Too many emails to try and is it REALLY benefiting companies - NO

Too many emails to try and sell services. Not really sure after 23 years in high risk HS&E, regardless of what regulator approves this where the benefit is. I have achieved accerdiation to over 20 companies who all say 'we get nothing from it, just our client says we have to have it'................and most companies stipulating you must have it have their own in house HSE Managers - its a money making paper exercise scheme, and good Health and Safety is about ownership, not paper !

Hi Terry,

Apologies for the time taken to reply to your review. We had some issues accessing the account around the time you left your review.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, given your years of experience in HS&E I genuinely value your perspective.

I'm really sorry to hear that your experience has been impacted by the volume of emails. We’re currently reviewing our communications journey with the aim of reducing unnecessary contact, and your comments have been shared with the relevant teams, particularly around reaching out too early in the process regarding additional services.

We also understand your concerns about accreditation feeling like a “paper exercise.” While we are a commercial business, our goal is to provide genuine value by helping contractors demonstrate their compliance clearly and consistently to clients, as well as giving them a recognised way to showcase their standards to prospective customers. That said, we recognise this value isn’t always felt as strongly as it should be, and we’re actively working to improve that.

As part of this, we’ve recently brought in a Head of Member Benefits to review and enhance what we offer, ensuring that membership delivers more practical, tangible benefits beyond accreditation alone.

Feedback like this is essential in helping us improve both our service and how we support experienced professionals like yourself. Thank you.

Kind regards,

Avoid at all Costs, Bunch of Scammers

I would give this company zero stars if I could. After deciding not to renew for a second year—especially since I received no work from their links—they pressured me to renew for a small fee. I made it very clear to the agent that no auto‑renewal should be in place.

Despite that, I woke up to find £500 taken from my account without permission.
This is unacceptable. Biggest scam. Avoid at all costs.

Hi Jillani,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to read about your experience and appreciate how frustrating this must have felt.

We want to be clear that we would never take a payment without prior agreement. Renewals are confirmed in advance and supported by written communication, and auto-renewal settings can only be applied where consent has been provided. That said, we take comments like yours extremely seriously and would welcome the opportunity to review exactly what has happened here.

I will escalate this to our retention team to conduct an investigation and review of our call logs, they will determine whether any remedial steps are required.

Please could you contact us directly at safecontractor@safecontractor.com
with your company name and details of the payment in question?

A senior member of the team will personally investigate this matter as a priority and work with you towards a resolution.

We’re sorry again that you’ve had this experience and hope we can resolve this for you quickly.

Initial contact indicated a lack of…

Initial contact indicated a lack of understanding as to what we did and how we then went about doing it.

More recently there appears to be a change in attitude and an acceptance that not all long established standards and practices are incorrect or inadequate for purpose.

Unnecessary business and Data breech

This is an unnecessary business and is over priced. There is no need for this. They also sent me over 200 emails and shared all the email contact names for every contact on their list. This is a data breech on their part. When I informed them of this they just laughed. I won't be doing business with them.

Hi Ron,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

I was very concerned to read your comments, particularly regarding the alleged data breach. I take any suggestion of this nature extremely seriously. I have attempted to contact you to obtain further details so that this can be urgently investigated. Sending 200 emails in this way would never be done consciously, and if this has occurred it would only ever be as the result of an error, which I would want to rectify immediately.

I would also like to understand when and how this was previously raised. Our team are trained to handle concerns professionally and sensitively, especially anything relating to data protection. I would not expect any member of staff to dismiss or laugh at a concern of this seriousness, and this will be reviewed thoroughly.

If you're willing to provide further information and engage directly, I will ensure he is put in contact with our Data Protection Officer so this can be formally investigated and addressed.

In relation to your comments about necessity and cost, SafeContractor works with over 40,000 contractors nationwide. Many organisations require or strongly favour SafeContractor approval within their supply chain, and where contractors share mutual clients with us, maintaining accreditation is often viewed very positively within the industry. That said, I understand that every business will assess value differently.

I am keen to resolve the concerns you’ve raised and would welcome direct contact at safecontractor@safecontractor.com or via the Trustpilot additional information facility so this can be investigated properly and a full response provided.

Kind regards,
Tom Parry
