Dimissive and rude salespeople

Toyota are really good cars, I guess they must really sell themselves because the staff didn't feel like they had to try. I had to argue very hard just to get a manual with my used toyota and was told I was lucky I was getting a spare wheel in the boot. I was often given the dismissive statement that 'it's all online now' but without any details.

Was given no service booklet and the first service record I was given wasn't even fully filled in (granted I can get full details from Toyota's portal, something I researched on my own). After filling in a Toyota feedback form I received a voice message from the sales manager whilst I was working and unable to answer, asking me to call him back, but with no details as to what about. After a couple of times calling with no answer on different dates and times I gave up.

I don't think I asked anything unusual, most of my requests were quite basic, but I was made to feel like I was a waste of time to deal with. I guess if I was buying a brand new car I would have been treated differently, but it's not like Toyota approved used cars are cheap!

Because of how unpleasant the experience was I was often tempted to pull the plug and stick to the bus. Though I was assured by the salesperson these cars sell very fast so I guess it would have been no bother to them.

I'm not sure what the point of going to a main dealer is after that experience, probably better to try a reputable second hand dealer for a better price if you'll get treated like an inconvenience at an expensive main dealer.

AVOID - RRG Peugeot Rochdale

AVOID - RRG Peugeot Rochdale

Purchased a nearly new 2021 Peugeot 208 GT (MF71 OUD) with approx 8,000 miles. Collection day saw a large area of damage to one of the doors no doubt by their “detailers” who probably dropped the sponge and wiped the car with grit. Sales Manager refused to repair as it was too much cost to them! So gave me a partial refund holding back £500 until the V5 doc was returned. It was returned by recorded / signed for Royal Mail. Days pass and despite chasing still no refund. Despite the salesman who sold me the car signing the return mailed V5 Document, they cannot locate the V5 Document - clearly they have lost it or already sold the car with it. A scam on trying to keep a customers money. Selling the car in a damaged state to an unassuming customer no doubt as they cannot be bothered spending money to repair it. Now with The Motoring Ombudsman. AVOID THIS GARAGE!

Excellent customer service

Purchased a Corolla GR sport in January 2024,after 10 years of having DSG gearbox, the Corolla gearbox felt very different and i thought may be e problem. called RRG and Spoke with Peter who told me to bring the car in, i went for a drive with one of the technicians Rob who explained how the gearbox operates, i then left the car with them for a full check and diagnostic, Peter called me last night saying all was fine but wanted to do 1 more check when my car is cold.
Final check done this morning and all fine, I have collected my car and again Peter explained how the gearbox works now I'm 100% happy.
Cant thank Peter and Rob for all the help they gave me and reassurance on my car, and to top it all off i was not charged for the diagnostic test.
One Happy customer thanks RRG Salford and your superb staff. Sean

RRG (TOYOTA) DENTON

Absolutely fantastic service throughout my new car purchase. This Dealership truly deserves a big shout out. My purchase went flawlessly from start to finish, these guys really do go the extra mile.

Not your usual "pushy" Car Salesmen at this establishment, you are treated just like a member of their family!

This is my second car Purchase from the RRG Group as you can thoroughly rely on them to not only take care of your vehicle, but to truly value you as a customer and supply a great service, they also have fantastic knowledge of all the products that they offer for sale.

Special thanks to Callum Cass (Sales), Pete Smith (Sales & Handover) and George (Service Dept).

I want to give zero stars but I…

I want to give zero stars but I can’t.Worst dealership in uk. RRG bury. Worst management I have ever experienced in my entire lifetime. Unprofessional and arrogant behaviour. I’ve had a very bad experience. I don’t know how they have positive reviews. Very poor customer service from sales team and management. I’ve been using Toyota vehicles from the last ten years and this was the worst experience I’ve had. Avoid if you want a car because they quote you a price and then try to charge you more than you original quote a week later for a car with 3 years of service missing from the history. Everything they say is a lie and they try to scam you. Avoid at all costs unless you want to get ripped off. This place is an absolute joke. I was happy to purchase the car for£250 more than the quoted price but unfortunately this place treats their customers like dirt. BEWARE and don’t believe the positive reviews because they are probably manipulated just like their vehicles service history. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I bought a Skoda Fabia 2022 from RPG…

I bought a Skoda Fabia 2022 from RPG Rochdale a month ago, I was told to get gap insurance and was also informed that body work and alloy wheel would be a good thing to get as it had a few chips on the paint work. After looking into the insurance for the paint and alloy wheel protection it would appear to not cover stone chips! Pointless, so I ended up cancelling this policy. The most annoying thing about my dealing with RPG Rochdale is as one of the comments below states, no follow up call from the team over at Rochdale. I’ve had my car go back to them due to issues with both the Bluetooth connection and the Apple CarPlay cutting out. RPG Rochdale are confident that this isn’t the car and my phone. Jack Munro has been really unhelpful, not returned a call as promised. Please be careful

Disastrous experience

Disaster from the moment i agreed to buy a car from RRG Mazda. We agreed the back bumper would be fixed as part of the deal as it had been damaged quite badly. When i picked the car up, it had been painted but no damage actually fixed. Phil on handover was great and has been with any other dealings i've had with him just to add to this review... however when it was passed back to my original salesman, i was told that he and his manager both thought the damage was acceptable. Asked to speak to the manager at least 10 times on separate occasions and told he would call me before i was able to. When i finally got to speak to him he said his staff hadn't passed the message on to him to call me. we finally agreed after a few days on the bumper being replaced, so at my expense again, dropped the car up 30 miles from where i live to have the bumper replaced. Picked it up last night and got home, blind spot sensors no longer work (should be reset when bumper is replaced but no one has told me if this was done). the back bumper has overspray on the lower trim, both corners of the new bumper are damaged and they've managed to chip both of my rear wings. No apology throughout until i pointed that out to the manager, no reimbursement for the 240 miles i've done travelling + loss of working hours to and from the dealership with this issue and absolutely no faith this will be resolved. Emailed 3 contacts first thing this morning with my complaint and no phonecall as yet...

My Advise to anybody reading this is to contact the Motor trade ombudsmen about this garage if you have a problem that they won't resolve.

Awesome Customer Service!

My wife and I managed to get a new car today from RRG in Birkenhead, Wirral. The experience from start to finish was exemplary. Really relaxed atmosphere with all of their staff. We were looked after by Serenity and Dani, who were both outstanding.

From the moment we were met by a lovely lady at reception, we were made to feel welcome and were treated like guests. Serenity and Dani are extremely knowledgeable, and they were courteous throughout to my wife and I.

We cannot wait to collect our car in just over a week and meet everyone again! We strongly recommend RRG in Birkenhead if you are looking for a new Dacia, Nissan or Renault.

Well done Serenity and Dani.

RRG Salford Toyota

Very disappointed.

Booked my full service + MOT together (as well as braking system error messages pop up recently want to check what's going on). Gave the car to them the next day got a call said my MOT failed, due to a weird tyre damage cut which reach the ply. Told you can't drive it unless you replace all tyres (the rest of them they said close to limit, which I am pretty sure it got 3-4mm before drive in, DVLA limit is 1.5mm right?). Logically why the technician doesn't notice during the service? If they found it why they still go to the MOT test? They should call you before carry out the MOT, not until its failed. You paid premium want hazzle free but end up the opposite. What they told at the end is this time the MOT was done before the service...

Secondly, about my car's braking system fault, they told its related to weather and fault code store in the hybrid system (fixed after resetting it). I have to believe as RRG is the official dealer. However, the day I drive my car back home from RRG the errors comes up again, which shows basically they know nothing or didn't pay attention on the fault (braking system is a life threatening safety issue!).

Took my qashqai for its first service and was told upon collection that the software update wasn’t done because they didn’t have the equipment. 4 months later car wouldn’t start, rang them for a diagnostic check to be told that they don’t have technicians capable of doing it and was advised to go elsewhere, not what you want to hear after spending £34k on a brand new car

As soon as I walked in the showroom Mark Williamson came over to help. Unfortunately they didn’t have the car I wanted but mark went above and beyond and found the car I wanted at the showroom in Rochdale and said he could get it brought down to Bolton for me. He also sorted out a test drive with a similar car with the same engine, everything was great and I loved it. What ever I needed Mark sorted for me. I highly recommend the Bolton team.

Not what I expected ..

Looking for a new car ..went to your Stockport branch as interested in a MG4 shocking customer service initially this Adam came out and invited me in to look at it that was as far as It went without really pushing I asked him to talk me through the features of the car I have never owned an electric car basically said there was nothing to tell me! I felt I was dragging the detail out of him.
I even had to push him on a possible test drive no suggestion of when or how to book this .. lost a potential sale today you want people to buy your cars customer service should be at the top of your priorities!

Think twice about trading a car in !

I bought a new Peugeot 2008 from RRG Oldham . I was trading in a 2016 Nissan juke . I was offered £4250 which was reduced to £3750 as there was a scuff on the front on the bumper . I said I wouldn’t be trading it in as id been offered more at another garage , they kept repeating so you are not trading it in - no I’ll pay for the car ! I sold the car for £1500 more !
They registered my new car with wrong reg for 7 day ins and asked me to amend it , which I declined as it was a 40 min wait to contact the company . They also got my personal details wrong on the DVLA log book . Happy with the car and the salesman was good but the rest of his team were not !

RRG Skoda, Bolton. Great car, poor service. 1* upgraded to 3*

Great car, poor service.

Vehicle I made a 500 mile round trip to collect was not ready when I arrived at the dealership. Despite having a handover appointment which, despite my long journey, I arrived on time for.

This seemed lost on my sales advisor who was aware I was travelling that distance, so at the very least I expected the car to be ready for me to view.

The visit started off well, my father and I were greeted by friendly staff and offered Tea & Coffee while I waited for Callum. We then met Callum who was pleasant enough but seemed rushed and unorganised. I was then advised the car was being valeted, hence the delay.

Some 40 minutes later the vehicle was “ready” but I still didn’t get to see it as Callum took it away to put some fuel in. This was only after I enquired about nearby fuel stations.

Callum informed me that there was about 30 miles of fuel in the car, but as a courtesy they would normally put some more fuel in, but this hadn’t been done. He then asked if I would like him to go and get some fuel. I questioned if this is a normal courtesy then a) why even ask, and b) why was this not done before I arrived, and before the car was valeted.

This meant Callum went out in the car to a fuel station, after the car had been valeted and still before I got to look at it, which irked me somewhat.

Another 15 minutes later and I finally got to see the car when it was brought into the “handover” bay inside the dealership showroom.

I was then left alone for about 30s to look at the car while Callum went to get his manager to say hello, before being almost ushered into having my picture taken for their facebook page.

I was not offered the chance to test drive the vehicle or shown round it. I was also not told any information about a warranties etc.

I was then asked to get into the car so Callum could show me some basic functions before being left to go on my way.
I had still not had the chance to have a proper look round the car, but because I was left in the handover bay, inside the showroom, I felt awkward and obligated to leave quickly.

The following day while cleaning the car (after my long journey home) I found damage on the rear bumper where the car had clearly been reversed into something sharp, leaving a dent and damage to the surrounding paint. It was also clear that a poor “patch repair” had been attempted in an effort to cover the damage. Perhaps in the hope it wouldn’t be noticed as quick.

This had clearly occurred while at the dealership. I know this as it was not in the original presentation video Callum had sent me, but was not fresh, meaning it could only have occurred some time in the 10 days between the video being taken and the car being given to me.

I contacted Callum and provided pictures, and despite acknowledging that it may have occurred at the dealership, they refused to take responsibility and I was told there’s nothing they are willing to do about it.

As a side note, the so called valet, that was supposedly the reason for the delay with the car being ready, was also very poor. 6 days later and I am still finding traces of glitter throughout the car which has clearly been from the previous owner. Some of this has got into the perforations in the leather seats and is proving very difficult to remove and is very annoying now that it has been noticed. I also found a chocolate wrapper under the back seats!

I have raised the above issues with Callum, and requested it be passed to his manager for response, but as yet 1 week later have heard nothing and feel I am now being ignored.

When I first enquired about the vehicle Callum did inform me that it had just arrived at the dealership. Given the spec and desirability of the car they clearly recognised that it would sell quick. It seems clear that they have turned the vehicle around as quick as possible in order to secure a quick sale.

It seems clear that because I live so far away and therefore unlikely to return to the dealership, they are unconcerned as they now have my money and secured the £30000 sale for their January books. They also practically bit my hand off at the trade value I asked for my old car (I undersold myself) so they’re clearly very happy with the deal they got and aren’t interested in anything now that I am gone.

Luckily I had done my research and was confident that despite the service I’d received the car itself would live up to expectations. Overall am very happy with the car in general in terms of the spec and looks.

However the service I recieved has soured the overall experience of buying my new car.

**Update 15/2/24**

Initially given 1* for the reasons above, but now upgraded to 3* as after leaving the poor reviews I was contacted and offered an apology and repair of the damage. Though it did mean my car having to be returned to Bolton, adding another 500 miles to it, and go without it for a week, however I was given a courtesy car.
