I signed up for the wildflower triathlon which was cancelled. This was supposed to be on the 18th of June 2023, and was supposed to be transferable or carried over to this year. I've never had my £79.61 back. I can't do a chargeback as it was too long ago. Very upsetting I'll never be compensated now.

Bought 2 entries to a Falkirk 10k for Sunday 21st Jan 2024. Four days until the event and still had no information, other than a receipt from the original payment. After some digging, I’ve just found out through word of mouth that it’s cancelled and the company have gone bust. No word of refund, no communication about the event being cancelled, just completely left in the dark. So disappointed and feel completely cheated. I’m at a loss of what to do now.

Tough Runner applied for Winding Up back in April 23, and we're granted it in Sept. Run Afan Forest rose, phoenix like, from the ashes, and turned out to be hot air.

They've folded with hundreds of pounds of my and my partner's money in entry fees for races, zero communication, a notification on the website blaming everybody else, and a vague intention to give everybody race credits.

I sincerely hope Adam Newton's next poo is an reversed porcupine.

Terrible company run by a dishonest individual. Used to be Tough Runner - charges still show up on your bank account as Tough Runner - until that company was wound up and replaced with Run Afan, which has continued its dubious practices.

Charges for events and merchandise, then "postpones" the events at very short notice and refuses refunds. Absolutely disgusting, they want locking up.

Do not sign up to these races, Adam Newton the MD is a rip off merchant, cancelling races at short notice and not refunding entry fees.
He is nothing short of a fraudster.

Complete scam. New iteration of tough runner (look at their reviews) and history of cancelled events with no refunds.
I’d urge everyone affected to contact any council holding an event to warn them and also all event partners to pull funding.

Booked an event - Falkirk half scheduled for 19 November - with the company Tough Runner, which was then liquidated and all events taken over by Runafan. No notice given of this until the lead up to the event when we noticed an update wasn’t sent by Tough runner. Turns out Adam Newton was director of both companies so clearly liquidated tough runner to be able to carry on his scam.
We were informed we would receive race day pack via email and race numbers in the post - nothing received. Then 4 days before the event it was ‘postponed’ due to staff illness (tonsillitis and a hospital admission).
On looking online realised this is just one of many events which have been postponed with no rearranged date. Seems to be a scam.
I therefore emailed to ask when the race had been postponed to and that if it wasn’t going to be in 2023 I would like a refund for the two tickets I bought to be told that this company will not provide a refund, despite them cancelling the event.
I can only conclude from the completely atrocious treatment of entrants of this race, that this company is conning entrants. Would recommend avoiding at all costs. If you enter a race do not expect it to go ahead, and best of all, don’t expect to receive your money back when they cancel it. Don’t understand how this company keeps getting away with this!

Owes my family money for unpaid invoices. Won’t pay anymore (despite agreeing the fee) because his dad said so 😂
Currently drawing up court documents with other unpaid venues to get our money back.

Adam Newton is a con man

Awful scam of a company. This is run by Adam Newton. He used to run tough runner, but the awful reviews means he’s changed the name to run a fan. Go see Tough runners trustpilot. He created events and cancels them. Taking all the money. Daily record covered them in a news article on how bad they are.

Poorly organised events, clearly in it for the money and not the sport.
I volunteered at the cardiff trail 10k (when he was trading as tough runner) and it was a shambles. In my opinion the event shouldnt have gone ahead. The lack of organisation was appalling and quite frankly I was embarrassed to be representing this company, I was literally appologising to participants for something I had no influence over. The start times were all wrong, the canicross had no way near enough of a lead on course, the bad mother (womens only race, was cancelled with minimal notice and no refund given) and There was nowhere near enough crew / volunteers to participants ratio. We were being asked to do so many things, I was moved from finish line (setting up medals and manning the finish line aid station) to a near by water station to fill up plastic water cups where there was no where near enough water in the collapsable butts for the amount of runners. There wasnt even a bin / bin bags until we radio'd for them! Then had to run back to the finish line after filling up water like a mad man, Being brutally honest, felt more like slave labour than voluntary work, I was run ragged and wont be volunteering again, let alone entering any of his events. Not in it for the freebies but to actually get the 2 free entries we were promised would have been nice but should have known better!

Avoid! Very poor customer service and experience. Contingency plans should be in place when hosting major events. Event cancelled at 4 days notice, but even before that, lack of event pack info as promised in previous emails. A back up date should be ready should a postponement be required and an effective refund policy. Unprofessional to say the least!

Not even worth a star. A very convincing and well thought out scam so suppose they get a star for that. Event will be left open indefinitely to rescheduling meaning you'll never be entitled to a refund under their T&C's

Anything with Adam Newton attached is probably a con.Terrible company, company is a bunch of thieves. Set up events and postpone, cancel or liquidate the company, but still keep using the old company email.
Poor organisation, and badly run events. Did Falkirk 1/2 1st year and it was poorly organised, but benefit of doubt - next year took my fee liquidated the company but ran the event under another name (same organisation). Postponing with no option for refund. Feel sorry for people that booked accomodation. If you see anything linked to Runafan or tough runner. Not sure if let's do it and full on sport who took the booking are linked - but check reviews carefully.

Any event they run will be postponed until the last possible minute and then cancelled. terms and conditions always worded to avoid refunds. Basically handing them your cash for absolutely nothing…..shameful!

Will continuosly cancel (postpone) races at the last minutes. Races are rarely rescheduled and refunds are rarely given. Scam artists - avoid

Complete scam - don't give Adam Newton any of your money! Multiple events cancelled last minute without refund from previous company tough runner uk and this one.

Avoid every event run by this scam company. Being investigated by police for staging events and cancelling without refunds.
