Saxby Toko solar garden lighting

We purchased 7 Saxby Toko solar garden lights. They look very modern but now do not work and were quite expensive. Wicks only offer a 1 year guarantee, Saxby give 2 years but we had a lot of hassle trying to get a replacement. I would not buy from them again and would suggest avoiding this product. Next time we will purchase a much cheaper product with the hope that it will last at least a couple of years. Avoid Saxby lighting.

Avoid These Lights at All Costs!

I bought 6 x SAXBY SEINA Outdoor LED Recessed Brick Lights (Brushed Stainless Steel, 4.5W, 350LM – 3890J) from my local Screwfix in 2022. Every single one has failed, all because the drivers have packed up. The lights have barely been used, yet not a single one still works.
I was under the impression these came with a 5-year warranty, but that turned into a complete runaround. Screwfix says it’s only 1 year with them, and that the rest is covered by Saxby. Saxby then claimed it’s just 2 years unless you happened to register them at purchase, which of course wasn’t made clear at the time. Basically, neither company wants to take responsibility, both were completely unhelpful and dismissive.
It’s honestly shocking that a product marketed as premium outdoor lighting has such terrible reliability. Judging by the other reviews on Screwfix’s website, I’m far from the only one with this experience. Do yourself a favour, check the reviews before you buy. I wish I had.
Total waste of money. Poor quality. No support. Avoid.

Absolute junk

Absolute junk. Recently purchased a set of CosmosEco down lights. Having being a qualified electrician since 1987 I would consider myself experienced. The terminal connections are utter junk. There is no practical way to get a 1mm twin and earth with additional loop feed within the supplied housing. Forcing these in causes chafing on the insulation. The only way to get a safe loop connection on these items is to cut the supplied terminal box and use a through wago. Never will I purchase them again.

A company that is unprofessional and PATHETIC.

A company that repeatedly provides potentially lethal instructions with their products, and discriminates against retired (over qualified) engineers just because their 'licence' has expired, and they refuse to provide 3 year warranty because of that, while ignoring 45+ years of successfully wiring UK (and other countries) Defence Industry complex project products which require much more skill to wire up compared to a 2 wire connection Light. Laughable...... and sadly, Pathetic.

Not Fit for purpose, poor quality

Sadly have to agree with similar reviews, poor quality, and customer service, I bought new under counter strip lights in the kitchen, fitting them the plastic fixings just snap when fitting, no other way to fix them, the company say you can buy them, but no help locating them, who sells them, say supplier need to do a special order, not even listed in their own catalogue. Also bought 20 solar lights, (outdoor) top started lifting off. They said it must be the sun or rain! Have agree customer service poor, uninterested, and not open to help as they know they are selling products totally not fit for purpose.

Ref details so you can avoid.

Cheaply made, rubbish quality

Cheaply made, rubbish quality. I bought a number of LED spotlights for two bathrooms. The clip system for the wiring terminals is quite frankly dangerous as a secure fix for each wire is very difficult to achieve. The springs that hold the lights into the ceiling are so severe, the fitting actually broke the weld when pressing the springs in.

Saxby smart pro

Saxby smart pro , Probably the worst set of lights I’ve bought , offline continually.
Spent a few hours getting them reconnected and within a day they are offline again . Default colour is red as well ! Why ! Is it red so you have to keep trying to get them to work correctly!
I recommend not buying the colour changing and stick the the white

These LED lightbulbs are sub-standard junk.

Two of these dimmed considerably and started flickering in a way that could easily cause seizures in those who are susceptible. Both were in different lighting fixtures (so not the fixtures) and neither were anywhere near the promised 25000 hrs lifespan promised on the pack.
They were removed and replaced to make certain. No change. New bulbs did not flicker.
Now these are NOT recyclable - it says so on the pack - so if they fail quickly and then go to landfill then the claim that these are somehow environmentally friendly is quite simply a lie. They are predominantly plastic and feel horribly light weight and poorly made.
Two of two have failed. This suggests either a batch fault or exceptionally poor quality control.
Saxby’s laughably inadequate response when contacted was that we should replace the bulbs or contact an electrician.

Three bathroom cabinets later...

First bathroom cabinet that was delivered had door hinges way too still. Got a second one sent - that had a chipped door. The third one had equally stiff hinges. Both dud replacements took ages to be collected. Contacted Saxby having identified the hinges were faulty (badly manufactured). They seem to have lost interest. Fortunately Home Supply who I ordered it through are getting it sorted and replacing it with a product from someone who cares about the quality of their product and the satisfaction of their customers. That’s not Saxby.

Terrible products, terrible customer service

Had a problem with their garden lights. They are not fit for purpose and rusted through causing short circuit and leakage down to earth. This happened to around 20 + fittings on two different projects. After months of backwards and fowards we had the fittings changed to "marine grade" steel free of charge. Great!, until 10 months later they have all corroded and caused the same problem. After months of chasing we still have no resolution so have had to purchase a different brand and install at cost to our company. Like the previous comment, we will never use another saxby product and will make sure everyone we deal with is made aware, wholesalers, contractors and clients, of how poor the customer service (excluding Heidi) and products are - Whitton Electrical Ltd

Very poor company ethics

Purchased approx 100 off 600x600 recessed light fittings from them 18 months ago for a commercial installation. The electronic ballasts started to fail about 4-5 months ago and they replaced 5 fittings with new ones but are now refusing to change any more even though the Saxby website states that there is a 2 year warranty on these units. The units are failing approx one every 2-3 weeks and we now have a stack of bad fittings that we are slowly changing over for a better quality product. We will never use another Saxby fitting ever again.
