At the RSPCA, we’re proud to be there for every kind— from pets in need to wild animals who need urgent care. Every day, our dedicated teams work tirelessly to protect animals, prevent cruelty, and offer hope in situations that are often distressing and complex. As a charity, we face difficult decisions about how to use our limited resources, and we must prioritise the most urgent and serious cases of abuse or neglect. This sometimes means we can’t attend every call, no matter how much we wish we could. When we’re unable to be there in person, we’ll help in other ways—offering you support, directing you to organisations that can help fast, and, when it’s safe, empowering you to take an animal to a vet. These shared efforts truly make a difference. We’re incredibly grateful for the kindness, patience, and support shown by the public. Together, we can continue to speak up for animals, protect those in need, and build a better world for every kind.

Hugely impressed by the RSPCA yesterday - we found a badly injured swan and a really lovely RSPCA officer came out very quickly and dealt with an upsetting situation with kindness, knowledge and competence. We couldn't have been more impressed and have made a donation.

I wrote a genuine and honest review and yet it was removed, so no point in doing them. There were no names, addresses, areas or foul language used. Waste of my time.

They don't care about animals. Reported a wild deer that's had a carrier bag stuck over is face for 17 days so far. Multiple reports that it's been in the same place since then on the local Facebook group. They won't send an officer out because the animal isn't being monitored. Joke of an organisation.

Further to my review on 28/12/2025 regarding an injured fox, I received an updated message from Jacqueline last night to advise that the fox is fit and well and will be released back in our area in the coming days. A big thank you to all the staff who took care of the fox, especially Jacqueline who not only attended on the 28th, but who the took the time to update me. Thank you RSPCA for all the work you do 🙏.

Absolutely shocking service nobody is listening. I bought a puppy and the puppy was poorly. This has been going on since November of last year. They never call you back. They never acknowledge your emails. They just completely ignore you shocking service. If they ever want money I will not be given it to them. I thought they loved animals obviously they don’t. Don’t give them anything.

Wouldn’t even give one star. Completely pointless reporting any concerns to this charity I phoned up to report dogs being kept outside in dark dirty pens with no bedding, the dogs spend their time howling and shivering it’s clear deflect and they couldn’t of been less helpful or interested. Disgusting.

Wouah I had no ideas rspca had so many bad reviews. Unfortunately I have to add an another one. I contacted them by phone,Mails with photos for prove. A young dog left outside day and night by all weather ( crazy rain few weeks ago and now -4). Near a caravan Only a tiny wood boxe where he can hardly fit and a 2 meters leach ( maximum,). Only mud around him. Also a danger for traffic. Since it situated few meters from a busy road. They were not interested!!! I will never give money to them and I will tell animals lover like me to check trust pilot and all that around Christmas!!!!

I rang this charity because they give the impression they care about animals. Yet when I found a stray dog and called them, their reply was sorry we don’t deal with that sort of thing. Therefore this confirms to me that it’s a FRAUDULENT CHARITY that really do not care. I really wonder where all the charity money goes. As It’s all a SCAM.

Short furred Bully breed reported to the RSPCA as it has been left outside alone with barely any shelter all week. Was still outside during the snow we had and only had frozen water to drink.
RSPCA said nothing they can do.
Dog has now finally gone silent after 96hrs of constant, non-stop barking and I have seen nobody take the Dog inside.
I suspect the Dog may actually be Dead from hyperthermia now and the RSPCA chose to do nothing.
They have the potential death of a Dog on their hands. RSPCA's Guiding Principles mean NOTHING!

2023 I reported a cat that was neglected, so much so the owner said if you can get that bloody cat off the roof you can take it, as it is always up there and I will not pay for it to be brought down again.
Myself and a couple manged to coax it down.
The owner ignored the cat was only feeding it human food and then left it out in the cold for days, I started to feed him noticed he had a lump and was skinny and was very itchy. I asked for help had no response.
A few months later after feeding the cat myself it didn't go on the roof anymore.
One night my husband went outside to check on him and saw nothing until the owners door flew open with the cat screaming and trying to run away, to then flop down near our bins and my husband called for me quickly.
I went down and he was in a horrendous state, his jaw was hanging off, dried blood around his nose and mouth, his ribs clearly broken and his back leg stuck up in the air. He took his last breath when I was out there.
The next day I noticed the owner dumped a mattress outside covered in blood. I tried the police and rspca and nothing happened. I'm disgusted that this is allowed to happen to a young cat. He was so scared of people but managed to trust me. I couldn't go to work I was in tears and now traumatised for life.
I have adopted a cat now and I constantly check if he's breathing, it has left so many scars that I am so protective of my boy.

I donate a monthly payment to RSPCA. I am passionate about animal welfare!
Had a neighbour that was reported for leaving her 2 dogs and 2 cats in a flat whilst she frequently goes away for days, this time for least a week!
She was reported, RSPCA van surveyed her property for 2 days! 29th and 30th December.
Police were called out 2 cars arrived.
They hung around the property for around an hr still no owner,
Dogs was distressed at the window every single night barking n howling.
Police n RSPCA van left the property n animals inside The flat and drove off for another day!
I wept at the thought of these poor animal being neglected!
Absolutely shocked and just can't come to terms with them being left AGAIN!
Seriously thinking of stopping my monthly donation if this is how they deal with reports of neglect and ignore!
I pay to stop suffering not to prolong

Unfortunately my review echoes most of these already here. My grandson was fishing and spotted a swan with fishing hook and line wrapped around its neck and beak. He telephoned the RSPCA who asked a whole host of personal question which took about 15 minutes. After all this time he was also told that they had no one to attend and gave details of an obscure outfit to contact. It seems, having just seen their Christmas advert, that they are only interested in cats and dogs as there were numerous films of these but wild animals are not worth looking after.

If I could give no stars I would!
Extremely disappointed in the RSPCA’s handling of repeated animal welfare reports.
Since August, multiple neighbours and myself have reported ongoing neglect involving cats being left alone for weeks at a time with no reliable food, water, or shelter. The owner regularly leaves the property for weeks, sometimes over a month and in August she left for 7 weeks and the cats are left outside in all weather.
On several occasions, RSPCA officers attended, knocked on the door, left a note, and sometimes officers didn’t even bother to come out they just closed the case. The owner was contacted by phone and denied neglect — despite the property being clearly unoccupied and officers themselves acknowledging this. Cases were repeatedly closed with “no further action” while the situation continued.
We were even told not to feed the cats, despite them being visibly skinny, cold, soaked from rain, crying, and exposed to attacks from foxes, badgers, and other cats. We have 134 extensive photo and video evidence, time and date-stamped, yet this was seemingly ignored.
Most concerning is that callers are given conflicting advice, cases are closed without explanation, with one caller handler saying apparently you can’t not re-report the same animals even when conditions worsen. Staff have been dismissive and rude when concerns are escalated.
The RSPCA actively encourages the public to report neglect, cruelty, and abuse — but when genuine, ongoing neglect is reported repeatedly, nothing meaningful is done. Being understaffed is not an excuse for failing animals who clearly need intervention.
This organisation urgently needs better training, accountability, and procedures. The current system is failing the very animals it claims to protect.
Yes it can be busy, overwhelming and stressful but just do your job right and please train your call handlers more!

Found a badly injured cat at work, called RSPCA to be told they have no one they could send out. Advised I take it to a local vet despite having nothing to transport it. Told them would not be able to so was I suppose to just let the cat die, to basically be told yes, not in so many words. Words were ‘as I’ve just said unfortunately we have no one to send out’. Ended call, absolutely useless, don’t help but yet always want donations

Absolutly disgusted with your tv advert "poor dogs got no hair on him" !!!!
Its a Chinese Crested and looks very fit and well GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!!!. The RSPCA have now claimed the dog was not a Chinese Crested?? It is, I used to show mine at Cufts!! That advert is a lie

I am so disappointed and frustrated. I reported to the RSPCA a dog being in distress for days. I told them I didn't believe anyone was home and the lights are on a timer. It was confirmed the address was known to them! 2 weeks later and numerous reports submitted, a local sanctuary had to be called to help. They saved the dog with the help of the fire brigade! The sanctuary called the RSPCA to report it and they had the audacity to ask the state of the dog... you could not be bothered to come and help yet want to know how the dog is!! Malnourished and abused, that is how it is!! The RSPCA has the cheeky to put out their adverts for donations so that they can continue their vital work saving animals.. I will never support them again. They enabled this poor door to suffer needlessly for weeks. How bad do things have to be before they do anything!! Go to your local animal rescue for help, they were there within half an hour! They will be getting my donation.

Tried twice to donate £20 on your site on two separate days - it wouldn't take the donation from my debit card. And as I'm an ex-Bank card employee don't try to tell me I did it wrong.
Your contact system is attrocious and kept me going round in circles - so this is the only way to contact you.
On looking at this site, which is the first time, I'm appalled at your ratings and the comments. Money in my will is, or was going to the RSPCA and not a mere £20 - I'm looking elsewhere now to a better animal organisation to place those funds on my death.
Your reviews are worse than my doctors surgery and that takes some beating.
I'm appalled.
Update 9th December 2025: Re your reply: I'm not messing around going onto your complaints and filling in questions about your payment page - sort your own stuff out - I don't work for you. And I went directly to Blue Cross and absolutely no trouble at all giving them my small donation via their website.

I have been in contact with the RSPCA for over a year now concerning 2 cats that have been abandon by their owner. I first is chipped and has some sort of skin allergy. My vet cannot treat him. An RSPCA rep did take him to vets to get him treated. Which I thank. That treatment last a couple of months, I am still in contact with the RSPCA concerning the welfare of these cats. Not one reply from any email. I now have one cat the scratches himself so bad, it's left blood splatters on my window frames and a kitten abandon with no shelter ( neighbours and I have other animals). It is fed because we're animal people. Maybe the RSPCA could take note. Believe press and social media need to hear what's going on because I see very little being spent on the front line and more in the boardroom.
I reported a neglected dog at my neighbour's flat. The dog is locked up all day without food and water, but according to the RSPCA, nothing wrong is happening. That organisation is a joke !!!
