Customer service DISGRACE

This company is truly one that does not care. Royal Carribean are too large and making too much money to care about what we think. My only suggestion is to continue to report any negative experiences, and there are many on trust pilot and product review to Fair Trading. Unfortunately, there call centre in the Phillipines is what we continue to encounter in APAC. Robotic, hopeless, useless and dismissive. They will continue to talk over you, refuse to put you through a supervisor, and are the most decietful bunch of unhelpful people. I booked interconnecting rooms, and I had the other party with me confirming this, yet they told me this was not the case. Wanting me to pay change fees to amend the booking. I contacted guest relations via email, with all the information, no response for some time, and when I do, they want all our personal information. Couldnt just use the booking numbers that was provided. Well, now nothing, waiting weeks again for another response. Royal Carribean are an absolute disgrace making it extremely difficult to lodge a complaint and seek resolution. We havent even gone on the cruise yet, and its so off putting knowing this is the service they provide. Worst of all, Royal Carribean do not have the decency or ethics to respond to one persons negative response. Pure ignorance. If anything goes wrong, you will have NO HELP. Read everyone reviews! Their customer service department is pathetic.

Poor quality purchase on board

I have already written a review prev about the poor condition of the Explorer of the Seas. I'm now writing about a purchase made on board. I bought my daughter a Guess handbag from the ship handbag shop. It wasn't cheap. However, within 3 months the handles were completely broken. I took it to a repair shop and was told that it was probably not a Guess bag as the quality was really poor. I was quoted £50 approx to repair it. I was probably mis sold it. Just another reason never to use this cruise line again! Just a rubbish company.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service and we haven’t even gone anywhere yet! Awful call centre that take hours to get anything done?! I’m not sure what antiquated booking system they have but it’s just awful and just charges for everything, absolutely zero compassion or treating you like a human, you’re just a number on a huge cruise ship to them. Apprehensive about the onboard experience now.

Voyager of the Seas

Voyager of the Seas - Royal Caribbean

Avoid at all costs. Terribly aged ship, should have been de commissioned years ago, rust all over, peeling wallpaper, stained carpets and pool beds. Policies around kids are idiotic (curfew starts at 1am!) this left unruly kids hanging out in elevators, pressing all the buttons and watching people struggle to get around the ship, kicking stateroom doors and running at all hours.

Our toilet in our room didn't flush and maintenance never arrived to fix it during the 7 day cruise. This forced us to use public toilets at all hours throughout the ship. You would think we would at least get a satisfactory room that works.

Overpriced extras (a standard massage for one person was USD$599!!), minimal entertainment with trivia being the main offering, prizes ranging from a royal Caribbean pen to a light up plastic toy. Bingo was run once in the 7 days and despite pulling in an estimated 6 figures on bingo sales the top prize was USD$1600. The drinks were also very weak.

Despite raising all these issues I was offered 10% of my next cruise. Declined as I will never book through Royal Caribbean again. When I stated to an employee that I bet I would get a better resolution to these issues if I had booked a suite, premium drinks package and onshore excursions, the agreement in their face said it all.

After all this Royal Caribbean decided to charge me again when I got home for my onboard expenditure, and after numerous calls between my bank and Royal Caribbean they wouldn't help and I had to wait 30 days for my funds to bounce and return to me.

The only saving grace was the onboard staff who are clearly just small hardworking cogs in the greasy, money grabbing, bloated machine that is Royal Caribbean.

Do yourself a favour, spend your money elsewhere, you'll thank me.

The customer service was frankly…

The customer service was frankly shocking. My phone was stolen and someone was trying to access my bank cards and cancelled all my excursions on royal Carribbean app to get the money to try and use my card. I called as soon as I noticed as I logged in to my email but they refused to reinstate them at the prices I got them for (6 hours later). They said "how do I know that happened?" Making out in lying. I have a police report for the theft! We won't be using royal Caribbean again now. Disgusting when I am travelling and now they want to make more money from me. All they care about is taking your money. Try and different cruise line.

SEN parents avoid like the plague

To start off the boarding process was incredibly easy, staff were friendly and welcoming when boarding the ship.

My issues started when I couldn’t access the internet package that I had paid for before boarding, it was missing from the app and for some reason was under my sons name instead of mine (he’s 9 why would he be the one purchasing it?) thankfully that was sorted but was a nightmare to connect, didn’t work properly and service was incredibly intermittent. The app would hardly work and constantly had to be rebooted. Considering I paid £15 a day for this internet i expected better from it.

Second issue was prior to boarding we had requested that the coffee table be removed from the room and that the beds be split. When we arrived they obviously weren’t done. I rang guest services to be greeted by a rather rude lady that told me it would be up to housekeeping to decide if they wanted to remove it. (I have a disabled daughter, who uses a wheelchair, for her safety I needed it removed) thankfully spoke to housekeeping who was lovely and so helpful they agreed to remove it.

Next issue I had was in regards to my daughter, she has a rather rare genetic condition which makes her developmentally delayed. She’s 6 with the mind of around 10 months, she has to use nappies because she can’t be toilet trained. When we approached the pool, we were swiftly greeted by a lifeguard that demanded to know if she was in nappies. Of course she is so we were told she couldn’t go into the pool. That’s fine I understand that’s the rule, my issue was that we were limited to a couple of sprinklers. Even the water features she wasn’t allowed to use, like the slide or even the other sprinklers, when ever she would venture away from this boundary they put in place they would shout at us to keep her in that area. I tried to take her into the toddler area and was told she was too big, I later took her in there anyway as no one was as using it to be told she can’t be in there it’s for nappies only, I said she’s wearing one to which they replied she could stay but if a toddler came in she had to leave because she’s too big. My daughter is a huge water baby it’s her favourite thing in the world so having all this red tape was incredibly frustrating and was made worse that toddlers were allowed everywhere, the life guards didn’t blink when literal babies were being taken into the pools and whirlpools etc. honestly felt like my daughter was being discriminated against, by being confined to a small area all because she wasn’t toilet trained when babies and other toddlers who were no where near toilet training age were allowed to go where ever.

For SEN parents I honestly wouldn’t bother taking them on this cruise it’s just not worth the added stress, I’ve never had to deal with discrimination toward my daughter yet and this just made the whole experience miserable.

The icing on the cake was when we returned they obviously billed me and took the amount owed. Fine. What they didn’t do is release the funds they had been holding back to me, so I’m now down to £3 in my bank account as they have effectively charged me twice. After speaking to a representative twice all I got was excuses, and blaming my bank for not releasing it back even when I pointed out that they can’t with out their authorisation.

Personally was one of the worst experiences of my life and I was only on there 5 days, and the rush to remove you from the ship is insane, I would have thought that you’ve paid for these day why can’t you stay at least for breakfast before being told you have to leave

Given two stars purely for the wait staff and the stateroom attendant because they were amazing.

We were on independence of the seas, incredibly out dated rooms, even after upgrading the room was a tiny room. Absolutely will not be travelling with them again

Retaliation

On Nov 24, 2024, my wife and I booked and paid in full for a Celebrity Cruise Reservation 1791846 for an 11-day cruise departing Barcelona on Aug 27, 2025. On Aug 13, 2025, the security function at Celebrity sent an email stating that our reservation was being cancelled and that we would be placed on a "no sail list" for any of Royal Caribbean Cruise Ltd (RCCL) lines of business. They proceeded to cancel this reservation on Aug 19, 2025. The reason they gave for this action was that I had a lawsuit against RCCL and their travel partner World Travel Holdings (WTH) for a cruise that we took in Dec 2023. On that 2023 cruise, all of the onboard activities were conducted in Spanish, which neither my wife nor I have any fluency. The language intensive nature of this cruise was not communicated to us at any point. We complained and were given the runaround up until we filed a conciliation court action to obtain relief. Celebrity's Security team and some number of other executives decided to use that lawsuit to retaliate against us by canceling our Aug 27, 2025 cruise and barring us from traveling on any RCCL ship. This does not seem like a good business practice since filing a lawsuit is not illegal and should not be disruptive to regular business. No specific contractual term or condition was referenced in their decision. I have not received any refunds for this cruise and onboard purchases.

Bad ship, worse experience

This ship seriously needs to be retired. The condition of the rooms alone is unacceptable—our couch was covered in mystery stains, and one of our pillowcases even had old blood stains on it. That set the tone for the entire trip.

We booked this particular cruise solely because of the excursions, but every single one of them was cancelled. The replacements we were offered were subpar at best and nothing like what was advertised. The food on board is mediocre, with the buffet closed for more than half the day (14 hours total), leaving very limited options. On top of that, the paid WiFi barely works in large portions of the ship, which is ridiculous given the price.

The pools are some of the dirtiest I’ve ever seen on a cruise ship. To make matters worse, guest services is useless—they just pass you off until you get too frustrated to continue. Overall, this was the worst cruise experience we’ve ever had and we’ll never book this ship or any other RC ship again.

FAKE TIMED OFFERS!

Ordered two Internet packages after reaching their website last night which stated to take advantage of offers I had to complete booking before the end of the diminishing clock (which stood at 9+ hours) expired, cost $251.88. Today, 24 hours later, through 'A Flash Sale', they increased their offer to $227.88, thereby costing me $24. Hardly seems fair, nor in the spirit of offering clients good value. Disgusted!

Loyal to Royal no more

After several years being loyal to royal our recent experiences on Royal C has made us decide that this company now only cares about profit and more profit at the expense of customers, especially loyal ones.
The room was dirty, the internet did not work a lot of the time even after paying for the best at sea.
The staff appeared disengaged and only happy to talk to each other in their native language.
The atmosphere on board was that of apathy, most people just happy to get drunk and get rowdy.
The food was at best poor with very little taste. No point of filling in the customer satisfaction questionnaire as no one takes any notice of it . Royal we are done ,better cruise lines out there with better service , more care for their customers, better prices and definitely better itineraries .

Currently on adventure of the seas and…

Currently on adventure of the seas and we are in a sunset jr suite room 6694. We originally had a ocean view suite and then rccl talked us into the sunset jr suite, boasting about the incredible views . I guess they are correct it is a incredible view of rust . I can not even use the balcony because it so disgusting. Guest services is only willing to give me $100 on board credit and I paid alot more then $100 to upgrade. This is the worst experience ever oh and the cabinet doors fell off the hinges when I opened them on the 1st day , which took them over 3hrs to get someone to repair it. I am a diamond plus member and never had a bad experience but I felt like I got taken advantage of with my upgrade I felt they should have reimbursed me the upgrade fee or at the very least half of the upgrade fee. But I think $100 is a slap in the face. So when I return I will cancel my next 2 cruises that are already paid for this year. If you are booked on a upcoming trip on adventure of the seas avoid the sunset jr suite.

They lost my bag and accused me of lying

If I could give them 0 I would. Royal Carribean lost my bag coming out of Ravenna on the Voyager of the Seas on Monday morning.

I tried to wait for my bag but I was put on the wrong transfer which meant I was being pushed straight onto the bus at the departure time. I reported it to the person managing the bags in the baggage hall who filled in the lost item form on an iPad. I asked what else needed to be done, he said nothing. In fact, there was. I needed a Personal Property Report form from them to prove that they acknowledge the loss of the bag. When I called customer service for an update, without this form, they are refusing to do anything at all and accused me of lying about losing a bag.

I was told this is why they sell extra insurance, and it was my fault that I didn't. There is nothing they are willing or able to do. We're on day three with no updates about the bag or response to the three emails I have sent. I take three cruises a year from a wide variety of lines, but this will be my first and last with Royal Caribbean. Avoid at all costs.

Our recent experience with Royal…

Our recent experience with Royal Caribbean’s photo package was extremely disappointing and felt like a bait-and-switch. When our Genie asked if we wanted to schedule a private photo session, we assumed this would allow us to skip lines at the regular photography areas and simply make the process easier. We all dressed up and invested significant time taking pictures at a variety of venues throughout the ship.

At the end of our session, I asked the photographer if the pictures would be available in the Royal Caribbean app, as with the standard photo packages. I was told, “No.” Instead, we had to schedule a separate appointment just to view the photos. When we showed up for this viewing, we were subjected to what felt like a high-pressure timeshare sales pitch. The photos looked fantastic, but we were then told each digital photo would cost $250. That price is astronomical and nowhere close to being communicated up front—nor were we told that the session wasn’t included in the regular photo packages.

We wasted valuable vacation time on a session that we’ll never get the images from. The lack of transparency regarding pricing and availability of digital photos is unacceptable. I feel this entire process was misleading from start to finish. AVOID—SCAM.

The worst company ever!

The worst company ever!! Boat Violence!!

I’m writing this in relation to my friend who never spoke about it as her life was threatened and she almost passed.
Mob Festival 2010 Leaving Porto de Santos
The boat Vision of the Seas my friend got brutally attacked by a man called Ronan Teixeira from Belo Horizonte (a psychopath) because she refused kiss him, he attached her in the corridor when she was going to her cabin! He raped her, punched her as she was trying to defend herself, she was Screaming for help but the crew got there too late and he almost killed her! The result??? The capitain kicked her and this psychopath out of the boat without ANY help as she had a panic attack crisis due to the situation, back then she couldn’t speak English and the crew spoke English, and he went again after her to try to kill her for being kicked out of the cruise. She now lives in Australia as she left Brazil after this man threatened her life for saying no to him on that first night of the MOB FESTIVAL 2010! She got extremely harmed with HUGE damage in her whole body and she still suffers from anxiety, panic attacks and is scared of people! This changed her whole life thanks to Royal Caribbean

Royal has been a nightmare

Royal has been a nightmare . Getting taxes and fees returned . Also i have a Royal Caribbean gift card and they say you cant use it on the ship. What ?? What a joke. Only to pay a new cruise. Carnival at least lets you use them on the ship. I was hoping they would be better. They are much worse. Zero stars if i could.

Minus on convenience plus on others.

I am editting this review after I have had time to reflect.

First the stars remained a 3 because of the few things that were a minus for me.

Here's the short version.

Many of the activities were great on board. Trained staff were required and fantastic learning staff made you cconcerned.
Huge diversity on the ship which was great.

Food was the best and drinks
The slides, laser tag and pools were
Actually downers especially with the way too loud music.
Kids were not really aloud to play.

If you do this ship and have younger kids not teenagers get them to the play rooms they will like it more.

Long version

Pros:
●many fun great activities ies on board.
● Ice skating
●Behind the scenes tour was great as well super cool.
● Hot tubs
● FOOD both buffet and Italian restaurant with wilfredo as our server was amazing and the steak house server was super fun and made sure to get us a family picture as well I forget thei name . Will update when I remember names
● Escape room was fantastic!
Behind the scenes tour. I forget if his name was Francisco or fredrico.
● Drinks
●kids area however we realized late
●surprisingly rooms beds were what I would say is mid range comfort the shower was great although prone to mold due to the sliding door creating a small area between it and the wall for moister to collect.also the rooms had temperature control TV and storage. Mostly quiet minus the connecting room but as long as your neighbors stayed quiet you were good only one one side as a problem.
● elevators were way better than what people told me they would be for being on floor 2.
● Guest services especially Guest service officer Blazheski literally saved the vacation for us multiple times.
● Movies late at night in hottubs
● The views
● navigtion to stay in good weather.

Cons:
● not convient for wheelchair and disabled grandmother bumps all over the ship and ramps that led to bumps. Almost tipped grandma out the wheel chair.
●the music in family areas was far too loud and constant through the speaker creating to much of a super loud party atmosphere where kids would normally be in the pool playing. Feels like that should be in a different area.
●THE FIRST DAY AND BAGS.
Warning this is a long part
the long shoreman discouraged us and prevented us from checking in bags so with a disabled grandma in wheel chair that we had to force them to get for us and a and daughter I had to with thebhelpnofnpeople pushing grandma in the chair cary 9 bags and a child through all the check points and safety briefing. I would have had to keep them till the end of the day if not for the guest service officer listed above.
● Hot tubs didntnhave wheel chair ornery access for old or less mobile people.
● wheel chair lifts either didn't work or staff didn't know how to use.

It felt like they wanted to have three different kinds of atmospheres
One adult atmosphere, two relax on vacation atmosphere, and three family friendly fun.

But they didn't physically space them away from each other so it didn't work in many different situations.

Departing was fast and easy maybe a little too so I accidentally didn't have one of my bags but they were able to get it back to me. I seem to be missing just a pair of sunglasses I'll call to see if I left behind as well.

They mailed me back the bag but it cost money not terrible considering size and weight.

Many things over all were great it just felt like for ha ing called every week three days a week ahead of time they should have been able to set me up for success more rather then the amount of work I had to put to being on the ship and trying to.make it fun and relaxing for.my family.

Disappearing people

The lack of empathy from the crew at Royal Caribbean Cruises after the disappearance of Amy Bradley is astonishing. I wouldn't recommend anyone with a sane mind to go on a trip where you could be trafficked, sexually assaulted, murdered and no justice whatsoever. Worthless company.
