of that same order ) after which the customers-dpt. promised to solve the issue. Which never happened. Worst part of this is the fact that finally they don't even answer the mails. Total silence and obviously a case of " so sorry, goodbye ".
Underhanded Shipping Practices
I've done business with RockAuto on several previous occasions and have been mostly satisfied with the parts and service that I've received until the most recent order. I'm not one to write reviews but this experience demands that I warn all other prospective customers. Like I've read in a lot of the other critical reviews, things are great if you don't have a problem. If you do, all bets are off. My issue is a simple one. If I pay for expedited shipping, I expect to receive the order on the date that they say I'll receive it. Not three days later. I could have chosen standard shipping for that. I also expect to be reimbursed for that failure. When the part was finally delivered (3 days late), I tried to reach out to inquire about a shipping refund. No such luck as I was greeted with a message during the Returns/Problems process that states "We're sorry that the carrier wasn't able tp deliver your package by the date you needed (they left out "and paid us for). Transit times and "Receive by" dates are estimates by the carrier and, while usually accurate, are not guaranteed (so neither of us can recover shipping charges from the carrier)." What!? Nice of them to conveniently leave out this little disclaimer when you're paying for EXPIDITED SHIPPING. Sleezy and underhanded. Never again. They lost a customer for life. Buyer beware!

This place is something else!!! You order a part with a core charge, you get the part and decide to return the core. They charge you for shipping, the shipping is more than the core return!!!! So yes let me pay MORE for shipping that the actual core refund. I have never had a company charge for a core return, they send a return label with the part. Then "if" you need to make contact with someone, forget it! You have no way to talk to anyone.

Do not buy from this company. They have atrocious customer service and they ship products that are not packaged well. They do not care if they waste your time. I bought 2 radiators from them and both arrived damaged. The 1st one arrived with obvious damage before it was shipped, the 2nd time the damage happened enroute due to poor packaging. If you want to be back on the road, don't buy from RockAuto.com. They do not care about their customers or the products they ship.
Awesome Experience with Rock Auto!
I had a bad experience with another on-line part retailer and opted to try RockAuto.
In short, the bad experience retailer shipped me the wrong parts and made no attempt to provide me with the correct parts. Yes, they refunded my initial payment but did nothing for me on my costs to return ship the parts they promised would fit.
Onto Rock Auto...Ordered the parts and within days, I had my parts and did the install earlier today. No issues. Parts fit perfectly and are warrantied for 60,000 miles.
My first time experience with Rock Auto was a great experience with no complaints. I got what I paid for in a very timely manner.
You ask what I ordered?
I ordered replacement hood struts for my 2013 Audi A8 3.0 V-6. My local St. Paul Audi dealer wanted $480 for the parts and install.
I paid Rock Auto $35.20 and had both struts installed in 5 minutes.
Even if the struts fail in 2-3 years, I am still ahead of the game!
Will I shop Rock Auto again, you bet!

oh boy oh boy I'm glad I'm not the only one because when I had an issue with the product they sent me it obviously was wrong product but when I called them I was actually surprisingly able to get a hold of one person it was like I was talking to AI or was talking to a wall no sir it does look like exactly and I had to park next to it I sent them pictures and he kept on saying that this is the part I'm so long story short I had to pay for shipping to return it back which they took out of my amount and their shipping dates says I will get it let's say tomorrow afternoon I get it after 6 days if I pay extra to get it the next day which is like $100 extra I still get it 4 days after for the same amount and so these guys are savages they run it out of a grandpa garage this place is so messed up I'm glad I'm not the only one that ran into an issue because they rate our 1.9 out of five
They sent the wrong part - now it's our problem!
My husband needs a new brake pedal for his car. We did some research and decided a certain model brake pedal might work for his car. They didn't have exactly what we needed, but we thought it was worth a try. They didn't send what we ordered. They sent a completely different part. It was a round thing? So, we told them that they didn't send what we ordered. They asked what kind of car we have. We told them, and they said that the brake pedal isn't made for your car anyway, so it doesn't matter that they sent the wrong part. They said they wouldn't take it back because it isn't worth the shipping price. No refund, no return, no brake pedal. Would it have fit? We will never know.

I ordered a power steering pump and…
I ordered a power steering pump and reservoir from Rock Auto. I installed it and it failed to bleed. I ordered a second one and took it to Toyota to install. After installation it stopped working after 98 miles. I then had Toyota replace my entire power steering system, hoses, rack and pinion, pump and reservoir. I contacted RockAuto for refunds for both pumps and they refunded one, and there system gives you a run around on factory warranties. Now I’m stuck with a broken pump, no refund nd I tracked down management and they refused to 1acknowledge me. I will never buy from Rock Auto again!
Ordering from Canada
I've been ordering from Canada for over 10 years now. It's still cheaper than in Canada even with shipping. Great company, fast delivery. Can't complain
strut cap offset 180 degrees
After receiving struts from Rock Auto, left strut installed properly. When trying to install the right strut, realized the top cap that holds the spring was 180 degrees offset. Upon calling Rock Auto was informed that i could send it back and they could reship and that would take 10 days. i had the front end apart so I got a spring compressor and reclocked the cap 180 degrees. The spring compressor cost me $100.00

Bought a DEA / MARMON RIDE CONTROL engine mount, (for Nissan/ Renault) Absolute garbage, it was completely defective within 6 months. They're offering a return replacement as part of their warranty scheme, no refund. What a joke ripped off do not buy this brand from them.

It took 10 days to receive my order. Their shipping charges prices them out of my realm. A front crankshaft seal and a repair sleeve and 2 windshield wipers ... $28.97 standard shipping. I should not have done it and I won't do it again. I will buy local or Amazon.

rockauto is the best
rockauto is the best place to get parts for a reasonable price. they have a great selection from different manufacturers. anytime i have an issue with my car(s) i just on rockauto get what i need. yeah i have to pay for the shipping but i usually get it when they say i will and if i order early enough i get it a couple days earlier.
sure there isnt a phone number to call or a chat service but any time ive had an issue it was resolved. ive gotten wrong parts before and Ive ordered wrong parts before. any issue is resolved when you follow the instructs on the screen. its straight forward so there is no confusion.
all the auto parts place charge double sometimes triple in my area for what i can get on rockauto with shipping.
if i had to improve what theyre doing i would add a order qc department to help improve their order accuracy. other than that its my absolute favorite place to shop hands down.
Rockauto defective parts/parts that don't fit
Rockauto shipped me parts that didn't fit my vehicle even though they claimed it would on their website. Unfortunately the parts I ordered are crucial safety parts which means I'm stuck without a car.
You get what you pay for
Ordered a Walker catalytic converter/exhaust replacement from Rock Auto. For my vehicle, it is a one piece unit that is about 5ft long total. I am dinging Rock Auto on their piss-poor lack of packaging. No box, no nothing. Just wide open with shipping labels STUCK right to the unit, which will not come off, which will also need to burn off and cause potential flare-ups/odors until burned down sufficiently. At least they sealed off the cat opening to prevent honeycomb damage. Overall, buncha schmucks who did this - get a box made!!!
