We purchased a used 2010 Silver…
We purchased a used 2010 Silver Vauxhall insignia 2.0 CDTI from Rotherfield Car Sales Ltd on the 19th of July 2025. Within 24 hours the car developed issues going into gear. We reported this and followed their advice to book it into a local garage for inspection.
Before that appointment, the car stalled and we noticed a fluid leak. Rotherfield collected it on the 30th of July. Over the next week, there were delays while they attempted to check if the previous clutch/flywheel work (done in January of 2024 - by another garage) might still be under warranty - despite us having a warranty with them.
Initially, they told us the fault was with the slave cylinder, ordered a part, and booked it into another garage for replacement. A few days later, this changed to them saying the lines had been been bled, ''sludge'' was found, and the bite point was ''back to normal'' -no part would be replaced. We were offered the car back in this state or a refund.
Given the short time we had owned the car, the presence of sludge in fluid that had been replaced just last year, and the change in repair plan, we chose to reject the vehicle and take a full refund under our consumer rights.
While we appreciate that a refund was offered, the experience left us without transport for over a week, caused us additional costs and raised concerns about the handling of the repair process.
