Exceptional customer service

Discovered an issue after a refill when arrived on site with gas check valve having stuck. Sent an email not expecting a reply as after 5:30 on a good Friday. Received a rapid email response asking for a contact number. Neil promptly called me back, talked me through the problem and got it resolved for me. Couldn't ask for a friendly and better service. Thank you Neil.

Impossible to fill in

Good design idea, but not practical at all. It seems almost all stations refuse to fill in stand alone gas bottles. I couldn't find anything in Newcastle area, so I returned my newly bought bottle.

Unsafe

Unsafe. Only used half a bottle in a few years. Last week, it leaked all it's gas out which could have caused an explosion had it been stored in my shed where a fridge is running. Unreliable and dangerous. Managed to get hold someone at safehill by email only as theres no number to call and they didn't care less. Eventually agreed I can send it to them at my cost! No free of charge repair offer, no apology and worse of all no advice about how to deal with such a dangerous situation. Couldn't care less. Lethal piece of crap that cost a small fortune to buy. Sticking to Calor bottles as none of them were anything near as dangerous.

Brilliant

We have had our 10 kg Safefill bottle for over 6 years. Despite high initial outlay it's paid for itself many times over.
We use Morrisons and two local outlets for refilling. Also twice refilled in Spain.
Just refilled today with 15.4 Lt @ 76p £11.70 compare that to the Calor price.

Safefill need to pull it finger out to get petrol station on board to fill up at autogas site, eg shell staff refused to allow you fill up looks like calor and autogas have won and are going to putting you out of business as only morrisons are available to fill up
Shame could been such a great idea

I've only filled my gas canister a few…

I've only filled my gas canister a few times since i got it. The first few times I tried to fill the gas canister it was troublesome as the gas canister doesnt allow the gas to go properly into the canister. The gas stations gas pump works fine as i use it to fill my car, its just this canister that never allows the gas to go into the canister . Just today the canister wouldn't let me pump any gas at all into it. The gas station people tried to help me and they said there is something wrong with the this strange safefill gas canister. I would never recommend this safefill canister to anyone.

Great idea ONLY IF YOU HAVE A MORRISONS…

Great idea ONLY IF YOU HAVE A MORRISONS OR LPG refill site local to you. You can't contact Morrisons local stations to see if the lpg is working which is a pain as 50% of the time they are faulty but at least can buy calor gas there.

Same issues as others spent many hours going around looking for Autogas to find they have been removed OR do not allow you to refill on the forecourt.

Find a site and the pump is faulty or run out of gas.

We have to rely on Calor gas(3x the cost) until we chance upon a working Morrisons LPG.

Great feeling when you are burning cheap autogas though.

10 kg Safefill paid for itself in 2 years

The cost of my 10 kg Safefill bottle has just paid for itself after 2 years. Never had any difficulty filling it and find Morrisons petrol stations are cheapest for auto lpg. Safefill bottle is also much lighter than steel Calor. Should have bought one earlier to start saving earlier. Also protected from Calor bottle shortage and rising Calor bottle exchange costs. Very satisfied.

Why all the negative reviews

I have just bought a SafeFill 10 kg gas bottle This has a 10 Year guarantee. Providing you remember to keep receipts. The main reason I bought it was the spiralling price of the usual 6 KG propane bottle now costing £27 to get a refill. As for garages that sell LPG if you ask most to allow you to fill up your bottle. I must admit I had not heard of them before this year. However, my brother-in-law has used them for years. So far this year I have purchased 4 x 6 Kg gas bottle. refills that are at a cost £108, so within two years I will have recouped my initial lay out for a Safe Fill Gas Bottle. So now I only must carry one bottle. I saw all the negativity on the Trustpilot site. Who or what caused that who would lose out at over £27 a filling? 12 litres are in the 6kg bottles That works our £2.25 a litre. I just filled up at 0.86p a litre It was interesting though when I fitted my gas bottle in my van. There is a notice put there by the caravan manufacturers. This side only for 10 Kg light weight bottles. I must admit I had not noticed this in the three years I had used this van. It is only a small sign, but it is there. So perhaps they are ahead of the curve.

Easy to use, just do your research first.

I find it interesting that that many of the bad reviews appear to be people failing to do their research.

If you spend a great deal of time off grid and go through gas, with filling points near you, it will save you money.

If you spend your time on EHU, then it will take forever for it to pay for itself.

Safefill like any other retailer have no control over it a garage will allow you to fill or not, be it in the UK or abroad.. so do your research first.

For myself, I have 2 x 7.5kg bottles and have had no issues finding filling points or using the bottles.

Why so many negative comments?

I don't agree with the 5 negative reviews on here. Yes, they are expensive, yes many garages have stopped selling LPG and yes, it was difficult to get hold of one for a long time. HOWEVER, I have 2 in my motorhome a 10Kg used for the gas requirements of the motorhome and a 7.5Kg not connected but used for the BBQ and as an emergency if the large one ever runs empty.
The difference in weight and cost of gas compared to Rip-off Calor is such an enormous contrast and after over 30 years of caravanning I am so glad I discovered Safefill.
There are still many places to refill and if you plan accordingly and top up when you are getting low rather than waiting until is all gone then all you need to do is look out for LPG pumps as you travel or download the myLPG.eu app.

Hardly any refill sites

Hardly any refill sites. Hopelessly out of date list of refillers. Some have stopped LPG many years ago. Hopeless customer service.
Cylinder good in practice, useless in reality.
See a sign for LPG and try to fill the cylinder you run the risk of being chased off the forecourt..
Set of from Luton eventually found one in S Wales after hours of detours and red herrings...
Save yourself a lot of money and avoid this pipedream...

DO NOT PURCHASE A SAFE FILL CYLINDER

Safe fill in whatever language is a con! They Have a refillable container that leaks They provide a 2 year guarantee which for most caravan owners is a 2 month window per annum so should last 12 years. They baulk at old dated product, are rude and aggressive. We the customer buy their expensive product....have the content leaks whilst in storage....and then accuse us of wasting their time. If I could rate this product and its staff as a ZERO, that would be too high. Stop conning the public into believing you have a £175 product Which does not work and which leaks and start saving the planet as most of these will end up in the landfill because people are too polite to complain. Additionally can I suggest some training for your staff who are overly aggressive and rude. If Mr. Worthington holds a senior position .......why......he implies the customer is wrong.
